Bravo Betterhelp ♥️🤘🧐🌱 I have completed a few Therapeutic Community Models and am hours away from my LCDC 🌐♥️♻️ I have some UNREAL ideas for social media regarding mental health and platform integration 🪄♥️ to help more.... Van your the man for being that medium!
I love your videos. I appreciate you saying you don’t get the art, I know I don’t. What I can say is that the art I like makes me feel…feel inspired or sad or happy or whatever. Your art inspires me. Thank you.
Van is the best film maker on RU-vid that is actually findable. No idea what other obscurities are hiding in the algorithm… but this right here. This is the stuff that makes life worth living.
Check out Shaffer Nickel as well. Dude makes some of the best content on this platform and has maybe 15k followers after years on RU-vid. His recent piece about fear is pretty great.
@@kimball_stone I just went to shaffer's channel and watched some of his videos, they're insane. definitely a great artist that needs more recognition, thanks for recommending him!
@@luismaxb Right!? The guy is *crazy* talented. When I first started watching his videos, he literally had a thousand subs. His quality was already better than some people with half a million.
This one touched me on so many different levels Van. I started out as an artist. I wouldn't say I was a very good one but it gave me the skills to become a great art worker. I enjoyed that work. The pressure of artistic inspiration is off your shoulders and you can focus on the fabrication instead. That led me to wooden boatbuilding, which is how I pay the bills now, but more importantly it harnessed all of my mechanical skills, artistic interests and abilities and gave them a singular focus for expression. Now I also put both those interests into video production. I use the videos to teach people how to build boats but it also gives me a new outlet for artistic expression that I formerly didn't have. I love Thailand. Bangkok was thoroughly intimidating upon my arrival. My first interaction with an Asian city. After touring around the country a few weeks I really appreciated arriving back in Bangkok. My mother-in-law shot 8mm film while she was there in the late 50's and when I compared that to the sides I was shooting at the time, around 2001, I was shocked to see how little had changed. Lastly, for the record, I also don't get most modern art.
As a former movie crew member, art worker myself too, I felt for a moment I was there too. Thank you Van, and thank all the crew members and the patrons and clients. It was nice!
Thanks Van! Its so cool to see your inside view on the art world and the travel you do for Tom. I love this kind of behind the scenes footage. It really makes me appreciate his work in a way I never seen before.
Favorite shot was you at your computer as fireworks go off behind you. I can imagine them starting to go off, you thinking about the shot, and then scrambling to get the camera out to film it hoping the fireworks keep going. Defiantly been there.
As always a super well done and thoughtful video. It must have been a great experience. However, I just learned about the allegations about Tom Sachs art studio at curbed today .. not sure what's true about it and what not, but I hope that also he is treating his workers well.
„My favourite place to experience a place is to have a job there“ that’s 💯 my experience too. I barely can afford to travel anywhere that’s why most places I ever visited were always because of a job.
What an experience! The music, the narrative, the colors, create an immersive whole where I plunged while losing the notion of time... this video transported me as far as this boat.
The beauty of this channel and Van's videos is I don't honestly know if I even like the videos or not but I still watch every single one of them! LOL. I know that doesn't make much sense but I'm drawn to his content for whatever reason and I don't know what the reason is.
That's how you know he's a true artist. It's like looking at paintings or art in a museum, you probably don't really know what it actually is saying or even if you like it, but you can at least respect the work that went into it and that there is meaning behind it. And sometimes you discover what the meaning is later in your life when the times right.
This was amazing. I haven’t watched the recent ones but the rhythm here is amazing. Storytelling in a video format. It’s so pulling. Warrants my focus and attention.
Damn! you even master the story telling on the sponsored ads! Love you Van. Thank you for your video posts.....they mean the world to me. In a way, your channel is therapy to me ! It's gets me to focus on lifes priorities and keep me humble in our -connected- disconnected world.
I had the great fortune of having an uncle who was a travel blogger and because of him, I was able to go see Southeast Asia. This video makes me want to go back ASAP, 😂
I'm in awe at how deep your messages resonate when you grant us such an intimate access to your work. It's cuarted raw goodness that always leave me wanted more. In the words of Adam Driver, 👌Good Soup! (👍x 1000)
Van!!! On behalf of us all I think I can confidently speak for the group; please for the love of all that is spirited make and upload more videos. Your channel is like when you finish the best show ever and you tell people about it and you wish” man you’re lucky to get to experience this” like I’d give anything to find this spirited man’s channel again for the first time. I know you’ve got shit going on and bigger and better things and that’s awesome you deserve it but I gotta be selfish and let you know we need more brother. Oh and please do another run of the pencil shirts. You know they will sell just go ahead and order em mmmk. Hope you see this and that it finds you well bud. When I’m needing to find purpose and want to feel like Kin is here with me on a different level I look to you, Van, one of the greatest, inspiring, smart, and of course most spirited of men. 🤙🏼with peace and love
Thank you for taking us on a boat in Bangkok. (I have a little queasiness...ha ha) Great story and edit flow. Enjoyed the history of the east west art relationships.
Beautiful video and outstanding narrative. You’re good at this. 👍🏻🏆

Wonderful piece, Van. I love sailing up the canals, the temples and markets. I agree, travel at its best is going 'there' for a job to collaborate and participate. Not as a tourist escorted through presentations. Again, a beautiful episode.
