It was a poor remake of an outstanding movie. And zero eye candy. Get over it. Develop fresh IP. Stop gender swapping, that is lazy and poor writing. I agree with Geeky, it should have been the kids of the original cast.
Honestly, that's why people like GB: Afterlife. It followed the kids of the original cast (well, one of them) and went was respectful to the source material.
I don’t even understand why they’re talking about it. It was literally 8 1/2 years ago. Everyone seems to move on but them. They are truly pathetic if they can’t cope or admitted their movie sucked.
@@ethanschaeffer7718 It really is kinda pathetic Feig is still mad people didn't like that dumpster fire and of course he's going to try to label everyone who didn't like his trash movie a misogynist 🙄
Fans love Janine, Kylie, and Phoebe, all of whom are female Ghostbusters. The hate that _Ghostbusters 2016_ gets isn't because it's all female Ghostbusters, despite what Fieg might think, but because it was just a terrible movie. Feig and Lesley need to get that through their heads.
@@Ability-King-KK I’ve never read the comics, but she was an intelligent female character. In my opinion, Egon was my fav character, but she was second in the animated series
This is what playing the Social Justice Necromancer class does for them: They can alawys dig up posts from the past and raise issues that should be long dead. I wonder how many people get the reference...
At 13:56, I remember what Jim Hacker said in the 1980s British comedy series "Yes, Prime Minister" when he said *"The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country."* That still rings true today.
Remember how Stephen Spielberg ranted and raved about how no one understood 1941 8 years after it premiered? Me neither. Because he moved on from it. Take a hint Paulie!
@@MrBiggles53 I personally thought Slim Pickens made that movie, him and the dummy in the ferris wheel. It's just a fun waste of 90 mins. How bad could it be, if I recall it was nominated for academy awards in some category like sounds or something like that.
Of course that was their hay day when they had the ear of those who were not paying attention. Then when they got the dementia puppet into office and saw the entire world tank they lost their reputation.
I tried to watch that movie twice since it was released. I have yet to make it through. It's just unfunny bad bad bad. Nothing to do with the fact they are women.
Apparently, we as humans have devolved, because I don't recall people dumping on "A League of Their Own", because it was mostly a female cast. To be honest, I think that movie holds up. It's like 30 years old and I still enjoyed it when I recently rewatched.
Hatred implies we cared about it. Which, we clearly didn't. And, just for impartiality's sake I watched it so you didn't have to, and it doesn't have a single redeeming quality. If anything, it makes fun of the original rather than honor it. The remaining original cast must had been envious of Harold Ramis being the only one who didn't get to see it, let alone be part of such mess. I'm certain it gave Bill Murray Garfield flashbacks. L very much earned. Paul Feig is an architect of his own demise.
It wasn’t only men that didn’t like the movie. Where then were the woman audience? Surely woman supported this movie and spent their hard earned money at the theatres. Wait…..what?
Oh please make GhostBuster 2024 or 2025 with the same cast and the same writing, I love seeing rich people dumping money into the drain and show you a surprise Pikachu face wondering why they're losing money.
I can probably understand that having a lead of four Females playing the Ghostbusters is odd (not counting the two new Ghostbusters Films), but everyone should have gotten over this by now, since the Film already came out EIGHT DANG YEARS AGO!!!!
Not only that, but since they're _all girls_ , the title really would have been _Ghostbustresses_ , not "Ghostbusters." Don't believe me? Way back in 1986, when Futura debuted on (Filmation) Ghostbusters, she introduced herself as "Ghostbustress of the Future." "Ghostbusters," by contrast, indicates that _at least one_ of them is a boy!
People wanted the REAL Ghostbusters and were guilted into giving this horseshit a chance, and to no one's surprise it was complete trash. When you deny people what they want, give them something they don't want, and then blame them for not liking it, you get what you deserve.
Just ignore them, they will never get over anything. The only solution to this is to ignore them, refuse to support them in anyway, and show them no one cares. Eventually they will age out and fade into the background where they belong.
Ghostbusters 2016 is the movie that forever changed the entertainment industry forever and despite the movie being 8 years old where still seeing the effects of the movie to this day
Should we take a count of the number of crap failure movies with male leads? According to their accusations, all of those movies should have been successful.
I genuinely will never care about GB16. Scream about misogyny all you like, it's never going to change my opinion about a truly shitty movie. That's that.
Sheesh, they STILL keep talking about it 8 years later? This, of course, was the film that started the trend of alt-left-infected corporate studios publicly insulting customers.
Haven't even watched the video and I can already smell a fallback tactic. "If all else fails, act like it's still 2016, where our tactics worked in full strength."
I think it's an ego trip. This movie's failure was one of the first major blows to Hollywood's massive ego. They can't get over it because Hollywood used to have a bigger influence on both the political and cultural spectrums of the USA. Now they have neither at this point and they are pissed.
The downfall of modern entertainment started right here. Gaming, comics, films and television are still dealing with the fallout and trying to climb out of that massive hole. Or dig deeper, depending on who it is.
It seems Ghostbusters still lives free in their heads... After all it was the movie that showed the world of just how bias journalists and Hollywood really are.
I think the original plan was to make it GB3, but then something behind the scenes changed, and it got hijacked by those who wanted to put nonsense into the films!!
Ghostbusters 2016 WAS... NOT... FUNNY!!! At all! It had one funny scene -- the dancing with the flame and the fire extinguisher. I wasn't entertained and nobody I spoke to was entertained. Consider what happened in AFTERLIFE -- THAT was a good movie!! Good story, very entertaining, and was meshed into the existing Ghostbusters universe. Loved it!! If you cannot make an entertaining show, that's not our fault. Period.
Paul Feig can not admit that his movie just bombed with the vast majority of Ghostbusters fans and the normies . In his mind , it's not his fault, so it must be ours. There used to be a time when society would call this BS out, but now that everyone has to take sides, normally down political lines, this is no longer the case. Do wonder if all this has raised it's head again due to Daisy Ridley blaming men hating female characters causing Disney Star Wars to fail, recently.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I only like the original Ghostbusters movie, everything that came after the original was mid to awful, people will try and defend even GB 2 and Afterlife but those are awful as well, the original Ghostbusters was just lightning in a bottle that can't be replicated.
The worst thing about Ghostbusters 2016 (although I didn't watch the film myself, who did?) is that it started the whole "blame the audience before (and after) the movie is released" mindset of movie/tv makers. That mindset became so popular, "its never my fault" and it has done so much damage. Having the Hollywood aristocracy spit on and kick the "plebs" has made Hollywood more unpopular than previously. Honestly, the poor quality of script writers and their need to blame some-one else has been the downfall of movies for at least a decade now....
I have to be honest here. I watched Ghostbusters 2016 just recently and I enjoyed it. As a stand alone, I thought it was a fun movie. Great? No. But still fun. I watched the original with my best friend at 13. We loved it. Didn't see the second because I wasn't interested. I thought the 2016 movie was a bad idea, but after years, I thought why not. Never saw anything but clips of afterlife, wasn't interested. Did see Frozen Empire, thought it was boring.
i watched Ghostbusters 2016,(I thought it was the real movie)....it was one of the WORST movies i have EVER SEEN, it was so bad i couldn't even finish it, and because of it i absolutely despise Melissa McCarthy (as an actress) i refuse to watch anything she is in. And, yes I am female.
SNL Fart Buster Cast. That one chick lookn like Justin Bieber. Egon from 1980's movie was a Force Ghost n latest movie. Don't know if actor died or they just shite out a 💩 story to excuse use of a trans.
When is Paul Feig going to learn that his movie was a total dud, and everyone has forgotten about it, except for himself, and his shills? No wonder Sony severed ties with him after Ghostbusters: Answer The Call flopped! Who would want to work with him with his attitude? Get over yourself, Paul! You can’t play the “gender card” anymore! Geez!
The more people like Paul say, "You just hate women!" the more they're demonstrating that their movies have nothing else going for them except "women!"
for those playing the game, Concord began development the same year as this movie. Concord was gestated, lived, and passed before these people gave this movie up.
>proudly says we are new, different, and have nothing to do with original GB >fails, crys about it >gets mad Reitman is doing a sequel to his. >not mentioned or included in the continuing canon or included in the box set - goes into a rage. >2024 links everything to Trump.
I went to see Ghostbusters 2016 and gave it a chance, but the whole movie had each character trying to be the funny one. The acting of the mayor's assistant, or whatever her job was, was bad. What was the point of Leslie Jones' character? She never had a real reason to join. Her character could be looking for a job or owned the building that the Ghostbusters needed. Dont make every character make jokes everytime they are on screen. Have the smart one, funny one, one believes psychics and one to get added after the Ghostbusters form. You could copy the characters but dont follow it exactly. They never had hardly any advertisements about the movie. The only advertisement I have seen for the movie was before the movie started with a Progressive insurance advertisement.
They had two The Real Ghostbusters cartoons. The second one had the guys training a younger generation in Ghostbusting and one of the characters was in a wheelchair. And Slimer was their mascot.
They should have done a live action version of the Extreme Ghostbusters, where Spangler was a professor and his students carried on ghostbusting That would have gone over much better than the slop they made.
I actually had interest in seeing this movie........until I saw that trailer. It was the worst trailer I've ever seen. Trailers are supposed to get you interested in the movie, but this one completely turned me off. It just showed me an unfunny comedy. You can get away with a lot in comedy except not being funny.
Even if you go into it without caring about the gender/race swap, it's just a bad movie. Jokes are obvious and don't land and it's just a slog. My mom watched it and immediately said she prefers the originals. So there goes the "just dudes hating" angle. They made a bad movie and have to find any reason to blame other than realizing or admitting it just sucked and was a bad idea.
Imagine making a movie so bad that it turns you back into a toddler that is still throwing a tantrum 8 years later. If you're Paul Feig, you can ignore this since you already know.
Could they just try to stay relevant by making something new and interesting? They are trying to bring back the Macarena because it's the only dance they know
They need to admit the movie sucked, fact. None of us were against the idea of a woman being a Ghostbuster or even an all female Ghostbuster team as long as it was written well/competently and/or wasn't a remake.
Not really because I know Netflix allowed Pretty Cure to be plagued as Glitter Force in December 2015. Thankfully, Toei Animation got the rights back, but only a few seasons in Japanese are available on Crunchyroll.
