I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

I have buttons on my floor that I've taught my assistance dog to press to let me know when to take my meds and time to eat but also when she wants to go outside, when she wants to play, when she wants to go for a walk etc. I was worried she would just press them all the time but she's really good and knows our routine; it just means bad days I don't need to worry about caring for her needs as she'll let me know. She also does it for carers so they know what to do. I even bring a bell into hospital with me so she can let us know when she needs to go toilet. I also have attachments on all my door handles so she can open and close any of them herself, especially helpful if she needs to go an item for me like my medbag.

Honestly, my vision is fine.. but Fibromyalgia causes me to be unbalanced and bump into things all the time. I wish there were rounded doors and doorways. I always have bruises. Honest question: Would I be a bad person to accept an ada apartment? They have wider doorways, so I'm injured less often, but I know they're meant for wheelchairs. But, they do prioritize wheelchair users, so being offered one means they have none on the list. If accepted, would it be ok to keep it?

I started training as a flight attendant and I was very excited to learn the special attention passengers briefing!! I don't know if I will say this wrong but I learned how to brief someone with visual impairment and I hope that ill be able to help someone feel comfortable flying for the first time 💕💕💕
@sooooooooooooooo
@sooooooooooooooo Год назад
Honestly during training they didn’t teach us at all at my airline, I won’t say what airline , and I feel like I did absolutely everything wrong that you’re not supposed to do. So what I wish someone would have told us at training …. ( I don’t know if your aisles are straight but our first class actually has a random … curve ? Before you get to the main cabin. ) So be sure to let that person know if anything is coming up even if it’s at shin or knee level. I think we get so used to the layout of our own aircraft sometimes you don’t realize small details like that. Then , I would say be sure to offer your elbow or ask if you can grab their elbow . Be sure to mention if any of the lavatories are closed on one end or another so they don’t waste their time and if you say it over the speakers they may not notice so be sure to mention that during the briefing. Finally 😅 and most embarrassingly , I would say once they’re seated , maybe even lean in during the conversation , especially if they have a soft voice. I had thought this person was finished speaking and that we had understood each other and apparently after I walked away they had more to say and they didn’t know I had left. I felt totally mortified ! But anyway no one warned me about that stuff and I was brand new when that happened so I felt really jittery about getting the passengers seated and the door closed on time. So just relax and apologize best as you can if you happen to make any mistakes like me !! 😅
@sooooooooooooooo
@sooooooooooooooo Год назад
The only special assistance they trained me at my airline was basically four basic comments to remind them of and none really had to do with day to day activities it was all emergency procedures stuff. But your airline is hopefully more advanced than mine they may have really improved as time goes on as well I suppose .

Did you know you can make your own home ADHD-accessable/friendly? I also have ADHD, as well as a bunch of other psychiatric disorders, and since I did some changes a lot of things are easier for me to do at home. - A big whiteboard where I plan the week, with magnets of things to do (laundry, pharmacy, shower, friends etc), and a small portable one where I plan my day. I can easily see if I have planned in too much and need to cut down, or if it's imbalance in the week. - Place out things where I need them, so I don't need to go get them and get distracted on my way and forget my mission. Therefore I have 3 stations of pen and paper just in my kitchen, and that helps me not forgetting what I'm about to write down. My food shopping is easier to plan when I can grab the pen right on the spot. - Having timers on multiple places. If you're gonna do something fun and risk hyperfocus or getting stuck for too long, put a timer! If I'm on the computer I use the computer timer, for showering I use a kitchen timer to remind me to go to the next step and not standing for 30 minutes doing creams or whatever. There is more to do, this is just what I remembered right now. You can check out the channel "How to ADHD" here on RU-vid, that's where I got my inspiration from. She's really great!

It's so nice of Elton John to welcome you as a guest in his home. He's such an awesome cuddle king. Love ya

Very interesting. I love all the different hooks, the rabbit heads or the bee hive in the bathroon. There is a lot of things I would love as a sighted person as well. And how adorably cuddly was Elton John in this video ❤

I'm still mad about the radiator. Its such a horrible design flaw. I don't understand why the building would have been built like that. However you have done a great job keeping your self safe.

I’m sure she does. I mean, even I do & I don’t have vision issues. I just haven’t seen it in any of her videos I’ve seen.

The middle button on your dimmer switches is the "favorite" button, it will remember your favorite dim/bright setting. The install instructions on the website for them says "Press and hold the "favorite" button on either the remote or dimmer. Hold for 6 seconds until LEDS blink twice on in-wall dimmer. New favorite level is now saved."

I love the dimmer switches! With my epithelial basement membrane dystrophy, I find that certain lights irritate my eye when the weather changes. I can't count how many days of my life I've lost staying in my room in the darkness.

I love the rounded edges on the tables and counter top. I constantly have a bruise on my leg from the corner of my desk...and I am sighted.

What we did with our appliances is we tried to find things that connect to a device, but for the ones we couldn’t and that also had flat buttons we put on puffy paint that can easily come off

Okay Molly looking gorgeous! And your place is so fancy and cozy! I'm sighted and I still want all of those features, rounded corners especially - I have no excuse to be smashing my shins and yet I still do 🤷🏻

I apppreciate that whenever you said Alexa in this show? episode? video? episode. I appreciate that whenever you said Alexa in this episode it did not trigger the Alexa in my house.

I need rounded corners and no handles. I do not have any visual disabilities but I have been told that with ADHD my coordination is crap. I catch walls fast and door handles are my worst enemy. Especially the one that are bars. I typically have such bad bruises on my arms.

I’m not blind but I have neurological impairments. The amount of stuff one can trip over is astounding. Just moved to a new place that offers me to move more freely. Some of the thresholds couldn’t be removed for structural reasons so I found a motion sensored light strip online, no actual assembly needed, but it’s powered by USB-battery which needs to be charged regularly (If you have hand tremoring or weakness it might not be for you). I’ve places them near thresholds so they light up reminding me to be careful. Will share name of company if there’s interest.
