Noticing some people taking things negative real quick haha. I loved this rendition. Cutting off a reaction after a few words and calling someone out for negative comments is ironic. Feel free to check a little bit longer and maybe tweak your initial reaction just like i did. Or don’t of course. There’s a flavor for everybody in the world of reaction channels haha. Much love Jesse

You have walked into the middle of an American class war. Country and folk music has long been considered to be "lower class" than the other genres. It was not accepted or played in the "big cities" of New York City and Los Angeles with very few exceptions. Pavarotti was good but he was also very vain about it and looked down on other forms of music and the people who performed it.

Well, you took it to a negative place really quickly, to be honest, so there's nothing else to expect from the reactions, right. You set the tone. I don't see the point in comparing singers to begin with. You do talk more about Pavarotti than about Austin and Rob. Personally I've not heard any version that comes close to this one. No other version has grabbed me, made my eyes tear up, made my jaw drop, given goose bumps. I did watch the whole reaction and I didn't get the impression that you liked this, which is ok, we're all different. The negative comments comes from the comparison with the greatest opera singer the works has ever known, and I don't know how fair that is to yourself because you are not even giving yourself the chance to like this for the right reasons, you just don't like for the wrong reasons. I too like to keep things honest, so I hope you take it for what it is.
@JesseReacts

@@carinalindberg7377 appreciate that, is pefectly fine. I can see it was a lot in comparing. Do feel like i give the guys a lot of credit for the performance towards the end. Found irony in the fact people found me judgmental real quick and seemingly not give me the time to nuance my statements. Not an opera fan perse. It’s a craft i really respect and would love to see live, but i don’t casually listen to it.

@@gailseatonhumbert Hi. When I was in college studying music theory, history, I learned more than I bargained for. My first 2 year theory prof, a fab classical pianist who was wasted on us, and a SNL buff, commented on a performance by a popular rock band (I don’t remember which). He started played chord progressions and various modulation techniques and asked who had used them on SNL over the weekend. It was said band. I wish I could remember, Queen? I can quote him exactly because he changed me. “Stop limiting yourselves by being classical bores. “There are greats in every genre of music. Listen and learn.” Thanks Lawrence McCann. I still have those notes.😊

I can imagine an alternate timeline where Rob stuck with opera. Considering this performance after 15 years getting rusty, I think that alternate Rob would be a superstar of the opera world. I appreciate that they brought this aria to an audience that wouldn't ordinarily listen to opera and did phenomenally well. They didn't just try to sing opera, they succeeded.

Hi Jesse. High praise from you indeed. I am glad that you finally saw this performance as a separate entity. Nobody will ever match up to Pavarotti and Bocelli in the songs they are famous for. But. For two a capella singers attempting this as a side project they really delivered. They sounded so good. I love the contrast in their voices, each delivering strong soaring notes. And the HF humor. Coming in as country and morphing into the expected polished look of opera singers. Brilliant.

Jesse, I'm not going to fuss at you & I'm glad you liked it! This song is one of the few opera songs I love & I've listened to Pavarotti sing it many times. I actually like Andrea Bocelli more! I love their versions but they studied & sang opera all their lives. What most impresses me is Rob studied opera but hasn't performed opera in 15 years & Austin has a degree in music theater but has never done opera so I think Pavarotti & Bocelli would either be proud or jealous that two a cappella singers could do such an amazing job! Rob & Austin's version was, to me, as good as theirs & THEY can sing ANY genre as well! This video not only brought me to tears, it also brought Lyle, the Aussie reactor at Patrol Nation, to tears! Everyone who's reacted to this has been blown away even though they know how talented every member of Home Free is!😊🤗😘

I am a huge Home Free fan and have been since 2014. Rob was operatically trained but hadn't sung any for 15 years. Austin was musical theater trained. You are correct that Austin's voice is not best for Opera and Rob is. Pavarotti was one of my most favorite tenors next to Mario Lanza (and yes I like Bocelli and some others) Rob reminded me so much of what Pavarotti brought to the table. I would love to hear more of Rob in this genre. I loved that you reacted honestly and fairly. You also gave credit where credit is due, Harmony such as that doesn't always belong and I can understand why you said what you did. In the end, it was Austin who persuaded Rob to do this. The surprise for me was Rob. I had no idea he had that background. Anyway...keep pushing. Listen to Home Free if you haven't. 5 guys all singing a capella and doing it better than anyone else out there. World Class beatboxer and everything is done by the human voice.

Thanks for reacting to this. Since Homefree does alot of humorous songs your initial response was understandable. Oh I think Andrea Bocelli gives Pavarotti solid competition on this one for best version 🙂 What a singer's musical training is can be very different from what they end up doing professionally. Case in point, Avi Kaplan is a formally opera trained basso profundo who sang pop acapella in Pentatonix and now sings his own compositions in folk rock. So "go figure" 😄 Rob is an opera trained tenor. Rob hasn't done music on his own channel he reviews movies with a friend. Austin is also formally classically trained but sings in more of a musical theater and pop classics direction. He developed his channel as did Tim Foust as their income sources during the pandemic quarantine with no touring for live shows. Adam Chance also has his own channel and has done a couple of collaborations with The Hound + The Fox which are 2/3rds of Fifgen Films. I first noticed Austin's version of "Unchained Melody". His most popular. Steven Martinez was his housemate for years and is his business partner. A standard of Austin's is "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables An Austin original song is "Off the Grid" another is "Take the Night Off". Amberly is his girlfriend who "killed" him in the Homefree larping video recently while he "mourned" Rob getting killed. 🙂

"Nessun Dorma" is an aria from Puccini's opera Turandot and is one of the most sung arias in opera. The late great Luciano Pavarotti is the most famous of those but it has been sung by most opera tenors at some point. I've listened to many renditions of it by professional opera singers and I've really enjoyed Rob & Austin's version. I sincerely hope that hearing them will cause more people to listen to opera rather than dismiss it out of hand.

Wasn't particularly impressed with this during the initial handful of times I watched it which was disappointing given that I was anxiously looking forward to it. First viewed at the premiere, and then with various reactors. Discovered it wasn't the singing but my own 'stuff' brought on by aspects of the visuals. I'm not a fan of opera but have certainly heard this sung many times, including by Pavarotti. Now that I've heard it a few times w/o the video, I'm even more impressed by what we now know Rob is capable of (aware he'd previously done opera) and pleasantly surprised by Austin taking on this challenge and stepping up into territory in which Rob is more proficient. I've seen what these guys are capable of as members of Home Free, and Austin, individually. Is this perfect...however one defines that? IMO, no. Was this a valiant effort for a first try?
