"I don't like labels because I don't fit into any of them " honestly that's exactly how I feel

Love you talking in a more open way about inclusivity. I feel a lot of connection to the trans guy community and it's really helped me find myself. I don't see myself as just a girl who likes masculine fashion or sth. It's way deeper than that. But I also have no desire to transition. I just see myself as inherently masculine in every way and I have always found it odd that others don't from the moment I could think. I didn't understand how I couldn't just be a boy if I said so. I always thought my boobs were sort of funny and I just don't see them as feminine because they're on me. That's not the same as just liking men's jumpers or sth or being sporty. I'm not sporty at all. But it's also not the same as needing top surgery. And I've felt a lot that I need to be either a cute tomboyish girl or a real trans guy or I'm just a snowflake. In the end I had to cut myself a break and stop giving a shit what I am. And that is so much better for my mental health.

I got referred to the Dutch gender thing a year ago by an intern still in school and I was the first trans person she met and she had no Idea what to do nö one taught her how to handle a situation like that but she was great she was so nice to me that was so helpful bc my parents almost disowned me so it was really nice to have a doctor or anyone for that matter be nice to me about that yk

I’m new here, and want to tell you that you are on point. ON POINT. I’m 44 and went through most of this in the late nineties/early century, in America. You seem like you are probably kind to docs and nurses, although it’s all really frustrating and painful to have to explain to people who are there to care for YOU. But explain we must. And I’ll add that the ones I dealt with were sad they didn’t know, and apologetic. And sometimes angry about their lack of education, lol.

I'm currently on my 4th year of medical school in France and we haven't learned anything worthwhile about trans issues, even if psychiatry was last year's program. The one hour we had on it was basically outdated definitions and the professor's own opinion on this "social phenomenon". 2 groups had a project about a movie featuring a trans woman and they misgendered her their entire presentations. Honestly, when it comes to trans issues, I've probably done more drunk debating with other students than university did. It's such a shame because the transphobia and ignorance are deafening.

@@MxMorphling I think the only thing I've really been looking for recently is a good way to get a therapist that understands gender stuff. I had a huge crisis about my gender over lockdown and ended up with a therapist who I finally stopped talking to because she basically said I was too beautiful to pass as male (which just makes it sound like one's choices are to be either feminine or ugly and I sure don't want either of those things, and also I think is just a narrative that is really horrible for men, that masculinity is just ugly... Tbh you could do a video on that that's a good idea. So many people imply being masculine is ugly and I think its awful for all masculine people) and literally didn't believe that I have problems using public toilets.

Awesome educational video❤️ minute 13:24 was hilarious! This video is the truth though! So many topics to talk about and they all are very helpful. In a previous video I mentioned I was having top surgery on 12/17. They called me on 11/4 and asked if I could go in the next day! I totally said yes! So I am a week and a half post! I mention this because having it done is dope as shit but also i want to thank you especially for your top surgery vlog all about it! On another note: put on a fashion show! Let’s see you all dolled up talking physics! That would be so hot! I have to admit I have a few years on you but what you are doing for so many people is beyond words. Yay Laddish!❤️🙃😘😎😉

Thanks for your videos, I have watched many and really enjoy them. My NHS GP first said no to shared trans care, but the private gender care Psychiatrists wrote an extensive letter explaining everything and how this is according to the official NHS guidelines. Then my GP accepted and asks them for advice if she has any questions. She has been fine since then and I even wrote the practice a formal letter to keep her when they decided to swap GPs on me in some reorganisation. I didn’t want to introduce the whole thing to another GP. I had a private endocrinologist from the start. Sustanon every four weeks is the start dosage and then they usually increase the frequency gradually and with systematic blood tests for hormones and liver stats. I’m now on Sustanon every 18 days. I’m tall even for a man, I’m 6 foot, and that can affect dosage. He offered Nebido but I prefer Sustanon because I can inject it myself without being dependent on a nurse doing it and needing to come in to a clinic for it. You cannot self inject Nebido When the Sustanon is more frequent then the T level doesn’t drop below the minimum male level. Nebido works the same just over a much longer time so perhaps you won’t notice the changes in levels as much, however they still happen and you can expect to have the same difficulties at the lower ends that you have on Sustanon. I became emotional at the lower end on Sustanon until they increased the frequency. That is something my GP understands since they do deal with a lot of women’s emotional instability due to the monthly cycle or menopause. So please make sure they check your hormones on Nebido or you can expect the same ups and downs just over much longer period. They won’t necessarily tell you this unless you ask because they want to try how far they get on placebo effects first or as they would call it “unbiased”. Nebido is newer than Sustanon so we don’t fully know if it is better or worse. My Endocrinologist objects to that but I’m a scientist so that is water of a ducks back to me. Medicine of this type requires a very long time in market before it’s affects and side affects can be fully appreciated. Mainly due to how slowly subjective complaints are gathered and filtered up the chain and that many problems take a long time to materialise. However, initial indications are that there are less side effects. I don’t know whether that is due to better management since it has longer duration and needs to be administered in clinic rather than self administered at home, or whether it is a better product.

definitely, this needs to be said. the deed poll thing sounds so messed up. btw I'm definitely scared of going to the doctor and they don't know I'm trans. a few months before I was on t, I need to do a medical check-up before entering uni, and I can say that that was peak dysphoria. i was lumped in with the girls to do this lung x ray thing and it made me so uncomfortable because we have to get changed into a gown there and the fact that everyone was at the counter waiting for their name to be called. it was also a weird day because after getting checked for that, they need to check something else which is peeing on this litmus paper type thing and the nurse gave me just the paper and not the cup because i thankfully passed as a guy. anyways, be prepared to get uncomfortable in clinics or hospitals. scroogilydoo?

Here in the U.S. (in some states, it's a state by state thing) they will change your name with just your driver's license showing your new name but not your gender even though it is on the driver's license as well. You have to have a letter from a doctor for that. Makes no sense since you need a letter from a doctor to change it on the driver's license so why do you need it again for the birth certificate?

Doctors don’t know everything. Just because a doctor says they don’t know much about trans people and don’t think they’re the most qualified to treat you isn’t necessarily discrimination. It could mean that the doctor needs to get training and hasn’t yet and will be fine with treating you after they get the training. But demanding that a doctor treat you despite not feeling qualified is so dangerous. You’d be putting the doctor in a difficult spot of forcing them to give you care when they know they might make a mistake and might hurt you. Yeah, a routine physical doesn’t involve needing special training. But some not trans specific procedures probably do require specific knowledge about trans people that not every doctor has these days. Personally, I don’t want treatment from a person that doesn’t want to treat me. I live in a relatively conservative area and I’ve had doctors say they don’t have proper training but they’re also incredibly respectful and seem to go iut of their way to learn from me about trans people. It’s not always discrimination. Sometimes rural areas don’t really have the resources for training all doctors about trans people. I get my hormones from a specialist in a city about 30 minutes away and most of my medical care happens in that city as well and that’s fine because they have the specialized training that I often wind up needing anyway.
@MxMorphling
@MxMorphling 3 года назад
Yeah that's why I said they should have gone and researched the best way to treat a patient seeing as I'm paying them, I think you missed the point here, I was saying that doctors should be trained in trans issues but seeing as none of them are then what am I meant to do? Just not transition? So often the doctors get the training from me, luckily nurses often know what they're doing, mostly the doctors are untrained, even when they have a correspondence with an actual gender endocrinologist specialist that is doing my shared care they still ask me and still say they may not want to treat me which is complete bogus, so if they refuse to get trained, but also refuse to listen to simple instructions from me or a transition specialist then that's when you have to put your foot down. I can't go to my endo in London everytime I just want a blood test or injection. Luckily I've talked to my doctor's and given them some resources to research cause I'm not the only trans person in Leicester they may have to treat.

Well I would just say that a general practitioner should know general things overall. But that general would be a different word in place of basic. And in no way would I consider anything in regards to medical treatment of a trans person as either general or basic or even normal day to day of a doctor . Thus to assume a GP doctor should know exactly what and how to treat a trans person under the umbrella of GP is a bad assumption .
@MxMorphling
@MxMorphling 3 года назад
Yes but having a general knowledge of different kinds of patience should come with the training, that's why shared care is a thing and the doctors should listen and learn from the gender specialists so they can treat you better, hence why I said I answered all of their questions so they knew more about trans patience in the future and recommended that trans people keep tabs on what a doctor may need to know and the medical aspect. This is specifically when it comes to how to treat a trans person with dignity, luckily my doctor's haven't been too bad but there have been times when doctors have refused to acknowledge a gender of me or my trans friends and/or treat them altogether even when shared care has been offered with a specialist. Its their job to go and educate themselves on the patience they are being paid to treat.
@MxMorphling
@MxMorphling 3 года назад
In fact, I once had an extremely rare reccuring bacterial infection in my blood (way rarer than the percentage of trans people per population), and although it DEFINITELY wasn't a general thing to treat, they still gave me much less fuss about helping me get treated for that than doctors have done helping me get treated for my gender dysphoria, even when similar practices are done on cis people regarding the injections of hormones so they should really know how to do it without causing such a hassle for me.
@MxMorphling
@MxMorphling 3 года назад
However, a good example of a GP was one I had that literally went to a conference on transgender patience so they could be better equipped to help me through my transition as my doctor. I am not saying we must hold every doctor to this exact standard, but if they just knew the little but important things about how to treat a population that is larger than many percentages of ailments that are not gender dysphoria that they will happily treat and read up on.
@DOCDOCFLAMINGOS
@DOCDOCFLAMINGOS 3 года назад
@@MxMorphling I totally think that's great , but that also falls more on the lines of that GP catering enough to want to learn about something they really didn't know anything about or knew some but wanted to learn more. But if they don't care enough to take that step or talk and listen to specialist then you'll just have that disconnect. Also sadly alot has to do with that any GP and if they are or not religious and what religion .. I guess really it all falls more along the line of Yes it's fair and understandable that anyone could "expect" to be treated well by any GP. But that No they should not "assume" that they will get treated well by any and all GPs. In the end assuming something just leads to dissapointment. That was my thought I was trying to state ...
@MxMorphling
@MxMorphling 3 года назад
Yes I understand, but that what the point in the video, telling people not to assume doctors are gonna know or care enough to know about trans issues and you have to demand it off of people by pure will and persistence (otherwise it simply doesn't get done for you). Yet still expecting improvements in the profession in the future. Believe me, I am now proficient in the intricacies of trans life within the healthcare system 🤣.

Except they *should* give us the care we request. Trans people are barely different from cis people, from a medical point of view. There are so, so many medical conditions that can affect the care one needs much more. I wonder what people would say if some doctors went "sorry, I don't treat diabetic people" or "sorry, I don't treat people with depression".
