Its not called child saint, its called Infant Jesus statue. It depicts the infant stage of jesus Christ ( aka the Holy Child) but mostly called as Infant Jesus around the World.
@microbios8586 considering that both Philipines and Hispanic America inherited Spain's catholicism, it makes sense we share the image of baby/infant Jesus
Someone asked me about it yesterday, (context: I mentioned in a prior comment months ago that the oldest Chinatown was in the Philippines, someone asked me how old it is and I didn't know so I googled it) according to wikipedia Binondo was established by the Spaniards for the Chinese immigrants that agreed to convert to Catholicism. Those that refused were either kicked out or killed... So there's that.
@@HudaefCares No, most weren’t kicked out or killed. They moved elsewhere in the country to do business. Outside Binondo was the slums where the non converts live. The Christian-converted Chinese were the ones who often interacted with the Chinese in the country who didn’t convert. The Spanish found the Chinese in general a threat but quite useful for business so they decided to create a middle man for them by making use of the Chinese Christian converts. This plan was so successful that it was mostly the Chinese mestizo (Christian-converted Chinese mixed with Spanish or Filipino native) who ran most of the businesses in the country with the Spaniards supervising over them.
@@BlackTourmaline25cash is still the most widely used payment especially in the remote provinces you cannot use gcash coz their internet connection is almost non-existent.
💡It should be everywhere! Only idiot's are falling for this stupid cashless society, thus giving gull control to the company's/government that holds your money!😖👍
Or they have the registration number in the plate. And that is why some Filipino drivers say, "Republika ng Walang Plaka" (Republic of No License Plates).
FYI that Ancient Church inside Manila Chinatown is actually the Binondo Church. This is where the First Filipino Catholic Saint, St. Lorenzo Ruiz served and worked in this Church as a Church Clerk but he was accused of murdering someone but he didn't do anything in short he's innocent so he decided to set sail to Japan along with Dominican missionaries and he and his companions ended up arrested (not because of his alleged crime) and killed in Nagasaki because he refused to denounce the Catholic Faith because he offered his life for the Lord
Each country has their own culture. Foreigners should respect the culture of the country they are visiting. If you want to be respected, you should also show respect 🙂
well if you have tried being in a cat 5 super storm that leaves your place without electricity for more than 1 month, cashless transactions isn't dependable. The country gets hit with at least 1 of those every year and multiple cat 4s and 3s.
We've had two cat 5s so far this year and another possible cat 5 brewing right now (10-4-2023) -- maximum sustained winds of more than 160 kilometers per hour (10-4-2023)
The Baby Saint statue can even be found in KTV bars where they feature erotic "floor shows" where the "solo performer" have members of the male audience soap her naked on stage while she inserts beer bottles inside her vagina. 😆 It's ridiculous; Filipinos still think they're "good people" even though they participate in such things which normal Westerners would consider as immorality. 😂 The statue of Santo Niño was iside this establishment so Santo Niño was also watching the floor show.
@@tells2003My parents are from Mexico too but the only Niño Jesus statue is in my room (since I got it as a present) but not anywhere else in the house, but we do have a big frame of the Virgin Mary and obviously another frame of The Last Supper in the kitchen
Thank God there is still somewhere in the world accepting cash!! Mind you the internet and the electrical grid are not stable enough to support reliable credit card usage.
@@juch3es, digital payment is getting more popular (mostly GCash), but cash is still king because not everyone has good internet. Even loading the digital payment system has cash options. That’s why we still have cash on delivery.
@@juch3 WiFi is still pretty expensive for the quality and speed it gives but thankfully there are more internet providers (Not JUST Smart and Globe) than before which made it a bit more accessible now. Once WiFi becomes cheap like in other countries that pace of digital payment will go even faster.
@@Lizkrrrrcash is better because you can pay the ladies at stores in the middle of nowhere so you can buy drinks, pay fares and generally all other stuffs
Hey there! Not really a need to suggest this, but you should see how Filipino Public transport vehicles (PUVs) are literally beyond full or jam-packed in the other slightly remote regions 😂 enjoy a lot too!! 🎉
Just watch some of your longer videos, they're really awesome. In my opinion you could/should advertise your long videos more often, you'd be doing everyone a favor, whether they know it or not.
The hand drawn plate aren't technically license plates but rather a dealer's registration number. The plates are usually delayed since there are a whole lot of motorcycles being purchased on a daily basis.
A little correction. 1. Hand written license plates - they are not the norm. Those riders are waiting for newer plates (because our regulatory board sucks ass at handling out those). 2. Child Saint - this is the depiction of infant Jesus. Or as we call it. Sto Niño 3. Homemade soccerball roullette - i actually forgot what they call that, but its basically just betting on which number and color the ball will fall. We have this thing called perya (the equivalent of carnivals or theme parks but they are small business and you can often see em here) 4. 711 has not implemented tap to pay unfortunately. Some in the city have those but not in most rural areas.
When your area doesn't even get cell reception, (like mine) they're good. If you're in a more urban area I think it's better to use your own mobile data lol. But if you just want a quick (not necessarily fast) and cheap internet connection the pisowifi is for you. It costs as low as one piso (uhh... 2 cents for Americans?) per 10 minutes I think.
@@ryanjuguilon213Why? In a country where a large part of its people is unbanked cash is a necessity. Also crypto scams have made me wary of digital assets. Some African countries are pushing for a centralized cryptocurrency and limiting cash. It has caused widespread economy difficultly to their people.

The baby Jesus statue was orginally from a statue that represents king Phillip..the king where Philippines was named after..the statue was offered to the natives.
Just because the statue is dressed as royalty doesn't mean He is based on a royal living at that time. It was made by Flemish artisans based on the visions of St. Teresa of Avíla.
The Philippines is still cash-heavy because most people are still paid cash daily so there's no capacity to build either credit lines or a cashless reserve
cash is cash kahit wla net pwdi mo pang bayad yun iba kasi hindi pa na try na wla u hawak na cash na nag loko ang g cash at need mong bayaran kinain mo
Cash is king because technology is 10 years behind. There’s always some maintenance going on. Even at some major retailers like SM, sometimes their credit card terminal is ‘offline’ or lags like hell. And worse you might be charged twice. It is getting better now but we’re still operating with physical money like we did in 2005.
PLACENTA SOAP TO PERFECT YOUR SKIN AND TO SMOOTH ! WHITENING , REAL TALK HERE IN PHILIPPINES WE DONT LIKE A BLACK SKIN BECAUSE BLACK SKIN IS UGLY ! THATS WHY WE HAVE A WHITENING SOAP BRUH !! THATS A REAL TALK ✌️👍👍👍
Cash is king, but e-currency is now gaining traction; malls, convenience stores and some sari-sari stores now accept e-currencies (gcash & maya) which can be linked to your visa/mastercard as payment.
New subbie here from Cali. Love 💕 your videos!Seriously making me rethink about retiring there although still quite a ways for me, but it doesn’t hurt to start dreaming and planning.
I lived there too with my Navy husband and 2 kids. It was wonderful. It's a wonderful country. The people are so friendly. Its an experience for a military wife, life style is so different bur amazing.I miss the culture and the people, but not the Typoons!
Handwritten and paper-printed license plates are REALLY a thing in the Philippines, especially when you lose the original license plate, or while waiting patiently for the official license plates of your car or motorcycle. There are print shops all over Philippines that make the temporary or backup license plates for you.
