I like to add something that I feel many trainers in BDSP do not know about. A mechanic from Sword and Shield has been brought to the remakes: the ability for parent Pokemon to also learn egg moves. You need two of the same Pokemon [Shinx and Shinx for example], a parent Pokemon with the egg moves you want, and a parent Pokemon with empty move slots [visit the Move Deleter to make room]. After about a minute of running around, both parents will have the same egg moves. This method is for those that either caught/bred for a shiny, but want egg moves for it, or giving egg moves to Pokemon you've grown attached to while playing the main game.
They’ve really improved QoL over time for the competitive side of Pokémon. Though if you’re looking to get together a team for when HOME compatibility is added, Poké Pelago from Sun and Moon takes out virtually all the work.
Partnered with the grand underground it’s def possible to get egg moves a lot easier. I caught a budew with seed bomb, evolved to rosella, bred with my torterra, then raised the new turtwig to evolve to torterra, and used that one to go into the daycare with mine and taught my starter seed bomb!
Hey just wanted to let you in... On Route 210 There is a double team "Jen and Zac" They have a lvl 27 Pikachu and a lvl 27 Gyarados. Winning the battle gets you 26,000 PER MATCH. Its allways a double battle unlike pokemon mansion. Jen and Zach are located Just after the first set of stairs On the way to Celestic Town. They both have green hair to make them easier to spot. Enjoy!
Something important to note: the Masuda method requires a pokemon from a different LANGUAGE, not location. So, for example. I have a copy of pokemon BD, and I chose English as the language, and my brother or next door neighbor chose French, we can trade dittos and those dittos are useable for the Masuda method.
It’s interesting that on the surface the Pokémon games are pretty easy and straight forward for almost anyone to play. But if you dig deeper and dive into the stats of the Pokémon you find extra layers of depth.
Yeah, I feel like every game gets easier. I played through most of this game, just fighting with my starter. And even when I got bored of it and brought out the other pokemon who have been trained to levels 15+ that of the opponents just by sitting in their pokeballs, I kinda lost interest...
For the roaming legendaries, I recommend Murkrow for the main game and Umbreon for the post game. They both have mean look. The first roaming legendary can only use psychic movies, so Murkrow is invincible. The second has non-psychic moves, so you’ll need the bulk Umbreon provides.
There is a way to check EVs, press X while looking at the stats chart on your Pokemon, it will switch from blue to Yellow and show how you trained your EVs on that Mon
This is my first game so people might already know this but if you don’t want to choose the fire type starter you can get a Houndoom pretty early on in the Underground. It’s a Dark/ Fire type and once get Fire Fang or Flamethrower you can run through fights pretty easy.
It’s pretty much your only choice besides ponyta. I got lucky and got a Magby in the underground that also had the flame body skill for faster egg hatching. This is why most people choose infernape. Even the elite 4 fire guy doesn’t have fire Pokémon first time lol
minor point, but the trophy garden pokémon don't accumulate infinitely. each day you can get a pokémon species "added" to the garden by the butler. the garden can contain two "added" species at a time. if you get him to add a new species, it'll replace the older of the two "added" species already in the garden
Man, the only thing I did not know was the one where when the start of a random encounter, when there is an animation triggered, the pokemon would have 2 perfect IVs. I wish I knew of this earlier. 😭
I'm not sure about BDSP, but in SWSH you could just have multiple profiles, each playing the game in a different language, and get your "foreign" pokemon for Masuda Method breeding that way. Of course to bring those pokemon back to your main save you will need either a second Switch (and a second game) or to wait for Home to add BDSP compatibility next year.
Another mechanic that some people don't know about is synchronize and natures. Synchronize makes wild pokemon have the same nature as your pokemon if it starts the battle which is helpful to getting those adamant, modest, jolly, and timid natures on the right pokemon.
Correction to the previous statement is that synchronoisee only has a 50% chance for the pokemon to have the nature of the pokemon having tbe exact same nature of the pokemon being captured.
Pomemon natures have always mattered in the pokemon games. Even in the original pokemon games there is pokemon nature's incorporated inside of them. It is just not shown straight to your face.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver Shadow Tag works based on the speed stat of the pokemon. Wobbufeet needs to higher speed than the legendaries to make them unable to run away, that was at least how in worked in those games intentionally on purpose. The only other way, I believe, to make them not run away is to have a Spinerak or Ariados use spiderweb on them with higher speed, but I believe that you cannot switch the pokemon out, I think, or otherwise the effect will wear off, I am not 100% sure of this though. Using Mean Look on Golbat or Crobat definitely wears off if you switch it out after the attack gets used. The roaming legendary was definitely running away from me then after I switched out the Pokémon.
5:35 What matters for Masuda Method is not actually the country you are located in but the language you are playing the game in. Eg if two Americans, one playing in English and one playing in Spanish, trade Pokemon they can still Masuda Method that way. However if one American and one British person, both playing in English, trade Pokemon the Masuda Method will not work as both of their Pokemon are "English". You can tell if the Pokemon is eligible because there will be a little box on the info screen listing which language the Pokemon came from.
Another note that will save a TON of breeding time, doing circles on the bike is faster than straight lines. Pull up step counter and try it for yourself!
I would like to add that when it comes to EV training that if you have been battling pokemon and have EV in a stat that you dont want, you can feed the pokemon certain berries that can reduce the EV of specific stats, this is extremely useful if you are wanting to max out specific stats such as Sp Atk and Speed etc
Another great tip (for legendary hunting) if you don't have a wobbuffet yet, have any dark type pokemon that has the move mean look. It acts the same as shadow tag, but does cost a round. PS. Make sure your pokemon is at a decent level as well when you go to fight the legendary pokemon or it will be useless.
And the pokemon has to be faster, so the zubat line is recommended for this. (Also, only really useful for wandering legendarys, like mesprit, not legendarys like dialga.
The biggest tip I can provide is that "You do not need a Pokemon to match the typing of it's moves, just to use that move". For example, Pikachu can use Surf and Dig Drapion, Luxray, and Gliscor can learn fire and thunder fang. Medicham and Elekid can learn fire/ice/thunder punch There are limited fire types that are good in game, (even with houndoom). Finding Pokemon that can use counter type moves are very essential. Even the electric Gym leader has a Raichu later on(rematch) that knows surf. It's a surprising element when using type advantage Pokemon.
Tip for Bottle Cap: A pachirusu from level 80 to 100 with pickup ability have 5% chance of get a bottle cap, you can create a squirrel squad of six to increases your chances to 30%
I wish I knew you didn’t have to catch Dialga/Palkia right after defeating Cyrus at the Spear Pillar like you did in the old games. Turns out they respawn after defeating Cynthia. Took me FOREVER to catch Palkia with my battle team, and it would’ve been much worse if I were shiny hunting for one with a good nature and everything.
Pro tip get the answers wrong on purpose in the gym with the questions. You want to fight the trainer with the drifbloom. Most of the post game is locked behind the National dex not beating the elite 4. One of the trainers has that ghost Pokémon which is probably the most missed Pokémon in game. There’s only one other one and that’s by the windmill only on fridays. So if you dont fight this trainer you will have to wait till a Friday to get your Pokedex full/seen and that’s way too long for most people online apparently.
or if you answer correctly like i did and the only way to get drifbloom is by waiting till friday, you can always change the date and time on ur switch to make the game think that its friday!
@@MsDaDioR this works but for pokemon the time change doesn’t happen until 24 hours after you do it, so set to Thursday then 24 hours later it should be available. I was lucky enough to get the game on a Thursday so I completed what I needed to do then caught the drifloon the next day
@@zachfal123 actually there's a trick in which it won't set back. If you go into the game and stand right out front of the windworks, then suspend the game (don't close it), then change the date to the past Friday, and the time to 10:40pm, then o back into the game, enter and exit the windworks, and drifloon will be there!
Also: The ability Pickup has a chance for the Pokémon to be holding an item after a battle, and it can pick up (11:00) Bottle Caps, Dusk/Shiny/Dawn Stones, Leftovers, Destiny Knot, Nuggets, Potions/Elixirs/Repels, etc. There are different level ranges where the chance for a specific item increases the higher the Pokémon’s level is. It’s pretty common on Pachirisu, which are pretty easy to catch! :)
I was trying to find the main character viewing first & then the wild pokemon. Couldn't find an article or anything about it. So this really helped out thanks!
Didn't seem like you were doing it in the video so here's another tip that can be easy to miss. When you're selecting the number of things you want to buy/use/sell/etc. instead of pressing up, you can press right or left to go up or down 10. So if you want 100 of something just press right 10 times instead of holding up for a longer period of time...or worse, TAPPING up 100 times. And pressing left acts the same as pressing down, just by 10. So if you want to buy 20 of something and you accidentally tap right 3 times you can tap left once to get to 20. One thing though since the counter starts at 1 instead of 0, when you press right it'll go to 11, not 10. Just press down once to get to 10 or just don't worry about it.
Another pokemon with Flame body is Magby and Magmar and you can catch Magby's underground early in the game. Also the pokemons you encounter underground may have special egg moves that they don't have in the wild (for example Ponytas underground may have Low Kick or High Horsepower)
I don't know if you have seen someone post this but it wasn't in the comments as far down as I read but I did notice that you have been liking comments as recent as a day ago so I hope you find this. There is actually a better set of trainers to farm money off of, there is a pair of Ace Trainers in the foggy area north of Solaceon, right next to a stairwell running around. With the Amulet coin equipped they drop ~26k and also only have one Pokemon each :D Great video by the way!
Which reminds me when will there be a news on the fourth update patch for both Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl games so we can finally used the Wonder Trade and Global Trade Station (GTS). I know there's Link Trade but Wonder Trade is the most important part of the games and makes it a lot easier, because in Link Trade you can trade your Pokemon with another which is good but the problem is the trainer decision takes along time to decided or just finish Link Trade without trying. That's why I prefer Wonder Trade because it's random and automatical trade without having to wait around. In Global Trade you can trade your Pokemon for another Pokemon by placng the name and trainer who seen that name will trade his/her Pokemon like magic. I've been using these opinion when I first played Pokemon X and Pokemon Y Games since them with the other POkemon games before the start of Nintendo Switch of Pokemon Let's Go Pikach/ Let's Go Eevee. I don't know why they're not added to the games before released back in November but I'm guess that with Pokemon Legend Arceus release that they wanted wait a bit longer before it's finally updated but I'm hoping it'll happen at the start of February because I'm getting fed up of waiting and because be worth it🤞.
I see so many people incorrectly state what the masuda method is/how its performed. its not about region. its not about what region or language your game is. its about what language the two pokemon being bred are. if my game is English from America and I try to breed one of my pokemon with an English pokemon from England, thats not masuda method. it doesnt matter what language your game is. it doesnt matter what region the pokemon is from. what matters is that the two pokemon being bred are from different languages. I can set my game to Japanese (which I do) and all my pokemon will be Japanese language and will masuda method with English language pokemon. If my game is set to English I can masuda method using a Spanish with a Chinese pokemon. Even if I, on my American system in the American region; were the one who set two different games languages to Spanish and Japanese to get these pokemon to breed together. TLDR; region means nothing for masuda method. your games language means nothing. all that matters is the two pokemon being bred together having different languages to each other. really not that hard to explain but I see everyone constantly explaining it as "your games region with a pokemon from a different region". Region is a different variable that has nothing to do with masuda method, even though its also tracked in the pokemons data, its a hidden variable unlike language which is independent of region. Region is what your console is set to. Language is what your game is set to. (Japanese carts for pre-3ds, language selected at game start for 3ds, and console language [not region] for switch) I have Japanese switch games and my system language set to Japanese, but my console region is set to US. My pokemon are Japanese language and can masuda with English language pokemon, even if I caught those English language pokemon on my own game by restarting the game with my system language set to English, even though its from a Japanese printed cart.
EV training was solved in X/Y with hoards. It took 5 minutes to max out a stat. Total of 20 minutes to EV train multiple pokemon. As opposed to spending $874,000 on vitamins.
I've got a question, is it possible to switch off that super effective/effective/not effective thing in the combat moves menu? I asked somewhere when the game came out and just got a bunch of people defending the mechanic even though I found it made Moon and Shield too easy.
Funny thing, I was hunting in the underground, I acutally got the lucky egg about a minute ago, and then he mentioned it! I thought that was a cool coincidence I should mention 🤣
The stats should be the exact limits as the max stat action replay codes that uses two separate action replays codes that are perfectly safe to use on the games. A Nintendo rep who I completely had no idea who he was quickly confirmed this information that I mentioned.
Veteran player here. ICYMI: The part of the video where he explains the ability flame body reduces the distances of steps required - that town is the longest road/path that you can go uninterrupted in the game (AFAIK) I’ve always gone there for hatching eggs!
Not sure if it's in the updated version but there was a route you could take on the Battle Island that would infinitely loop as the camera would automatically change direction when you hit a certain point.
You are absolutely wrong. Munchlax can be caught on the few rare trees with Heracross, reuse that same tree. You can get him as soon as you clear Valley Windworks. You cant get him underground until I believe you have 4 gym badges could be wrong. But can definitely get him early on a tree just has to be one of the same rare tree Heracross comes off of.
@@robbgamble4149 You can only get Munchlax that early via a tree if your SID and TID match a tree that’s accessible to you, most likely it won’t be which makes the underground way, way more likely.
@@HogEnjoyer while I completely agree with you , it's also completely irrelevant. He said it was impossible to get Munchlax from a tree which its not. I was just explaining the process and its literally exactly what I said. You may not get the rare tree till later but there are 2 right there so it is absolutely possible.
@@robbgamble4149 he didnt? He said you COULD find it in the underground so you dont have to find it in the trees. He knew it was in trees and his comment is still valid
Another couple of tips that took me a while to realise: - when looking at your party, you can press ‘R’ to go to boxes and grab Pokémon from the PC without being at the PC - you can register multiple equipment pieces and press ‘+’ on the right controller and ‘L’ to choose which one by the direction
From what I understand, these remake games don't really have an online matchmaking scene with rankings and whatnot like say, Sword and Shield. So the whole IV and EV thing becomes a bit useless unless I'm missing something.
You can check IVs and EVs anytime with "X" in the stats screen. It won't give you the exact numbers but if you know what your looking for you can tell what the IVs are from the beginning
