March Of The Machine story for Magic: the Gathering
Chandra and Wrenn ignore the warnings of their fellow planeswalkers and head to New Phyrexia. She may want to help survivors there, and save the multiverse, but primarily she wants so somehow rescue Nissa. Can they succeed on a world already lost?

It's over for Nissa. So much potential, but the same problem as Jace: too much power, too much of a unique point of view, too much of a challenge to write. Maybe someday we'll see them exploring actual difficult questions and dilemmas, and not just from pg13 points of view.

Travelling by Planar Bridge severely injures and weakens its user like what happened to Urabrask in New Capenna. It's reasonable to think that Urabrask is still in a weakened state hence the need for hiding and limiting skirmishes.

Maybe it's the best time. Usually planeswalkers are sent first where they can grow their abilities best or where they get, what they are needing. Perhaps he goes where he find's the perfect anti-phyrexia-weapon. I could Imagine someone from Lorehold would be sent where he can find ancient wisdom about the Phyrexians. Original Phyrexia maybe. Or he simply walks to a plane so far away he's safe and we never see him again 😂

All they do is change the foiling and border of the cards and call it a new set. And add Masters or Remastered and then charge $15 a pack instead of 4 or $5 a pack.

Great chapter, Chandra confronting Nissa was something i was expecting considering the close relationship they've had. I hope Urabrask it's only underdeveloped in the story, being against the other praetors was what mande him interesting. Time will tell.

Urabrask has been teased to us for so long as the "phyrexian x-factor" that I'm frankly starting to lose patience with the character. Either he needs to go all out helping the resistance, or hurry up and get outed as a "double agent." I've actually been looking forward to a confrontation between Urabrask and Elesh Norn. Like a "boss fight," or something of that nature. At least that would be SOMETHING!

I enjoyed how depressingly op the phyrexians came off in all will be one. This saga of stories …there seems like there’s too much individuality amongst the phyrexians and it seems like they’re all being repelled to easily ? Lukka and tamyio got taken out too easily imo. Same with Nissa here

Lukka is a master at his craft, though. The craft of just... failing... Jokes aside, maybe that's a side-effect of spreading too far too fast? The unity being spread thin, allowing for more and more holes to form in the hive mind? That said, even before this set, we did have indicatives of individuality all around, with Urabrask and Sheoldred, and even Ixhel. Hells, even Elesh Norn being so adamant about being the new 'Mother of Machines' is a strong indicator of individuality.

Regarding Urabrask doing stuff and "where are the furnace Phyrexians?" I believe Ayara was previewed as "Queen of the Furnace" or something similar back at the first look of the set, so Urabrask might be hedging his bets both with invading and trying to be top Praetor in New Phyrexia. Then again, the Eldrain side story today seemed to end Ayara as quickly as she was introduced so who even knows. Also, it seems like we either have a gaping plot hole or sloppy retcon in this chapter? Back in ONE's story Koth and Melira found Karn's remains at Norn's Basilica and spent quite a number of words setting up explosives and stuff to free him. Then, in this chapter, Koth speaks about Karn and saving him as if they never actually saw him. Did they fail the rescue? Are they trying to be coy and pretend they didn't rescue him already so in case people are captured they don't know? Honestly feels like they forgot when the story changed hands between expansions/authors.

Elesh norn came from the same room to enter the core, so most likely, right before they could free karn, or right after they plucked him out, she and the other compleated planeswalkers walk in, and force a retreat in which I imagine norn or one of the planeswalkers nabed karn from their clutches

@@Loyd64 From what I could read there was some significant distance between the Karn altar and where the fight took place with Kaya, Kaito, and Jace. They went across the long bridge were Ajani and Tibalt were, and then the three remaining members of the strike force went "deeper and deeper" into the citadel, so much so that "the sounds of battle faded," so it wasn't quite as simple as moving from one door through the other if the makes sense? That said, I agree that is one way to interpret the vague line Koth says of "We lost Karn" in the chapter. However, it would have been really easy to say something like "Damn, we were THIS close to freeing him!" or something to clarify. Otherwise, to me at least, it feels needlessly ambiguous or is another moment of planting a story seed that doesn't seem to go anywhere. Guess we'll just have to see in the remaining week or so of chapters.

I feel like the fact that Elish Norn knew that Chandra and Wrenn would be comming could stem from Jace since the Planeswalkers keep their memory that would mean that Jace would create counter plans to each Planeswalker which he would then give to Elish Norn And for Urabrask I feel like he might want to wait until both sides got weakend enough so that he could wipe out Elish Norn and compleate the Multiverse in his image Also can´t wait for Elspeth to finally show up

as an additional cost, sac a creature or planeswalker... if a planeswalker was sacrificed, spell deals X more damage where X is half their loyalty, rounded up. that feels a tad OP to me though.

The reprints that this set perfectly opens up for are all the useful lands that are nomrally limited to the sets on specific planes. So this interplaner set can have all the best lands like the tiromes from Ikoria, and lairs from New Kappena, castles from Eldraine, and dual lands from Ravnika, and all of those other useful lands from all the planes!

I feel like Garruk would make the perfect foil to Ajani. Maybe, they will bring him back. Remember on Strixhaven when quintorius wondered about the twins. I think that is foreshadowing and opens up for the story to focus on their whereabouts. Maybe 1 of the twins gets compleated? The twins were with Garruk before strixhaven. Maybe they found each other again and then through someway they may team up with the other walkers and fend off the phyrexian invasion.

Hi again, Seiben. I'm now getting Yakuza: Like a Dragon vibes from Chandra's confrontation with compleated Nissa. Chandra is similar to Ichiban Kasuga from said Yakuza game because they're both hotheads who often wear red, I'll add. What adds to the comparison is that Chandra has to confront someone who was close to her the way that Ichiban had to fight someone whom he loved like a brother. If there are Yakuza fans among the MTG fandom, hope that you also see the parallels.

huh I really don’t like how omnipotent they’re trying to make norn. No way a pure white praetor (twisted version of white mind you) can see 4 red alligned characters’ plan this easy (it was barely a plan, they were just winging it every step, truly red mages). Nothing would change if Nissa and the centurions were just the normal protection for the tree instead of “I saw your plans and prepared a plan for your plans”

Actually with how powerful norn is now I would be surprised if she had a bunch of sleeper agents around keeping tabs on everyone so she knows whats up also urabrasks ideologies directly conflict with norns so I am doubtful that urabrask is helping her in any way

It's foolish to trust Urabrask, or to at least trust him completely. He may be opposed to Elesh Norn, but at the end of the day, he's still a phyrexian. Even if Norn is defeated, even Urabrask wants to see Phyrexia expand. And even if we believe that he only compleates the willing (I'm not 100% sure I do) the fact of how contagious the glistening oil is means that many will be infected and compleated unwillingly just by its continued existence, and another white aligned power demanding complete unity will eventually rise in Norn's place. The only solution is to burn them all out. Ignite the oil that animates them and see them all destroyed.

Instead of the card being "fling" because I believe that launches a creature, there should be a new card that has you sacrifice a planeswalker to deal damage equal to the number of loyalty counters on it.

I'm still hoping and waiting to see if they bring back characters like Nicol Bolas, Ugin, Sorin, and Emrakul. It would be very interesting to see them in the story of March of the Machines and how they would react and respond to the phyrexians invasion.
