Ever since watching SGA kicking my nation's ass in the World Cup last summer, I felt that he was ready for prime time and to lead OKC for playoffs runs in the future. He is incredible.
Must be the new fans who are only familiar with the Modern NBA who would think Shai’s game wouldn’t translate. Mid range shots are the shots that translate in the playoffs more than any style consistently. They don’t watch him if they think he relies on the whistle. SGA was getting to his spots and doing what he does lol
Thunder are better when he’s on the bench, he holds the ball too much and gets only difficult shots. Makes some of them but misses plenty. It’s not good basketball only reason this series is tied 2-2 is because luka is dog shit and should be benched
He really went crazy last night. 4th quarter 4 tough midranges in a row with a tough floater before that run. Luka was really the one throwing him self on the ground trying to foul bait. Sga can turn the corner better than anyone!
I think it is not just his incredible shotmaking, he also is consistantly able to create space, even just a little to get his shot off. He is shooting over much bigger guys a lot of the time. This is stuff I've seen DeRozan and Ingram do a ton for years now, but he seems to be even a little better at it, despite having a smaller frame.
It would definitely help. They are contesting them far better now though, Dallas clearly adjusted and is even contesting Giddey now. (as a late rotation) Still, I'm expecting at least a few more of them to go in, especially for guys like Isaiah Joe, who even got the start last game.
It is not just his game, he also has the clutch gene. He's never been an insane 3 point shot, but I've seen him consistantly hit them in the 4th quarter when it matters. That is just elevating your game at the right time. Ofcourse he can't always win a game on his own, but I've seen him being the only offense for so many games, the rest of the team then gets a chance to clamp up on defense and string some stops together for a potential win.
I’m so tired of the “free throw merchant” shit when he and Luka averaged the same amount of free throws in the regular season, even though Luka shoots 10 3’s a game while Shai shoots less than 4
I've seen a lot of "the Thunder shouldn't have won this game." But they did. That can't be taken away. There's not enough "could have, should have, would have" in the entire universe that is going to change that.
I remember when Kawhi wanted PG13 & so the Clippers got what Kawhi asked for.But hindsight is 20/20,they gave the Thunder Shai.I wonder what the Clipper fans are thinking now.And I'm hearing that the Clippers maybe shopping PG13. All I can say is thank you Clippers, thank you very much.🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
Why not thank Kawhi? He was a champion and thought he could get what he wanted. A free ride to the bench relaxing from his last title run. It worked for a couple of years
SGA's been consistently really good. The concern for the Thunder is being able to generate consistent offense outside of him, which is way more likely to end their season than Shai not performing.
If our guys can just get back to the efficiency that they had during the season, this series is over in 6! We haven’t been shooting well, J Dub and Chet need to step it up on offense. j Dub needs to start scoring more consistently and Chet needs to find his outside shot again. Then if Dort can shoot better like we all know he can, if giddy can take advantage of how the mavs are disrespecting him and start taking the ball in and scoring and our bench keeps performing it’s game over. But our offense needs to remember what we where in the regular season
OKC succeeds where LAC didn't, because of Kawhi's injury. LAC went down with the 3s exactly because they didn't have mid-range options. Still OKC must solve the defense problem, both at perimeter and on paint. So much alley oops even tho, as Luka said "there is five guys collapse in the paint". PS: Dallas fans always complain about Shai's FT but no one saw Luka flop at 96-94 to miss a crucial FT.
It's not "if". SGA has been amazing in all 5 games, he only won 2. Luka was ok in 2 and great in 1, he won those 3. It just seems the Mavs have more control in this series.
In this game, we saw more than ever how well deserved SGA's MVP noise was. He was incredible the entire game, despite not really getting calls for fouls that were clearly made against him. (which weren't called often in this game for some reason) He kept the Thunder in the game for most of the game and ran away with it in the end. It was amazing to see him just ignore going to the rim altogether and just go full DeRozan and being scorching hot from midrange. Some of those shots were incredibly difficult and nearly all of them were contested where he only managed to get an inch of space to shoot over the defender. I'm a bit sad that we still didn't get to see Luka performing at his level, this game even Kyrie didn't ramp it up with this scoring at the end of the game, though to be honest they both played very well on the defensive end and especially Kyrie created a ton of offense with his passing. Lets hope for some more great games.
@@twinzl Yea, he was close to what he would play like in the regular season, a little sluggish and he clearly still has about 4 injuries. Still, it was nice to finally have a functioning Luka back. I was surprised the game was never really close, mainly because of the Mavs completely shutting off the paint, except for a few possessions in the early 4th quarter.
Chet is amazing and shea is a #1 on a title team kinda guy but okc may have fked up a tile shot by not getting another big with one of the 15 first rounders they have nxt 6 years. If they have Clint capela rn coming off bench. Or even a John Collins. It's would heat them alot.
The theory is 5 out, a trad big clogs up the lane. It might change because dallas owned the lane without okc having a big and still challenging the 3. I guess we’ll see if they change with their draft pick.
No they should traded for miles turner an elite shot blocker, he can stroke the three ans a good rebounder... if we had turner we would of ran thru the west..... or if we would have taken jalen duren over ousmane dieng in the draft two years ago once again we'd be running thru the west easily with him... but I still have high hopes for ousmane dieng.
@zachrowe6271 as the suns blew out minnesota in all their reg season games. Not saying they'd crumble as well, especially considering how the refs switched up on the wolves midway through this round. However reg season isn't always in correlation
Possibly! But I think both the wolves and nuggets have different weaknesses that either the mavs or thunder may be able to exploit. For the nugs alot of it is depth and can be defense(depending on scheme and personnel). For wolves, I don't love the footspeed of their bigs and their players still haven't proven it on the biggest stage yet either. Idk. Could see okc and Dallas hunting the bigs on switches for instance.
I mean, let’s be real It took a really bad second half and historically bad free throw shooting for OKC to win by four points I have a good feeling that Luka is going to go off the next game think like when he had his games six and seven against the suns where he just went nuclear.
@@dsbeats5657 i mean PJ Washington has been playing way above his usual level of play for the Mavs to win games 2 and 3. Not sure how you can wrap up those excuses for the Mavs in game 4 without mentioning Washington playing a stretch of basketball, which isnt likely sustainable for the whole 7 game series.
I’ve never seen a player complain on every single call like him. Rather they miss or make the shot he says something every single possession. Maybe it’s just what fuels him lol idk but it’s annoying.
@@VVVY777 Well, he didn't complain in game 5. So the Thunder fans should be happy when Luka complains because that's when he's not playing good. When he doesn't complain and just smiles, you're in trouble.
The real clutch player of the year Curry won the sympathy award just like Gobert This idea of 5 points or less under 5 minutes it's just dumb and easy to remember so the casuals can have something they feel like they understand but obviously that's completely artificial and doesn't really measure real clutchness exactly like triple doubles aren't real stats What's so special about 10 that is so much better than 9 25 17 7 like joker often does isn't recorded as a stat because it's not a triple double but sabonis 17 15 11 is Who had a better game? But the triple double gets recorded as a specific stat line just because 10 it's cooler than 9 Real clutchness is in the playoffs So regular season most clutch player doesn't even make sense especially in a team that never was in the playoffs picture or contending all year long and never truly in danger of not being part of the play in What can be clutch about gsw season if they had no stakes whatsoever for the all year? Nothing to lose nothing to gain Too good to be worse than Houston too bad to dream of winning any games in the playoffs What clutchness can be accomplished when there is no risk or potential reward? Obviously playoffs is where clutchness is at If you really want to pretend that you can award it on regular season get the regular season games closest to look like a playoffs game in consideration In Curry clutch season highlights after he won the award 3 minutes out of the 9 of the video he was playing against pistons and Washington lol
I mean, if it wasn’t for the Mavs having a historically shit free throw night this wouldn’t have been a game. And don’t be surprised when Luka goes off in the next game because he’s just like that for some reason. 😂
Its not apparent to the average fan, okc is play a war of attrition. Its remains to be seen what strategy wins out. When players lose their legs, they lose their shot. Missed bunnies, free throws ect. Double teaming the 2 stars has been a push. Kyrie had many great assists but at crunch time they haven’t found the rhythm yet. Coaching and shai is the difference in the series. If okc finds the 3 again, it’s over. Good series and it looks like its going to 7 simply because of two days rest for game 6.
Luka, dak and romo are all the same. Praised without doing a damn thing. The thunder are not the clippers. We will not roll over, was luka fouled on that free throw?
Mavs fans lmao, okc literally shot terrible all night and still won. Okc can never be counted out because we are a late quarter team. Okc knows how to win.
Didn't want to make you guys upset, I'm just saying he plays more aggressive until he gets to a certain mark, I just wish he would keep the same energy when he gets to that mark
Dk why this guy got 2 last names. Would sound way better if he was just Shai Alexander. Same with KAT- Karl Towns sound way better. Having 3 names is goofy.
Horrible take😭. SGA is buggin out rn but his team is better than that cavs team. J-Dub averaged 20 on the year and Chet averaged 16 points and 2 blocks on almost 40% from 3.
Yep. Now that they are eliminated, they can face the fact that this team is CLEARLY worse than that team. It's somewhat obvious. I kept saying this to thunder fans, and they were saying "you are a hater". No. I know the reality of the situation, and the reality is that this team is worst than that one and that team was in position to win the title, this one isn't quite there yet. Not having experience almost was countered then because the team talent was huge then. Now it's not as big.
SGA (as a Mavs fan) has been a great player this series. He showed how clutch he is when it matters like game 4. However the mavs lost this game OKC didn't win it. Mad probs to SGA very efficient game by him but OKC as a team isn't there. See u guys in OKC for game 5
