My little boy and I watch your videos almost every night to wind down before bed, and we watched a lot last year when he was in the hospital with RSV. Prayers for your family Jay, and keep up the good work and just being you. You’re a role model to more than you know! 🫡
Hey Jay, I just met you at the Toronto Sportsman’s Show on the weekend. I’m a little behind in watching your videos otherwise I would have said something there. I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for 39 years. Still going, and it’s all because of God. Praying for your family and especially Hannon. God is good! He’s on your side, and will always be there through the tough days.
I have been type one for 19 of my 30 years of life in Ontario just like your boy. It is so much more manageable now than when I was a kid. The technology is great now from when I was a kid. I still fish all the time and hunt all the time. He will be fine with parents like you guys.
Hannan, you are in my prayers, little man🩵🙏🙏🙏🩵 If Hannan is like his Mom and Dad, he is a tough boy💪🩵 Hang in there, Jay and Sam, that had to have been scary! You are right, Jay... life is not always fishin & roses... it's filled with many speed bumps❤ the video of Hannan with that huge fish lol priceless. As always... amazing video!👍👍
Prayers to you and the family. Having a sick child is the worst feeling in the world. I’m glad everything worked out in the end. Beautiful puppy, goldens are the best family dogs we have a 7 year old that still acts like a puppy.
It's a fairly big learning curve. But, you'll be fine. My sister was diagnosed when she was 7 and it was a huge life change for my family. We learned to live a lifestyle that fit her. Once she was able to get an insulin pump it was life changing. Made things so easy for her. You guys got this!
Many prayers to you and your entire family 🙏🏼 💪🏼 ❤ Our tight budget does not allow for a camera above the phone/ go pro…. Thank you so much for the quick tips! Goldens are the best! ❤ 🌲 Thank you for your wonderful content Jay!
Perspective is everything in those situations. You and sam seem to have a great perspective on it all. Take it all in, learn everything you can. My daughter had 6 surgeries from day 1 to just under 1 year old. Two air flights and 6 months total in the hospital. Today is her 1 year anniversary from open heart, and she'll be 1 and a half in 2 days. It's a never ending battle. You guys are a wonderful family and it's very obvious that you'll handle it all really well. Hannen's a lucky dude.
I commented on your original post on IG, but I just wanna say again, having a good support system is huge with Type 1 diabetes. I’ve been a Type 1 diabetic since I was 9, and am now 27. I live a full life without any problems today. The technology has come so far, and sometimes it’s almost like I don’t even have it. You guys are great parents, and your sons in good hands.
thank you and Sam for sharing Hannan's diagnosis with us. Juvenile/Type 1 Diabetes is so much better understood and treated these days, very scary witnessing the symptoms but he should be fine.research
I’m a type 1 diabetic and one of my greatest fears in life is my kids will eventually be diagnosed with it too. It’s scary stuff. Thankfully we have so many amazing tools for managing diabetes now and they’re only getting better. I’m glad you guys caught it when you did. Sometimes it goes on for months before people catch it. Hang in there and take care.
My heart bleeds for you and Sam I lost the love of my life 2 1/2 years ago to keto acidous. You are so lucky they got Hammy back to normal. Love the above picture of your family
My daughter got diagnosed with T1D two years ago. She was a month away from turning 17. After a yearly check up her doc told me to drive her to the hospital, they know your coming. Don’t stop until you get there. It was intense. After about 1 hour in her room they sent us to the PICU. Where we spent the next two days on an insulin drip and learning the new challenges she/we would face. It’s super scary, but it does get better. I do still have dexcom on my phone so I’m alerted when she gets too low or too high. Again, stay positive, people have been living a normal life with T1D for a long time. Just an adjustment.
Jay you're an inspiring and such a positive person. Keep the faith brother. I sorry to hear about the scary situation. But so glad you everyone is doing well now. You make some incredible content! I know everyone here would say the same thing!
Lots of prayers for you, Sam, and your family. Tough go for sure. Lots of success out there with Junior Diabetes; we contribute every year in support of friend’s whose kids live full lives with it. Hannan will prosper with your support!!
What a difficult road to walk as a parent. My heart goes out to you guys! When I was in high school I had a teacher with diabetes who had a golden retriever as a diabetic assistance dog, she could open doors, turn on lights, open the fridge and so much more. Might be a neat resource for your family as you start training your new pup!
Stay strong brothur... one of my best friends and my little brother have been type 1 diabetic since they were babies as well... I know how hectic that can be my friend... much love Sam and jay!!!
My wife and i went through the same thing with our youngest daughter at what looks to be the same age. Our daughter had just turned 2 when it happened. The learning curve for diabetes its a trip for sure. I'll pray for you all especially your son.
Hey Jay, my sister was diagnosed with type 1 in elementary school, and growing up with it makes it a lot easier. Pumps and other technology developed recently have made it much easier to deal with. You will all grow with it and best of luck going forward!! You got this
So much love for you guys! Im sorry that you guys had that scare, what a beautiful little dude! Him pulling that line up is amazing. Best wishes to your family. Take care and enjoy every moment together!
thinking of your family here in Wisconsin. Its scary when a child is sick. But the blessing is knowing what it is and now manageable. hard work, but as he grows he will know the signs and adjust accordingly.
Our family went through the exact same thing with out then 3 year old. Love that clip of you getting high fives! That moment is still burned in my mind more than 3 years later. Such an amazing feeling to see that kid you would give anything for act like themselves again. The technology that's out there to help manage T1D is amazing and makes life so much easier. It's a long shot but happy to talk through some of the highs and lows you'll experience navigating this "new normal".
Much respect to you for showing that life is not always rainbows and sunshine. Sorry to hear about your son and thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know first hand how hard it is to see your son go through medical problems as my son lost his fight to cancer at the age of 8 and its such a helpless feeling as a father to see what they are going through and not be able to fix it. Anyways stay strong and positive and just enjoy everyday!! Happy fishing!
That's definitely a tough one to go through! My sister and brother in law just had 3 out of their 5 kids diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in the last 2 years with 2 of them having to be flown out. God is amazing and gracious and he'll be there with you guys through it all which I'm sure you've already been a witness too yourself!
Prayers to your family. This is life changing but is something that is workable. It takes time for everyone to make adjustments, and all will be good. I'm type 2 15 yrs. My grand daughter is type1 6yrs, she is doing great and has learned what she can and can not eat and how much. You will get through this. God bless
Wow, your boy is more of a man than I'll ever be with the needles! All kidding aside (even though I wasn't kidding about that), I can't even imagine the terrifying experience that must have been for you and Sam as parents. Being unable to help and being completely reliant on others for the well being of your child is something that people (like me) who haven't had to endure that simply can't get our heads around. I applaud your acknowledgment of your faith and what role that played in all of this. I encourage you to stay strong in your faith. I am a Christian and have been utterly bombarded with significant life issues over the past 2 years, and it's taken a toll on my faith. Haven't given up on it, but it can really shake it significantly when it's an incessant barrage. So keep focused on each other and God, and I'll pray that you remain a cord of 3 strands my brother! Thank you for sharing this part of your life. The "realness" of it is something we should all reflect on and appreciate.
Thank you for the update video. Super happy your boy is doing better. Congratulations on his first pike. Im still looking to break the 30" mark myself. Sam finally got her puppy! Awesome! Keep up the good work. Someday I'll make it north of the border to see Canada.
I hope you and your family have a fruitful life. You bring so many people joy. Love the golden retriever I have a golden named Tippet he's such a good boy.
The outpost looks awesome Jay, great tips on the videoing, congrats on the pup , Nothing worse than having your child in the hospital happy to hear Hanan is feeling better god bless
Nothing worse than when one of your children is sick. Especially when they are too young to understand what’s going on. You and Sam are doing a great job and have an amazing support team! Mrs. W and I send hugs and warm thoughts. PS say hi to your folks. Haven’t seen them since TnT’s!
Terrifying as a parent. So glad you guys got him checked out. I know our kids are coming down with stuff all the time so I probably wouldn’t have thought much of it either at first. What a strong little dude!
Thank you for sharing your boy will go on too amazing things your going to have the best fishing buddy ever life is good God is good sending prayers for you and your family stay strong little man
Great video Jay. It's nice when we're all up-to-date on every thing. Sorry to hear about hanons er visit. It's so hard when it's your kid. My son got Lyme's dieses when he was 2. It really sucked since u will always have it. It's not like u can grow out of Lyme's. We had to go to a specialist for almost a year till he got to the point where he felt like he had all his strength back. So I know how u feal. Also so happy u got sam a puppy. U will make so many memories with the pup and the kiddo.
I can add that I spent a month in a hospital because of a missed diagnosis at 3. That was over 40 years ago and the medical is pretty amazing these days. No complications. It'll be just normal life again for everyone before you know it.
You guys are killing it Jay, so glad everyone is safe and healthy. My wife literally yelled out that he forgot to tell us about the dang dog and then you proceeded to go hey look I got a dog! Hope his eyes are doing ok!
The “pricking” days will become a distant memory, but man it hurts your heart when it’s happening. It’s hard to not be mad in the moment, but it’s great to be on the other side of it. Glad to hear the young man is doing well!
