Ha ha. You should do one about lead singers. You know how many lead singers it takes to screw in a lightbulb? Just one to hold the lightbulb and the whole world revolves around him.
I would still love to be a front man in a band. And believe me I would be humble and not bark orders. It is a band effort, not just one individual. lol
atranfanatic Well said. Yes, of course a band should be a band but always egos. It's not always the singer, I just kind of like to pick on singers the way Glenn from SSS picks on bass players. Maybe it's because my singer in my band when I was in my 20's had an ego.
I got a drum stick launched perfectly into my mouth and into my throat while at band practice a couple months back sadly im the singer and i sounded like shit afterwards (more than i normally do)
Yeah I've been playing for 20 years now and I don't think I've ever said about 75% of that shit at any point. His description does say that this video is a parody of other videos titled "things drummers say in the studio". So either he worded that wrong, or he intends for this video to be extremely unfunny to any actual drummer.
xxxPinkyGSterxxx That's the thing though, I didnt giggle. It does say the video is a parody, so maybe he's making fun of how annoying and stupid these types of videos are.
I really like it, when a drummer beefs about his ´kick sound. I then usually push some buttons on the console that do absolutely nothing, telling them I'd adjust EQs and compression. Then I ask them which sound they prefer: chances are that almost 99 out of 100 say "Oh yeah, now it's much better - really love that sound!"
From my personal experience as an Engineer. "We're getting some levels, can you give me your kit, one piece at a time?" *tap.... tap... tap* "Okay, can you hit it like you mean it?" *tap... tap tap tap...* "Nonono, like how you're gonna play." "That IS how I play!!!" "Alright fine.." *Finish checking levels* "Okay, let's do a dry run, 3, 2, 1.." *EVERYTHING FUCKING CLIPS*
* band I played bass in recording our demo circa 2004 * “Man, you gotta stop hitting the snare like this {|} [makes diamond shape around his own crotchetal area with his hands]” - recording engineer to our drummer
+Wafl Kone been playing 6 years, and I'm at an advanced level by now. Also play percussion and am learning guitar so I know a bit about music. I still say Ringo Starr sucks
As a drummer, for whatever reason it's a pain in the ass for me to try to do something at the tempo of a metronome. Give me any sort of riff and I can figure out the right tempo easy, but something about metronomes just doesn't click with how my brain understands playing. It's probably related to how the metronome clicks on every beat when most drummers only accent two beats for every four-beat measure (as an example), but I'm not entirely sure.
being a drummer myself..i can understand what bowser here is saying. i can tap my foot and figure out the BPM of any song just by doing that really..but..i try to metronome it out and it throws me off severely. maybe cause im not a music reader either..eh. idunno. i assign the "clicks" as it were to notes.
"I think you messed up the guitar part. Yea you did....It's wrong." Fuck, that's my drummer right there. I just throw him the look like, "Bitch are you serious? Just play your damn phrasing"
Daniel Scarlett once me and the bassest got into a physical fight since i thought he fucked up the part and he thought i messed up the drum part. I hit him with a stick lol he was the one that played it wrong also
1:13 and 3:21 are me all over. My bandmates told me once that I actually play better when they're not in the room. :') Social anxiety and drum beats do not mix!
"MY PEDAL IS SLIPING!" That always happen to me. Like at the middle of the song i reach at the natural place where it was before and my feet falls into the void of death...
I appreciate drummers more after going through multiple and realizing that the drummer can actually make or break the band. Especially when it comes to writing drum parts. I've gone through a ton of drummers. And because of that I've come to realize that the drummer, in my opinion, and as the front man and vocalist, is the most important part of the band.
"Im the drummer, so fuck you guys" you don't know how often I say something similar to that😂 a situation is like Band: "No thats not how we practiced" Me: "Im the drummer, fuck you...ill just experiment to piss you off" And that is why im not in a band anymore😂😂
Ryan Mooney No, not even then. Do you think that Keith Moon, John Bonham or Bill Ward used click tracks? Or any of the great drummers of the 60's, 70's and 80's? And if a drummer uses a click live, he shouldn't even be considered a drummer.
You're right that a drummer doesn't NEED a click track, but a drummer should, because if they go off beat, then they've just fucked up the entire song if they don't have a click track.
