Grocery store rack toys were the cheapest toys you could get back then, but they served their purpose, made kids happy, and had a charm to them.

I still have my Lazer Tag Walkie Talkies. They flipped open like the Star Trek communicators. :)

Haha. The walkie-talkies had to be so close to each other that you could pretty much hear each other anyway without them. - Ron Scott

I remember my uncle hooked me up with some heavy duty pro, monster brick walkie talkies. They used 16 AAA batteries! A fortune. I shortly realized, who do I even have to talk to? Didn't plan that out well.

If you live around a mountain near cellphone towers, yeah, results can get strange. Me and my brother got Smurfs walkie talkies from my grandmother for Christmas and they didnt work with each other at all but one of them picked up a kid on his walkie talkie a few miles away. Oddly, the one never worked at all but the other one only picked up that kid on cloudy days. I don't think it was a walkie talkie thing though. My Casio SK-1 keyboard also worked like a walkie talkie. I could hear a guy at a Sheridon reception hall setting up a speaker system and he was getting mad cos when I was playing keyboard notes they were buzzing through his speakers.

I had some GI Joe walkie talkies. They were green and pretty cool, the signal seemed like a joke though.

Me and my sister had ones that look like the brick cell phones from the 80s and they had a Sprint sticker on them. We used to listen to my grandma's phone conversations and we swore they could hear us, so we had to be extra quiet. We laughing our heads off when our grandma told somebody over the phone, "I hate those those goddamn kids". :) haha We later found out they couldn't hear us at all. :) Thanks for the video

Them walkies were lots of fun back as a kid. There was a few years we had a group of kids and we had lots of fun playing all summer either playing war of cops and robbers. spys or just goofing on girls. Best range we ever got was half a block. these were the toys for the last summer that a lot of us played together be for going our separate ways kind of like the end of Stand by me.

I remember taking both of mine, turning both on and crossing both antennas together and making them screech when I was a kid. Those He-Man walkie talkies looked pretty cool though, the ones with He-Man and Skeletor.

LOL! As a kid, I had a set from "Star Trek" with the huge flip-up cover and they could barely reach 20 ft!

we had some Radio Shack ones that kinda worked. my buddy lived a few houses down and we'd each keep one. problem is you had to call on the phone to tell the other guy to turn theirs on, because you couldn't leave them 24/7 or the battery would die.

Man, there was a guy I knew when I was a kid back in the day that worked for the volunteer fire department and he had badass walkie talkies on his hip all the time and I always wanted one that worked as well as his did but not a single one ever at all got close.
