Thanks for another awesome canning video. Something about seeing all those jars of home canned food is like a comforting hug. We were raised very poor monetary wise, but I remember going in the utility room as a small boy with the walls covered in shelves of freshly canned meats and fruits and vegetables and thinking how rich we were.
Hi Linda, I was watching an old video you did on dehydrating veggies and making meals in a Mylar bag. I noticed that Ted Nugent commented on your video. I thought it was fun that he is watching you, learning and preparing. I thought I'd tell you in case you missed it. You always have great videos. Thanks.
You can take your book that is coming apart to Staples or Office Max or Office Depot and have it spiral bound. I have them laminate the front and back cover too so that it is a little thicker. I have done this with several of my paperback type cookbooks.
I typically just use RU-vid videos for canning recipes, but when I saw your Amish canning book, I remembered my mom bought me a few books my first year I started to can. Low and behold, I have the Amish book!!! The books seemed pretty intimidating back then (3 years ago), but maybe I should dig into them now! Thanks for the reminder!!!
I’m addicted to canning and have gotten most of my inspiration from you and Heather, Kneady Homesteader. Did ground beef this summer (Zaycon of course) and this morning I did Apple Pear Butter! My pantry overflows and it makes me so happy!
Linda, I have canned 150 pounds of russet potatoes. I raw packed them with a little salt. They turned out perfect. The texture was perfect and the taste is great. I got the idea of canning potatoes from you.
Love this ladies! What fun. Linda, you started me canning at the ripe old age of 65. That was 6 years ago.. I really enjoy it. Thanks so much for your inspiration. Bless you.
Thank you Linda! You do inspire me ... I did my first ever canning session this past Saturday, chicken thighs and on Sunday I did chicken stock and then chili beans. Everything turned out really well, so it's onward & upward from here. Thank you again for all your videos, suggestions and ideas.
I love all the things you do. I too can a lot of meats, but I am hoping you will share more videos on ways to use the meats. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for everything.
THIS is the Linda I subscribed to so very long ago. You gave me the canning bug six or seven years ago ~ your canning opinions are very important to me. Thank you so much for sharing!! Now that the weather has turned rainy and crummy, I'm gonna plant my garlic and dig up my carrots. Wearing my wool sweater so I won't mind the wet as much. Wish me luck!
i canned for the first time all by my self yesterday i made apple sauce and canned it with no help i felt so proud they all sealed. i have caned in the past but always with my mom. thanks so much for inspering me to realize i could do it.
Definitely Applebutter it's the bomb. Cranberry and the chili sauce are amazing. Yes got to do the bacon and the beef. Soups yes the spinach and kale delicious. Bean's , chili are a staple in my pantry. Looking forward to your canning videos. Thank you for sharing the goodness. :)
I just wanted to say I made some French Onion Soup this past weekend for the first time and I loved it. I didn't have any bread in the house so I took some Garlic Parmisian croutons and put over it with some Colby jack cheese and I about died on how good it was. I don't even know what the book recipe calls for but its quick and simple. So I made 4 more quarts just to have in my pantry.
Pork loin is the only pork I've been canning because I was getting thick boneless loin chops at a ridiculous price. I raw packed it and it came out beautiful. Tender, moist. I wonder if Canadian raised pork turns out differently when canned.
Hello Linda- Looove your channel !! Over the years you have been instrumental in giving me the courage to try new things. Thank you so much for all you do to inspire so many of us. Looking forward to the roast, potato and carrot meal :) Blessings to you and your family. Thanks again.
Hi what a great video I'm absolutely loving that your all working together and all canning all you women are absolutely amazing so inspiring . Thank you for wonderful videos :)
I made pork stew from the Amish cook book. I added green chili later to it. Also when I canned it I added a half of teaspoon of beef bullion and a half tsp. of tomato bullion. Very good
I am so glad that you have done these 2 videos detailing out all the things you can and giving a description about each one. I have been a subscriber for years but have been on the fence about canning. Now I can't wait to get started. Thank for for providing the confidence.
So glad that you started this collab Linda because it's great seeing everything that everyone has canned and what they liked and what they didn't. Thanks!!
Love all these collaboration videos, and I like that you talk about how you use some of the stuff, a lot of people just show how they can it but you never see how they use it- 💖
I canned pork and beans also and was not satisfied because there was not enough sauce. Would you please do a video on the revised recipe or list the recipe of how you did the revised version? I agree with you on canned potatoes. I canned potatoes and did not like the taste, a waste of time. I bought a dehydrator about a month ago so I am going to dry some instead. I did dry some frozen hash browns. Love your videos. Keep them coming.
Hi Linda I love watching your videos and although here in England people have lost the art of home canning I have been canning for the last three years. I don't own a big canner like you have in America and to buy one is so expensive also the postage from the USA is nearly as much as the canner 🙁 but my pressure cooker does just fine I have eaten some things from 2015 and I'm still here but I'm super careful with cleanliness. I have learned a lot from all you canning ladies over there we don't seem to have offers like you and I have to be choosy about what I can because of cost. You look really good I know you where on the Weight Watchers diet you look like you have lost a good amount of weight how much have you lost so far whatever it is you look slim.
Linda, don’t know if you’ll get this but, Mandy at Moore to life, takes her books like that and has them spiral bound like your Amish canning book. Just a thought.
Lots of love in those jars. I love canning meat. So good and so convenient. Great video, Linda. Looking forward to all future videos. Thanks for sharing with us, and all that all of you's out into your videos. Hugs
I had the same reaction to the beef stroganoff recipe in the new Ball book. I don't think I've ever seen a stroganoff with tomato paste. I want to try a pork butt now that I've watched you and Mandy talk about them. Thank you!
I have a receipt from my son in law that has ketchup in it. He uses cream cheese in stead of sour cream, onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup and ketchup. the cream cheese was a mistake but oh it turned out so good. Stew meat was the meat used. Sometimes mistakes turn out good
The roast pork in spicy broth is fantastic. I first used the pork bones in the instant pot to make bone broth. Also I've canned the black bean soup about four times. I love it. I wasn't as much of a fan of the French onion soup from this book. My son like it though so I gave it all to him. :)
I made the french onion soup from the all new ball book. It's amazing! The thyme & the wine smell amazing! I mixed 2 different types of onions & was tempted to throw in some mushrooms, but I held off. EXCELLENT! *****
I needed to replace my ball canning book it died. I went to 3 local stores and for some reason no one has one. It may just be my area but i thought I would share.
Enjoyed your part 2 thank you ! Have a question about your pork and beans . I make baked beans with onions and bell peppers brown sugar etc. my question is could I add Onions and Bell Pepoers to the Pork and Bean recipe ? I am a canning newbie !
Thank you for the continuation video. It is great to know what DOESN'T work. If you are taking voted for the next vid I vote for the pot roast one. Cooler weather is on its way this very weekend (I think Friday for us both) so Saturday would be a great POT ROAST day. ;-)
I have all those books and was following along with you as you went through everything...lol I would love to see you make all of the recipes you talked about. I will definitely be making some of them myself, right now I am working on 120 lbs. of Zaycon chicken...lol Thanks for all your videos Linda they are much appreciated!!!
I love this series! I find it so interesting to see what everyone likes or what was a fail! I have all of those same books. I just made the oven roasted tomato soup (as a matter of fact it is still in my pressure cooker as I'm watching this video!) I taste tested it as well as my husband and we love it. My husband wanted to eat some of it before I could put it in the jars. It is from the All New Ball Canning and Preserving cookbook, I saw Tina from the Welhams Kitchen can it and just had to try it, so glad I did! I plan on making the farmers soup after I get a few other canning projects done. I'm going to try the potatoes and carrots with the onion soup mix as well as plain potatoes this weekend, my husband loves the canned potatoes. Then I'm going to can pineapple and hopefully some pears while they are on sale! Then I will be doing the soups and chili beans I need to get done! Thanks so much for doing these videos! I'm excited to see the onion soup video! That may go on my list as well!
Linda, apple butter is the bomb. Oops maybe I shouldn’t have said that nowadays people flip out. But anyways, love your videos I just started canning about a couple of months ago, really really loving it. I need to hop back on here and finish watching your video. Like I said I love your videos and I’ve learned a lot thanks. Have a great weekend Linda!
I did the beef stroganoff by the recipe and it isn't too bad. Next time, I will leave out the tomato paste. I thought it was a weird ingredient, but when I researched, about half the stroganoff recipes I found included it. It adds too much of a tart flavor for me.
Oh my, this is great!! I just started a channel & people have asked me on my channel, as well as my personal Facebook page, to do canning videos. And I've been asked to teach classes. My video skills leave a lot to be desired, but may I be on the playlist? Or is it just for large established cha?
FYI- I've noticed a lot of canners (not in the collaboration), have also started to post videos of what they will and will not can again, and have given a shout out to Linda starting the idea!
Hi, Linda. These review videos are always enjoyable! A favor, if possible: is there any way you could adjust your volume setting? The last couple/few videos the volume is low and cranking it up on this end doesn't help much. Thanks! (:
Love this, May I be a part of this Collaboration as well? I have viewers asking me to Can certain things so I have a few things coming and a few new recipes I would like to try💗
Hi Linda I was wondering if you have a video on your mushroom soup base. I saw the one for your French onion mushroom soup but not that wonderfully chunky fine diced mushroom soup base one
Do you ever can soups as raw ingredients? Like a few pieces of par-cooked beef, a few potatoes, a few carrot slices, etc.... with broth and then pressure canned? Also, I've had issues with beef in the past. The meat ends up mealy, for lack of a better word. It doesn't stand up to any sort of stirring once out of the can (like if I want to add it to a soup, it just falls to teeny, tiny pieces). Is there a way to can beef chunks and still be left with something that stays chunky?
Wow..that zuppa stuff looks kinda scary. I think if I did make it I would label it "Pond Water" lol Linda, how much stuff that you have canned ends up getting tossed? It just seems I have certain jars that never get used in my pantry. I had good intentions when I canned them, but they just never get used. I just wondered if you do the same. Good Day!
i'm behind too. i'm working on 60 lbs of apples and 50 lbs of pears i'll be canning pie filling, dried apples, sauce ect. ..they got moved into the house from the cold front porch. because husband brought in an apple to show me, it had the cutest little teeth marks in it. some mouse had a lovely organic dinner. i put the apple back out so he could keep eating it. i'm such a sap for animals.
I’m so excited to see what you have canned! I also have a video showing the things I’ve canned. I’d love to be part of your playlist. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-waDdhxuZll8.html
