Hi it's Doctor Nassif. I'm answering some rhinoplasty questions for my RU-vid channel. This one is: What are the potential complications that can arise during a revision rhinoplasty because of having thick nasal skin?
The thing is if the doctor tries to devasculize or thin the tissue, you can necrose, or basically kill the skin of the nose so I don't do that. You have to be careful. The biggest thing is not a complication, but just a natural healing issue; it's swelling. With thicker skin, usually, you could have more swelling. Also, if you take out too much cartilage and you need that extra cartilage to support the nose, you can make the nose more amorphous and less defined with thick skin.
You can also not see the results you want with thick skin. If you want a really nice, sharp, defined tip, sometimes you cannot achieve that with thick skin. Hope that helps.
