@@DnBGolfyep, they were my introduction to metal. I really could not care less about their stuff now, but I really got into metal because of an ffdp song on a Madden soundtrack. I don't like to admit it, but they were definitely my favorite metal band at one point lmao

@@ackyducc5040I got into tech and death metal from metalcore and I got into metalcore from post-hardcore. I probably listened to post-hardcore after digging punk from Tony Hawks Pro Skater series and also listened to Korn before that... But my dad played older rock a lot when I was little, so I guess it's all down to Meatloaf, really 😂

100%. Back when bands had message boards and you could actually talk to band members, it was kinda cool at first, but it always devolved into a bunch of emotionally unstable teenagers and early 20 something's arguing about absolutely nothing, and usually the worst people became the moderators.

@dmcosiris1678 That's only really with early 2000s melodic metalcore (melodic coming from melodeath metal) like Killswitch, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, old A7X etc. A sick modern band worth checking out reviving that sound is Dying Wish, they blend modern hardcore punk elements in aswell.

This was gloriously cathartic for me. I remember one time I was in a twitch stream and someone came out with the "Metallica isn't true metal" garbage, I just retorted with "true metal is just nonsense for gatekeepers", they tried to bait me into proving my "metal credentials" but it was like "dude, you're going by the screenname VARG, I don't have to prove anything to you" Also I'm gonna have to investigate Spiritbox, you have me curious

Spirit box was actually good. I saw them perform with mastodon and ghost in Atlanta a couple of years ago. I'm not sure I would travel to see them personally but she was a good musician.
