I already know this is gonna be a banger. I have a recommendation for this type of video. The 1993 Miami Dolphins. Dan Marino suffered a season ending injury early in the season. But backup Scott Mitchell took over and was just fine. Miami defeated Dallas in a rare snowstorm in Texas Stadium, in a game called the Leon Lett game. Look it up. That win catapulted the Dolphins to 9-2, and were in prime position to make a deep playoff run. They lost their last five games, including their last game in OT against the Patriots, and missed the playoffs. It's the biggest single season collapse in NFL history.

I went to that Packers game against the Broncos. We left the stadium when it looked like the Vikings were going to hold on for the win. But we put on the Vikings game on the radio just in time to hear the onside kick recovery. And after the touchdown, my uncle started beeping the horn, and he rolled down the windows of the car. We all were freaking out and yelled out that the Cardinals beat the Vikings. Seeing everyone's reaction going from somber (despite the packer win) to pure jubilation is probably my favorite sports memory.
@chriskay1449
@chriskay1449 2 года назад
Inside the stadium at the time, the fans stopped paying attention to the Packers game and turned around oo they could get updates from the people in the suites who had the Vikings game on TV Some people in the suites had turned the TV's around to those outside could see it or were giving updates by signaling a thumbs up or down. Meanwhile, the Packers Coordinators, Tom Rossley and Ed Donatell, were giving head coach Mike Sherman and the coaches updates through the headsets as they was watching the Vikings game in the booth. Packers Radio announcer Wayne Larrivee, actually started to do play by play of the Vikings game while continuing to call the Packers game at the same time. All of this is happening, mind you, while the Packers game is still on going. When the Cards scored, Wayne and Larry go completely nuts and by this point have completely forgotten about the Packers game. TV Veiwers at home went to the 2 minute warning commercial break only knowing the the Cards were inside the 20 and then come back from commerrcial to see everyone in the stadium going completely nuts as they are being told that the Cards scored and the play was under review. It was one of the most surreal radio and TV broadcasts in Packers history.

Seeing the referee motion the “force-out” rule, giving Nate Poole the touchdown, is so nostalgic of how the NFL has changed. For those who don’t know, the NFL used to have a “force-out” rule that allowed a referee to declare a touchdown if he determines that a defender interfered with a receiver’s ability to catch the ball and land with both feet in bounds. This rule was nullified in 2008.

@@ziwuri The “force-out” rule applied to a receiver in the air. In the case of Nate Poole, the Cardinals’ receiver, in this video, he caught the ball, but did not get both feet in bounds. In today’s NFL, this is an incomplete pass. In 2003, the referee could declare that the Minnesota defender interfered with Poole’s ability to get his feet in bounds, and declare he was “forced out” by getting hit and be declared in bounds as if he got both feet down.

The Cardinals won this series of events though. Cause Eli's upside pushed Kurt Warner out of NY and into AZ for his magical Superbowl run a few years later. Destiny! Or all planned?!?!? And they got Fitzgerald with that #3 pick in 04!

Anything less than a mugging was fair game. Who knows, that very play could have led to the rules change, giving us the pass-happy game we watch today.
