It may not mean much, but I feel like plat 4-diamond 2 is such a mish mash of players. It's such a polarizing bracket and it feels like they are almost inbred amongst each other, trying to dogpile over one another lol. There feels like there are just a lot of bad habits on display. Not to mention you've got a lot people that have been playing the game for awhile placing in that range.
Diamond 2 isn't really high level lol. I'm diamond 2 and I don't know anything about the game. I don't delay tech or parry or safe jump or know frame data and I only know two combos. All you need to get to diamond 2 is the ability to antiair and hit someone meaty.
@@chimpmasterflex You can get there pretty easily by having one strong flowchart that the opponent needs to know more about how to beat than you do while you basically just do stuff and play the numbers game when it comes to climbing. Most common for easy gimmicky characters or easy strong characters in general, so a lot of Ken, a lot of Honda, etc.. Or you can get there trying to play correctly where you basically have to know how to answer the most of the cheap gimmicks, or at least be able to adapt during the set. It takes way more work but they're also the players that are eventually just passing through.
I'm not going to personally do it, but I'd love to see someone do a medium button counter across this climb. I feel a safe bet is like 1,500 per video though.

Juri definitely has no weaknesses. She might not have as many overwhelming strengthes as other characters but she doesn't have anything actively bad like Marisa, aki, jamie etc.
She may not have any obvious weakness but there are tools in her kit that are weaker or invalidated in specific match ups, like her fireball not being very strong vs honda, blanka or cammy.
Unsafe target combo? Un-varied dive kick range? I'm just starting to learn her & this is what I've found. I also realized I can't split her combos up to practice them because fuha affects frame data, but that's not a match thing. I was stuck at Intermediate 12 for so long before I realized that the >MP refused to link with no stock.
@@jadedbreadncircus9159you don't, you change how far you are to kick them at their feet to make it safe. It's hard to do, but if you're going against a projectile spammer the ability to jump forward and boost towards them is really strong
Luke's LP-MP-HP autocombo on block at least sets him up with some gimmicky follow-up, most of which ends with him getting DI'd, but it's something. Should still hit-confirm regardless.
Juri’s not top ten. All she has is: An invincible reversal The best or second best drive rush in the game Standing heavy punch 40% meterless combos Corner carry One of the best lv2 supers if you know how to use it A projectile that can be followed And all of that barely makes her viable! She needs all of it!
@@samthemessiah9330in distance sure but since you can’t cancel anything out of it it doesn’t matter. Juri’s dash and back dash length are so ridiculously long compared to the rest of the cast, their usage actually ends up being more niche
In the "picking up on tells in the first few seconds" section of the video, I couldn't help but notice the Ryu kept pressing mp+mk+hp in a lot of situations. Is that a parry/od dp option select or does this guy just have weird inputs?
Its a "tech" on wakeup DPs where if your ex dp doesnt come out, youll go into a parry so that youre not ledt open to attacks (can still get grabbed, but it works well against jumps and meaty attempts i think)
I play Juri. Modern Juri is difficult because you lose access to buttons when you activate Feng Shui. Classic controls suit her and the controls are easy enough even for newcomers. Really love the Feng Shui engine and you can really get creative with combos. However, I think she has unfavorable match-ups against Cammy and DJ
Only at the start of the video but I'm not sure who says Juri isn't top 10, when I've seen her placed as second tier in like every tier list. And I have never used Feng Shui Engine because I've not learned any of the combos I've seen people use.
I swear that as soon as Ken and JP started to cement at the tippy top of the tier list Juri players started acting as if she also isnt absurdly strong, like she doesnt have a dive kick with insane corner carry, a teleport drive rush, a teleport dash, a forward throw that goes full screen and can corner you from round start, one of the longest low forwards in the game, a meterless fireball that she can walk behind, and forward advancing medium punch thats +2 on block. Not even top 10 💀
I'm probably going to sound like a bommer saying this, but while SF- Juri is interesting, I don't think they've ever made a version more unique than what she was in SF4. Capcom made a super cool and unique negative edge zoner, and turned it into a somewhat basic rushdown because of popularity. Tragedy.
Hi RU-vid commenters, I am trying to pick a new main since I've been playing only Luke since the start, but it seems like every character that isn't JP, Honda, Guile, Zangief, plays the same. What's the difference between ken or ryu or luke or juri or Dee Jay? they throw fireballs and drive rush in, some have slightly better fireballs or better normals, they all have a dp, am I crazy for thinking they look so similar? The only other fighting game I've played is strive, and all those characters feel way different to play from each other, maybe I have a biased viewpoint.
If you are playing Luke and think all the Drive Rush characters feel the same, then just pick up one of the different characters like Honda, Gief, Dhalsim, Blanka, Lily, Marisa, etc.
So Ken having run allows him corner carry a lot of characters would have to spend drive rush since run tatsu goes like half screen, and Ryu having Denjin Charge allows him to win non-ex fireball wars against a number of characters. There's other nuances but those are pretty surface level observations. For a Luke example he has long fireball and short fireball so you can mixup between the two at certain ranges so if the opponent tries to parry a long fireball the short fireball whiffs and they lose gauge, and similarly if they don't parry a long fireball expecting a short fireball they'll lose some drive gauge from blocking. There's probably other things I'm forgetting off-hand but hopefully this helps

46:02 Is it possible that Luke caught you on the parry's start up? (Because I saw Juri go blue right as the Level 3 was about to connect, and it does seem like non-perfect parries have a bit of start up to them)

In order to believe that Juri is not top 10, you would have to believe that the likes of Chun Li, Blanka, Kimberly and Marisa are all better than Juri. I don't think the people saying this are using their brains.
well, actually blanka and chun i can see... so it would be guile, ken, luke, dj, blanka, cammy, chun li and... she would still be top 8 lol. but honestly, it doesn't matter at all. some characters could use a few new tools to help some matchups and maybe a change to how stuff works, like in ryu's case his denjin charges or whatever they are called. but to me, the game is already in a better state than sfv and we have a long way to go from here... so in my opinion some people have to chill a little.
Juri is stuck in that spot of being borderline one of the best but just isn't. I'm in the same spot as the FGCbirds with her tier wise on where to place her especially compared to chun and cammy who are also solid. She has really good feeling stuff but nothing the other top tier can't do or don't have an alternative to that makes the opponent have to respect her other than "oh she's + on this, this, and this". Fuha stock may be fun but it's just a combo extender outside of projectile.
