10:44 - It’s not right for online stores to picture stock photos and send you a box of whatever. They should have to picture what they’re selling (like Sweetwater and Anderton’s does). That’s just my opinion, but once burned, twice shy.
I'm proud of Gibson, this week. They had something for every taste, I'm going to wear my Gibson shirt this week, I can hold my head up and dream of next demo custom day.
I do the "put it on the watch list and wait a day" for pretty much everything I buy on Reverb. About a quarter of the time I'll get an offer either from the seller or one of their competitors.
Austin; The discount on Gibson demo shop offerings almost brings them down to used prices, but that demo stamp is a permanent handicap. How much do you think it affects resale value ? Have you ever personally bought a demo shop guitar?
i saw a 50s LP in candy berry burst and i fell in love immediately. If i had a perfect life where I had the money and didn't live in Brazil where the taxes cost double the guitar i would buy it instantly :(
I own a 2000 Les Paul with a gorgeous blue and yellow crackle paint job. So that crackle Explorer was something else, but for me the dot inlay and no doubt baseball bat neck profile, was a mood killer.
I've got a LP Custom kit and I've always wanted silverburst, but I decided to do something different and do a Pelham burst finish since I'd never seen that. I guess I'm late to the party.
Mr. Troglyman. Please , please my good man , Would You please tell us what the "pick ups" are if they are other than the normal model ones. I had an epiphone les paul, nuclear extreme that looked like that crackle explorer, back about 20 year's ago. Took the pick guard off it and had, Paul Stanley sign it. Regret selling it though. But my son was being born, so needed the money
when you mention the pelham burst and richlite / rosewood reigning suprume until 2019, did you mean rosewood was the popular wood? Or richlite? I thought it was richlite?
Big fan of that green Explorer, personally. I think Gibson has an opportunity to do some really interesting finishes on the 80's Explorer and V, and it's good to see the Mod Shop feels the same way lol.
That crackle finish is very hard to get right, if you overdo it you cant get a decent clear coat on it, especially when shooting a nitro finish over it!
Shame about the bocchi custom. I would've paid in full or more for it but lost the lottery as well. Do hope they maybe make proper Gibson or custom shops like with the yuto goryos
I love that crackle finish on a guitar. The Zinnia would looked great if the did even a simple burst like that did with the Pelham Blue . I can't recall what one it was but the point where you said imagine ordering this and getting this. I'll say like you say often. I would think I won the lottery on that guitar.
Never was a Gibson guy, never was into the Les Paul. Got my first Flying V last week, been binge watching you since. I definitely see the appeal of Gibson and the Les Paul’s, beautiful instruments. Thanks for changing my heart with these 🔥
The Lady Bug Explorer is cool but as an old school wrestling fan swap the red accents for yellow accents and you would have a killer Dusty Rhodes tribute Explorer
The only company doing good factory crackles in the past few years is jackson. Too small and uniform crackles look horrible like the stranger things warlocks...looks like montana can crackle
Damn, would never have expected a crackle finish from Gibson. Props to them for taking the plunge, Jackson has been absolutely killing it with those finishes recently
thanks for posting. the mod/repaint shop guitars dont do anything for me especially with the large premiums. the demo shop has some nice looking guitars and the prices are good.
Better to have a smooth neck, you would feel the crackle and guitars are made to be played ;-) Also, Gibson is watching Trogly to make sure Gibson are up to date on Gibson, Not exactly but must have a good reputational standing now at gibson, if they are concerned he is putting out correct information.
one thing is for sure...there won't be a shortage of Gibson guitars this year......and Trogly...go easy....its only just been new year.....still 357 more days to buy guitars....
the only problem with this series is me seeing finishes i want to put on my builds and then buying paints and the wife getting more and more simmeringly angry
Stupid Affirm is tied to an old email and phone number I no longer have, and the CS team claimed they fixed it but didn't, otherwise that Bengal would be mine. I prefer it darker and without the yellow. FML.
