You are absolutely hilarious! I really like your channel! It is so fun. I was cracking up when you said, "Why am I watching her channel? She doesn't know what she's doing. " Your content is so relatable! Very encouraging! Thank you!
I really resonate with this! I have a girl with a shorter attention span, especially for repetitive things. I love your channel! It helps to hear what you are going through. We homeschool moms learn from each other! And your positive attitude and enthusiasm is contagious! Thank you!
Thank you for the encouragement ❤️ I’m so glad you found CLE to work for you! It is hard with the lessons being so long, but I would try crossing out some problems! Maybe it would be a help…and it is ok! (If I can do it you can do it!) 😉
We only did the history from HOD as well. The history is done in such an interesting literature based way. My son loved it. We did this exact guide. I will use this particular guide with my second son too. And we are also now using Grandpa’s Box from Preparing Hearts For His glory for my oldest too.
I was at first thinking, oh no, we've lost another one to van life! 😂. We switched from TGTB to Master Books for my 6 year old because it was simpler and quicker so better able to hold her attention.
lol 😂 that made me laugh so hard! We can’t find a van big enough to live in, so we’ll stick with the house! 😂 I’ve thought about Masterbooks for my son…that might be a smart switch!
@@ourthriftyhomeschool They sell Master Books at Mardel and have samples and placement tests on their website. It's super affordable too. I wish Generations had more math levels out because I really like their Math 1 but we're past that now.
I also mark out every other problem in CLE math for my boys. I used to get twitchy about it thinking they were missing stuff, but they do a great job of reviewing skills. I quit stressing about it. 😉 You are doing a great job!❤
We love CLE Math but it is a lot. We also use a 25 minute timer (5th-8th grade). If you need cool point as a mom let your child pick the problems. I mark off number 3 but it may have a-d and I let them choice two problems out that. It makes my boys feel so empowered.
My son in 9th grade also uses Denison Algebra. First year using it and he’s been doing pretty good. We had to slow it down just a bit, but it was more my fault than his. We started a chapter before break and came back to it after. Of course, he didn’t retain it all, so we just went over the chapter again for a more thorough understanding. That’s great that your daughter is loving it! It really is a great program. I also just wanted to say what a good thing you are doing on your channel. Because of you, I look for the best deals before settling on anything full price. Thank you for your content. You are a true blessing!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying Denison too! I’m so happy we found it! Math can be so hard, it’s nice to find a tool that helps especially with the upper levels. Thank you so much for the encouragement! ❤️ I love that you feel encouraged to find the best deals!!! That’s awesome 🥳
It’s so good to hear back from you and to see the changes you’ve made. So excited for you guys and SOOOO HAPPY MATH IS MUCH BETTER FOR YOUR OLDEST! Congrats momma!
It’s 180 😊 360 is a full circle so you would end up right where you started. I’m going to look into Denison algebra when the time comes. My oldest is 12. We have used teaching textbooks but always been on the fence about it. Thank you and welcome back! 😊
We made the switch to Denison Algebra for our middle son. 2 weeks into school after 7 or 8 years of Math U See😮 He LOVES it and we will be switching to it for our youngest next year. I wish we’d have had it for our oldest when he was as still in school.
Loved the introduction. I was like awesome she is reflecting on life in the wilderness lol. We use CTC math too but only as a practice or reinforcement. I am not a math person and I am honest about it. When you said "my boy" I had to listen more intentionally. My boy is the one I question myself about; everything has to be different. Nothing has worked for him super smart but short attention span. We also do the boring stuff at home ( science, Art and unit studies at co-op). I decided to add Master books Elementary Geography and Cultures. I have thought about Five in a Row too. I am not sure I want to let go of CLE Reading.
I’m on the fence about changing our math. I agree with you about CLE math. My son takes so long to complete the lessons but I don’t want to give it up because he is learning so much from it because of the repetition. We do 1 lesson over 2 days now but it still takes too long.
We use Christian light education too for math and language arts.... we also cut the reading program! Im thinking i will find a literature guide on a book he chooses to read... but I haven't gotten that far so far 😂.
Good! CLE is such a good solid curriculum! There are a lot of good literature guides out there to choose from…we used some in our coop this year and u love the structure!
It’s funny that you mention the difference between homeschooling your girls from your son. I’m a boy mom and watch in amazement all the RU-vid videos out there of homeschooling girls. It IS totally different with boys! 😅
I'd love to hear more about Denison, and whether or not it's worth the investment. We're currently doing Teaching Textbooks...which is way more affordable...but has its downsides this year...
Oh man…we’re only a little over a half year in…but my daughter says we need to stick with this from now on! I’ll update as we go on with it, but she averages 90-100% on her math now!!! 🥳
Ok I have all boys and have seen some reviews of Christian Light and love the looks of it but I just knew it would never work for my boys😉 I do have some of their reads though! Even with MUS I mark off ones they don’t have to do😁. Love that you can do a little of HOD even if it just reading the history ❤ “Always Learning “😁
Yes! It’s definitely different with boys! I’m sure it’s good and rewarding, but for sure different! ❤️ I really was excited to bring some of the HOD back in! 🥳
We have used both teaching Textbooks and Denison. Denison is great because of the positivity, humor, and really good explanations. My favorite is the fact that there are lesson videos AND an actual physical work-text (they do not type things into the computer) which prepares them for higher math. Denison really builds confidence and teaches study skills too. My kid who loves math/ is good at it loves Denison math AND my kid who hated math/struggled for years loves it too. We will never switch back. 😊
I loved everything about this video and the intro was too funny! I was thinking "where in the world is she?" haha! Have you ever talked about Heart of Dakota on here before?? That looked interesting. I need to learn more about that as my little boys LOVE books. It kinda reminded me of a combo of Five in a Row and maybe Sonlight. Would that be correct? I love the idea of doing history and science with my boys by reading portions of real literature with them. They would love that and eat that up, especially my oldest son. WELCOME BACK! You were missed!!!
She has spoken about Dakota before. You should look into her older videos bc she used it a lot when her girls were much younger. JUST A HEADS UP! Hope you find something helpful!
lol 😂 I’m glad you liked the intro! Yes…HOD would be kinda like a combo of FIAR and Sonlight! It sounds like it would be perfect for your family! I have done a few videos on it…it was early on in my RU-vid videos so don’t judge my awkwardness and editing skills lol 😂 but it’s a good overview of how it works!
My daughter loves Love Denison Algebra 1. So do we. Going to have other daughter do Algebra 1 in 9th in the fall. We will continue with Geometry and Algebra 2 with Denison also.
I kinda felt that way with my oldest when she was in 7th grade! It is such a hard transition to middle school. But…just trust your choices and do the best with what you have and pray about it. You can always change direction next year!
Hi! I’m not on Goodreads….my daughter keeps telling me to get on it lol 😂 I haven’t read much over the break. My life has been basketball practice, basketball games, and driving back and forth. Fun but bonkers. I’m finishing a super good book this week hopefully and will have a video about it next week (fingers crossed!)
