Although France is one of the most beautiful, gorgeous, and quaint places on Earth with delicious wine and food, nothing beats the comfort and convenience of the Unites States. The American bureaucracy is much more efficient. As for products and services, you can get anything you want at almost any time in America. You can use a credit card to pay for things; rather than always having to carry cash. There is far less smoking. The French system and way of doing things is antiquated by comparison. The French should learn to speak some English as Americans must learn some French to get around in France. The French are passionate and serious people who are sometimes argumentative with loud disagreements; then everything is quickly forgotten; and they move on without hurt feelings or grudges; that is great. Anyway, thank you very much for your honesty about life in Paris. I plan to visit not live in Paris. Paris is incredibly beautiful and charming. Many people leave a small part of their hearts in Paris. However, Americans are used to more space, privacy, convenience, and systemic efficiency and reliability. Paris is antiquated in many ways and people find that charming or not.
Just a heads up that your math is wrong in regards to the density of the population in Paris. 1 km2 = 1 km x 1 km = 1000m x 1000m = 1 000 000 m2 And so 20 000 people / 1 000 000 m2 = 0.02 people / m2. This comes out to 1 person / 50m2. Definitely still very crowded, but not the horror of having 52 people sharing 1 m2 :P
Yes, but that's not only that. To fairly compare Paris and London, you have to take Paris and its suburb, which is not the case here. The density would be completely different
This is the same in every city for a normal working person, your normally too busy working to do anything else. What software language do you write in?
But cherie Paris is not France it never was and never will. I worked there for 9 years but live better in Versailles ! Now even better in Brittany. Cheers
Yeah, as I told in the video, it’s difficult to compare the price of the rent with other countries because there is a difference of salaries/taxes/life facilities/medical care etc (which is a huge topic for probably another video 😁). So that’s why I focused on comparing with other French cities and what you can get for the same price you pay for Paris.
County Cork has challenges in finding an affordable place but it can be found. Also remember, we also pay more for a lot of goods due to import 95% of our goods. Ireland is on the Top Ten list of most expensive countries to live in as well. Still this is where I am from and here I stay.
@@becoming.french Despite being in an expensive city with normal international city issues, you are better off for now Anna. Everytime we have gone to cherbourg for a daily excursion French countryside has a charm all it's own I believe. I still love French culture in smaller doses! 😁
Which months have few tourists in Paris? what month did you say you went to Shakespeare & co and there was no crowd?? maybe the crowd thing is not year round
Hummmm so far it doesn't sound like Paris rather you have no control over your life and work balance. Also is your home in order or are things everywhere (that's were it starts)clutter? What was/ is your Real "why" for living in Paris? Enjoy... .
Thanks for this. A very honest and helpful video. We live in Nice, but we know Paris well, and we're thinking about Paris long term in a year or so. A recent visit, earlier this month, showed us how busy it has become, but living outside the city won't work for us, as we are urban dwellers (New York and several other large cities in our past). Several more visits to find relatively quiet places away from tourist sites is our plan. Hope you find the perfect balance for you.
Yeah, the center of Paris has become extremely crowded. Consider more residential districts of Paris like 15th or 16th. You still have city vibes, but less people :)
