They aren’t tracking you, they are tracking their very expensive piece of equipment! Many equipment companies are doing this due to rampant theft of utility equipment.

They are tracking where their expensive equipment is located. I'm a Construction Superintendent, and the amount of equipment theft is unbelievable - regardless of size. Even bulldozers have been lifted from sites so almost all the contractors I work with have their equipment tracked, and sometimes put on double-trackers in case a thief looks for and finds one without realizing there is a second one. I don't think anyone would bother to tell you because it has become so routine.

Not judging. I always put load binders on each side to keep load from shifting. With chain thru eyelets only load could shift side to side.

Don’t use hooks directly to the rub rail. Use the chain and go around the sprockets connected to the rub rail. Otherwise one accident and them hooks can twist that rub rail like a can opener. D-rings work too.

Even semi trailers now have GPS locators and camera's installed. They aren't tracking you as much as the equipment. If somebody wants to steal it, don't get in the way and get hurt.

That’s why you crack the AirTag open and remove the speaker. The anti-stalking kind of ruined AirTags for anti theft, but they are still better than nothing and no monthly fee.

Most equipment owners of expensive equipment tag their toys. They should have told you, as a curtesy, but, not much to worry about, good thing the phone reacted, just considered a learning opportunity.

I'm a dry van guy, so take it for what it's worth, but your chains appear to be doing almost NOTHING to pull the load downward toward the trailer. On top of that, using one chain does nothing to keep the equipment from moving side to side. What's gonna happen if you have to swerve quickly to avoid something and that equipment slides all the way to one side of the trailer? If you haven't read "Cargo Securement Handbook for Drivers", you should--might save your life or someone else's...

The ditch witch was lowered to the deck. But maybe it’s a miracle I’ve made it this long without incident. When I secure my loads I always ask the shipper do they have any preference on how they want me to secure the load. In this case he said 2 chains & binders, one it the front and one in the back. Also specifically stated I wouldn’t have to worry about it moving side to side because it would be lowered onto the deck. In this case I drove 1300+ miles & it didn’t move an inch. I get what you’re saying but I’ve been doing this long enough to know what’s what. Appreciate the feedback though.

That is a "bore" machine. They are able to bore a hole and feed pipe through it without digging in the dirt just gota dig an entrance hole and an exit hole

I Drive a dump truck and pull those drills all the time you were supposed to have it chained both sides need 2 attachments one through the front 5 total With 5 binders Be careful if one of those chains broke the whole piece of equipment are falling off Be safe out there

Glad to see you out there working it. To second North Idaho Hotshot, you need to have 4 separate points of tie downs. This is dot regs. One chain going through like you have it is considered one point of tie down. You need at least 4 separate chains for equipment securement. I operate and transport heavy equipment for a living. Just telling you this so you don't get hit by dot. Keep up the good work!

Ive worked with those the GPS systems are so the directional drill can track the boring head to see how deep it is and which direction it is going. And yes the company can track the machine as well

they don"t have to tell you.it"s their eqpmt. and that works in your favor when they have that incase your load is jacked it can be found and it also proves you were on rout when it happend. i love it when they do that i let my insurance comp know it when i give certificate of insurance. that way it is noted. if you are doing nothing wrong then you should have no problem with it.remember it is not your truck anymore when you are loaded.

I have seen a few times shipper will put "tracking required" in the notes. Unfortunately I have also been seeing more and more "no hotshots" If you have a CDL but run your truck and trailer is that still considered "hotshot"

People need to lose the term hot shot. There aren't any Hot shots anymore. I've been in business over 27 years and originally the term hot shot was derived from hot loads that were driven direct and non-stop only for fuel. There were guys like myself driving box trucks and straight trucks and other various equipment that were not on e-log or any kind of other clock and we used to drive loads straight through and it was always product or equipment that the customers needed right away that is how the term hot shot came about. It is nothing to do with someone driving a sprinter van or a box truck or a dually with a trailer anymore I don't know why people keep calling it that. There is absolutely no true Hot shots anymore even the guys with the dually pickup trucks now and trailers are running on elog they have to stop just like all other truckers the only people that are not running elog now are sprinter vans and those still are not hot shots. I have 22 trucks and have been in business 27 years we used to run through Hot shot for years we would run loads from Chicago out to California pretty much non-stop just for fuel those loads paid big money back then and were called Hot shots due to that they were ran as a Hot load. None of this junk they are putting on flatbed gooseneck trailers or sprinter vans or box trucks nowadays or hot loads at all every load with every carrier now is considered expedite.

Just FYI brother.. maybe you know this but coming North on I-75 out of Florida.. in South Georgia.. there is a Big Tex trailer facility .. where they manufacture them. You can see it on the right side of Interstate .. huge facility.. around Cordele, Ga?.. its North of Valdosta I know.. if you've traveled I-75 to Florida you've probably seen it.. just thought I'd drop the info for ya.. safe travels 😊

A lot of places put those under equipment that’s like $100,000 machine you’re carrying around they put those on there so if anybody were to steal it they can find it. It’s pretty common nowadays even rental places have those on there but they have them hardwired in to where you just can’t disconnect it it’s not an AirTag it’s just a normal tracking device. They didn’t do it just because you hold it they have that thing on there at all times most likely

It's an insurance company requirement. Theft is rampant since there is no titles, VIN's or anything else involved.

they do got serial numbers on them but don't think there is 1 central place that does tracking of them if stolen so might be why.

You need a fuel card. The loves card wasn't very good. I'm using RTS now and most of the smaller name truck stops are giving good discounts. I filled up for $4.15 this morning at Sapp bros in NE. Also, finally got a Sapp bros rewards card and you get a free shower when you buy 25gals

Have you tried just to balance the tire at a tire shop? It could be something simple causing the vibration when that tire hit it may have been strong enough to knock the weight off of the wheel.

No it did not notify them if you tell it to play a sound... You likely were just in the vicinity of one of the tags, probably not on your load ... Just someone in the area had one, and you got a notification because you were within range of the airtag for longer than a set amount of time. So Apple just warned you to let you know you MAY be being tracked. If you change locations and the message is gone, and doesnt come back, it likely was a false alarm. If you change locations and the airtag warning still there, try sending the alarm sound and try to locate it.

yes it's for the equipment. if stolen it can be tracked. many equipment pieces have been stolen. from farms, were houses, construction jobs and even during transport. it's not really for you. but the equipment your transporting.

Yeah but when you sign the contract for the load it specifically states if tracking is required or not. In this case it wasn’t. I’ve hauled more expensive things further than this with no tracking.

Too late now but future info check out a new trailer ( same model if possible) and see if the under side is different from yours. I don't think the cross member angle parts that are bent are much too worry about. Heck come to think of it, you can probably see photos of all the trailers parts at some dealers website .

Tape measure shackles in the rear and then in the front... get a BFH and pound the shit back in position.. both front and rear should have same measurement

Your chaining is all wrong, you never wrap a chain around the outside of the rail it's always behind the rail into the style then binder , it's the DOT rules. Plus you use 4 chains cris crossing them equally them so it doesn't slide side ways. Your very lucky especially in Florida chain laws are tough. Hope you learned something today have a safe trip

about the fuel "hack" , why not just just have them turn on the pump so you can get it totally full, they only charge your card what you use. I know the gauge looked full but you might have 3 or 4 more gallons you could have pumped.

Wake up driver your hauling a expensive piece of equipment the broker your hauling for will put a tracking device on your phone number and the equipment. I hauled dry freight to Reefer loads it's a normal thing for companies to do. Remember that the freight is not yours they own it.

That is a very expensive drill( a small one at that ) It puts rods in the ground wherever the operator tells it to go. Then they have a box that locates the rods so someone can tell the person where to press the rods. Then when you get it to your location you want it you hook pipe to it and the operator pulls the rods back and Boom you now have pipe in the ground without digging it in. Alot of utility companies use them. It’s bad ass actually

The axles on that trailer should be straight the dually or semi axles sometimes are curved but that’s a 14k trailer with straight axles. All trailer axles are the same bro they all buy them from the same company

You might want to see and getting some heavier axles I know they make heavier axles for those I know a lot of guys have problems for the lows they get heavy and those axles give out stock
