Diet award will honestly make the diet more motivating. The society demands idols to be skinny imo, not the industry. Idols who looks heavier than the norm when debut won't succeed, guaranteed. As we see, even the current one if gaining weight will be called lazy by the netizens, and labelled like 'they look like ordinary human, not idol' lol Except when you're a boy group, they won't be criticized as much
They know EXACTLY what they are doing. The lives of these young girls mean nothing to them. As long as the girls bring in money, the executives don't care if they starve.
Oh they know but they don’t care. I was a professional figure skater in Russia the trainers would break you down at a very young age and separate you from your parents so you depend on them that they are your “mother or father” I would starve nearly everyday. Trust me they 100 percent no 1000 percent know what they are doing but they do not care. The diet awards is another sick way for motivation so you will have more motivation to diet
it really depends on the company. some companies, like jyp, don’t have training debt, meaning the idols get payed immediately, or close to debut, whereas smaller companies like MLD have no choice but to give debt.
@@metho8662especially with small companies they will always add random debts and not give the idols the breakdown so they have no idea how much each event is costing them to go to. An ex-crayon pop member did an interview that their company added thousands in debt every time they went to an overseas schedule
@@metho8662 most companies put the expenses of MVs, transportation, and hair and makeup onto the idols as debt so there was probably no way she would’ve made money in that company.
For line distribution, it's kinda true. I think Suju already share their opinion bout this, especially Heechul. He's happy that he paid the same as KRY while having much more less line than them 😅 Less energy more money
In the case of Heechul, from what I know, it is a little different because after his car accident, he couldn't do hard and strong choreography. So he told the members not to make it easy because of him, and they agreed to do that. He continues participating in the songs, just making a small appearance and rarely participating in the dance. Or at least that is what i know and have heard as a long time fan.
Depends on the idol some might feel like less lines are limiting their potential or the kind they're supposed to get because they're capable constantly goes other members
It depends on the person but I totally see it. As someone who does theater I like having roles where I have some but not a lot of lines, it’s less to learn and memorize 🤷♀️
Fans are soooo obsessed with line distribution it’s actually embarrassing cuz they don’t even know what they’re talking about. And yeah I feel like if I was in a Kpop group and I knew I couldn’t sing as well as the other members, I wouldn’t want as much/more lines than them 😭.
@deannaw9128 they're idol with many positions rapper, dancer, vocalist and visuals and each idol should be best in their positions while also have the skills for other things since 3rd generation, fans are more obsessed with dancers while visuals are always the top priority and the vocalist of a group is always an underrated gem.
The "line distribution" reminds me of what Zi Tao (former EXO member) said to chinese trainess from a show. He said they (his members) didn't even fight for line distribution because it's better to give more lines to famous members in order to get more attention for their group. And about the trainess' debt, sometimes or most of the time, idols who debuted didn't get proper or enough pay until a year or two because of how big it is and sometimes it used as a reason for companies to cheat them even though their (kpop groups) groups are famous and have enough income to payed their debt. The company will tell the idols that it's not yet enough or they not finish paying yet and that will be the reason why idols will work harder, making them sick and tired just to pay them in order to get what they work for not knowing that the company was just use them as a cash cow.
That should be regulated, i think that is more important that the chores thing that around now, also the debuting minor and the unhealthy diets and schedules.
@@soumyaprajith4710 I trained under JYP, hybe and FNC. My most recent JYP which I stayed Untill I left because of health problems. I will coke back when I complete my surgery.
At last someone talking about lesser line distributions because I'm sick of all the fans saying the company isn't treating thuer idols better just cuz of that
Exactly, the members with least lines are mostly the worst singers of the group and 2nd of all line distribution is all about how much you fit the song and whether you are capable to do those notes
@@supercalifragilisticexpialido6not necessarily tho there’s great singers that don’t get shit either but maybe their voices just don’t fit a particular song
I'm not talking about specific idols, but I bet idols who are not that great of a vocalist would love having fewer lines, especially if the group consists of more than 5 members. MV/Live screen time is better than having more lines. There have always been at least one or two members that are not that great at singing, even since 2nd gen. But companies did a great job at not revealing it too much. Nowadays groups don't have clear positions of who is who and fans campaigned for idols to have even lines, the lesser vocalist is more apparent now.
Momoland was mistreated so badly and not paying enough is another concern. The trainee awards could be based off talent or something but why diet??? Also forcing an idol to change their choices, personality is sooooo far….and yes line distribution is not a major problem as long as the members are okay with it….as the creator mentioned it varies with idol and not everyone would have experienced the same….
It wasn't cube 😂😂, actually don't know but there're a lot bad companies for different reasons, i don't know how pick the worst one, truly sad for the artists 😢
@@danilecanda125 cube is bad don't get me wrong but MLD is for sure worse than cube by a long run. also usually idols end up in the companies they're in because they want to debut. you can't really be picky at that point
@@kkukkungie8018 yeah, i get that, a lot of trainees change from "good" companies to the really "bad" ones, because they want to debut and in the other they see it as impossible, is kinda sad. But in the long time i have been following kpop, there's is a lot of news and stories that sound like true horror stories, like the case of G.NA and cube, i don't remember the group but they were physically abused by the CEO, companies that forced their idols and trainees (men and woman, adults and underage) to served alcohol and "entertained" importan business man and investors all night and a lot of other things. Sometime i think if there's a point in an idol life that they sit down and think, Whether it was worth it for everything they went through to get to where they are or not, especially with groups that don't become well-known or successful.
The only thing that matters with line distribution is who sings on the chorus. For certain agencies (HYBE is one), whoever sings on the chorus gets a bigger cut financially. But since that is only for song royalties, it adds up to very little anyway.
She must had cried a lot cuz she still dont get lines. Twice lines really only go to Nayeon n occasionally Mina n Jihyo. Its a shame that lines can be unfair. I heard some where else someone who was an idol didn’t care for lines. But someone else they spoke with didn’t want a lot either. But def there are idols who want more n others that want less.
@@hilaholo6822 every idol can have different experiences, while daisy and heechul may feel like it’s less of a burden chaeyoung already confessed she cried because of it
@@hilaholo6822In the case of Heechul, from what I know, it is a little different because after his car accident, he couldn't do hard and strong choreography. I totally get enjoying having less lines. For one, 4th gen choreos, especially for girl groups, are hella intense, so with less lines, you can focus on dancing. For another, if you have more lines, it tires you out more. Sometimes it’s nice to not be front and center all the time.
I think majority of these go for idols who didn't sign up to be singers but for idols who did and are capable constantly getting over looked in line distribution as it goes to popular members can be annoying
Just as a fact for people who don't know, smaller companies have the trainee debts to make up for the costs of training them and debuting the group, but big companies (like the big 3 + Hybe) don't have this debt as the companies have enough money so even if the idols fail, they won't exactly go bankrupt (except maybe YG cuz they don't make as many groups. I'm not sure)
YES diet award sounds depressing and disgusting but realistically that "diet award" exists because "FANS EXPECTATIONS TO IDOLS" ARE TO HIGH SO FOR THEM "SKINNY IS THE STANDARD" BODY SHAPE FOR IDOLS.. Healthy body shapes for them are unexpectable, they end up getting a lot of hate and criticism.. Sad but it's true
I feel like this is very unsurprising. If you were a fan of K-pop back in the day when like AOA was at their Hay Day and fnc was like a bigger name than it is now as a company you would know that they did like a reality show with the girls and they were on diets I remember them being like weighed in front of the staff and everyone on camera while they filmed it and then they told her they were allowed to eat food while the other girls got like chicken and stuff they got like a potato and some salad because they didn't lose enough weight. I've also seen other X trainees come out and talk about how they would get weighed in front of everyone they basically have a scale in the front and everyone would have to walk up get weed and then they would tell you if you lost or gained weight in front of everybody. In terms of money unless you come from one of the big companies in your group is super popular as soon as you debut you're actually just gaining debt which is kind of sad. But I also feel like you have to understand that companies do this on purpose. Like if they have you in debt to them and you can make them a bunch of money they'll do that. Not to mention I feel like the only way for a smaller group to make a lot of money is that they somehow managed to get ambassador ships because those are normally a pretty penny you're talking a couple hundred thousands of dollars just to get a celebrity sign on even if it is like a smaller idol because it would be opening up the Korean market. And that would be just pure income because the company is not paying for anything so they would just deduct however much money they need to from your paycheck.
if i was an idol having less lines is like a miracle, id rather stay out of the spotlight than be overworked to death. on the other hand what in the fuck is a diet award?? do trainees collect awards as if they’re pokemons??? why do companies have to treat their idols like dolls??
Remember when SISTAR Soyou showed on “Happy Together” how girls helped reduce their weight during weigh-ins by holding their hair in ponytails and then basically PULLING IT so it didn’t seem like they had more weight? No? I do.
@@jade5202 I feel like you should go watch the clip so you can understand what I mean because it doesn’t sound like you do. Idk which episode number it is but SISTAR, HyunA, and I think. Henry and Amber were on it.
imo, these poor girls really should get some real life sense before committing to career of kpop idols. if you are not good enough for the big3 - fuck it up, lets find a more reasonable job to do. there are plenty of advantages that you could get only at big companies. they charge less payments and your debut is 100% payback in like first three months. you will always have a better promotions and career choices in a long term, access to luxury brands as well. the quality of music, style and how others treat you is just different. smaller companies will get you in debt for sure and you can never earn enough money to live it rich and effortless. they usually heavily exploit their idols, but chances of your success are so low it all would be more like a nightmare than a dream. dozens of different nugu groups debuting each year, but in the world of big3 influence they are literally nothing. i pity them and at the same time don’t understand this dreamy look about being an idol.
^^american (&most other countries) labels don’t have debt because they don’t have a trainee system. the debt in kpop comes from training and living expenses the company pays for predebut
@@armyonce6962 your right, but some American labels (if they scout groups) choose to do free training and basically just prepare them for debut rather than like extensive training. However if a soloist is scouted they can do whatever
American record labels are infamous for getting new artists to sign bad contracts. Instead of training, it's fees and salaries for recording studios, production, managers, etc. They're meant to pay it off from album sales, but it adds up to so much, the artists can end up with next to nothing if they're not careful.
i would understand if the line difference is in small percentage, or at least a proper senteces. but in a case the idol only sang "hey!" "lalalala" or one or two random word i think its a problem
The few lines makes sense some idols can’t sing and probably ask for few lines so they can be known for dancing more but it’s sad when they do know how to sing and get few lines
aside from the more shocking stuff, i already kinda suspected the lines thing lol. having more lines doesn't always seem to correlate w popularity and i can imagine it feels like a lot of pressure if you're singing like half the song but still have to do the same choreo as everyone else
It’s ridiculous that idols have to pay their companies for training. Like I can see an argument for a company getting reimbursed for providing housing and meals, but in what world is it okay for a company to charge employees for training? Like imagine getting hired and your boss was like “ok your salary is $50k, the first month or two will be mostly training, for which you will be charged $70k”
@@melekbasri1575I guess, though I’d still argue that the ones that actually debut should have their debt cleared. But I’ve also heard of idols having to cover the cost of lessons even after they debut.
no, again, like daisy said it isnt the same for all people. le sserafim’s sakura said she personally requested to not have too many lines in their songs. just because its a big deal for one idol doesnt mean its a big deal for others and vice versa. one idol doesnt speak for all
@@sss-pw3rt Imagine that an idol wants to have more lines but the company tells him no, that's sad. or if an idol wants fewer lines, they say no and give them more
Are anyone else wondering how idols are getting charged 150,000 for training? I’m dead serious when I say that I think what they get isn’t that expensive. Dance lessons, vocal lessons, and some other things depending on your situation. Like do you live in the dorms or do you live at your parents house? Do you eat (nothing) at the company or do you eat what you’re parents made you. Like how are idols that much in debt?
Well most of the idols in the industry trained for years so everything you mentioned, multiply it for 5. Some trainees not even debut as idols so they never paid their debt.
Also costs towards the actual debut to paying for sets, stylists, studio time etc. which are all expansion not to mention that all of the things you mentioned accumulate over years
This is only from the company. People need to realize it depends on the company, it’s not the whole industry. For example, KQ entertainment has so much freedom for their artists. They don’t even force diets, it’s their own choice if they want to. So, all in all, don’t label it as a whole. Yes, it’s happens and there are harsh things but that’s because of the people in the company. There are bad companies out there. It’s not the whole industry
Don't think all the companies are like that. But, they all do one thing or another that I don't like. MOMO was told to lose X amount of weight in one week, if she wanted to debut with the group. She said - _"I felt so weak that when I went to sleep, I cried because I was scared that I wouldn't wake up in the morning."_
They’re dang near pimping them! This is one of the first things that I found out upon joining my first fandom, back in 2014, & I immediately stopped stanning groups with terrible management. Since they’re treated like items, I felt their contracts may be terminated earlier if they lose fans. Not so sure how true that theory may be though.. I’d still support them individually of course!!❤
I feel that's why being in big companies like JYP,YG etc are good for debt bcz every company pays for their trainee to train them well and that debt the idol to pay once they debut but being in big company u can pay it all quickly bcz u get payed more. Diet award shouldn't be there I feel bcz a trainee life is one of the most exhausted life bcz u have to overwork so much then dieting skipping meals will make u unfit and its not good for ur health u can have medical issues. I feel like idols shall be free to express their opinions, choices rather than putting a choice the company wants them to say. Yeah, I feel having less lines ain't a issue for idols bcz u have less burden or u have to overwork than ur groupmates. But I also feel having too less lines ain't even that good bcz ur talent is hidden all the time. I also feel being a idol doesn't means the company will own you,bcz they will make you wear uncomfortable and unsecure clothes, getting surgeries even if u don't want to ur forced to.
I feel like for the most part companies will give lines to the idol that fits the song the best as obviously every idols voice will fit better for a different song or maybe they’re not as strong of a vocalist
This applies to Loona members too. Just because the company could “flex” with big mvs, each member got a solo debut and etc we thought everything was okay, when in reality the company holds their money to be in debt forever. K-pop is a shady business.
People always judge what they see on the screen, they think idols js dance and sing and have stages everyday but they go throught things like this everyday. Not all companies do all these things but a lot might do some of these things. Hybe groups rn are going throught a lot nowdays but everyone is critizicing them without even know the reason why they're doing bad, they hate the artists when it could also be the agency's fault
imo, screentime is far more relevant that line distribution. like, my bias only has 10 sec and the main vocalist has 30 ? okay that’s chill. but if you don’t actually SEE my bias in the music video until the second chorus, now we have an issue lmao.
While diet award sounds bad, we know that all idols and trainees are forced to diet - at least when there's an award the one that does it the best gets something out of it I reckon... and I know from idols like Sakura and Jin, there definitely are idols that prefer less vocal lines so not surprised.
Putting Jisoo's face on line distribution part is kind of denying years of her fan's wish to see her get more lines when daisy said that it need not be true for every group.
Everyone acting like the debt thing is so unfathomable and evil fails to realise the deal is much better than going to college in most of the Western world. The average time it takes to repay a student debt is 21 years whereas, even with Momoland barely being a middling group at best, Daisy paid off her MUCH larger debt in under 4 years. She saw no money for herself in that time, but the company covered her costs for accomodation, food, clothes etc and she had easy access to numerous luxuries regular people have to work much longer to be able to afford or enjoy without going broke. I’d say that’s a great bloody deal from a company that invested over $100,000 into giving you a chance at becoming rich yourself. Even the diet thing… have y’all been living under a rock or something? Go to any ballet academy, go to any American football academy or even go to a youth football club over in England. Tough expectations on children in high competition fields is the norm around the world; it isn’t unique or especially bad in Kpop.
Both of the things that you said are true, it not like they don't have were to live or food or anything like that, is normal and logic that they have to "pay" the money that was invested in them (and don't come from their or family pockets either), and is not a small investment to train an idol, and people often forget that they know what they are getting in to, is not like they are forced to become an idol is their choice, and some group pay the debt faster than others, even are groups were some members paid their debt faster than the other members because solo activities, for example yoona of girls generation. And other thing, i don't know if still like that, but at les in the past idol have corporate cards, that they can used to pay food and other things. And the diet thing, is true that you can see it in a lot of disciplines, like ballet, gymnastics, boxing, american football and a lot of other ones. But i think that the problem is more because the extreme of them, and is not just in idols or korea, is in mostly all of the entertainment industry, like models, actors/actress and others, i remenber when models would eat cotton balls so they wouldn't feel hungry, and also the agencies will, beacuse they still do it, demand to the models to have certain measurements, chests, waist, hips and everything possible, so you can said that they have it worst. Even France in the 2000~2010 have to implement a law for fashion shows and brands to don't have models that were extremely skinny, because they were dying and it was a bad example for young children. Because of that nowadays model are skinny but not bones with skin like back then.
