not true, the AKC has very specific guidelines for pure breeds whereas i really hope that we don't have such a thing for human breeds. look up "akc golden retriever colors". the possible options are "dark golden", "golden", and "light golden". if the video is to be believed, this specimen is too light to fall into the "light golden" category and therefore is not a pure-bred golden retriever. it must be a light golden, or "cream" color. impossible to actually tell over a video though
@@Kamel419 you know the way it would be weird if we did that about humans right? It's also weird that we do it about dogs. "This cant be a pure bred" okay and? caring about pure breeds is why we have puppy mills and shitty self breeders torturing animals.
@@NonCreativeRage If your argument is that we shouldn't have pure breeds, then why are you supporting a video which flaunts owning a "Golden Retriever"? Using the very name of the pure breed "Golden Retriever" is what makes it so. The dog in this video came from one of the breeders you claim to oppose. I own two dogs both rescues mixed with many breeds. If you were to ask me what kind of dog I have, I wouldn't tell you I have a Golden Retriever so therefore none of the questions presented in the video would ever be asked of me in the first place. So, do you support them or not? By engaging with this video, you are further perpetuating the puppy mills and breeders you pretend to oppose. If that's truly how you feel, don't watch it, don't comment, and move right along. doing anything else indicates to YT that this should be recommended.
@@Kamel419 my argument is that wierd people like you shouldn't give so much of a fuck. If you had a dog mixed with a lot of breeds but one stuck out you'd still tell people it's that breed. YOU are the one arguing "this can't be a pure bred golden retriever" talking about how important it is. I do not give a fuck about RU-vid's algorithm because I replied to your wierd comment.
I'm half assuming this is a sarcasm, but if it's not (or if anyone needs clarification) Golden -> refers to the most common color of the breed. Retriever -> refers to their history of being used for hunting dogs, when they retrieve the caught/shot animals.
Yah my family owns one right now. His name was Weasley and we got him about a year ago from a tiny family breeder who clearly loved her two goldens and the golden doodle about a year after we lost our dog Duke. He was a 13year old golden retriever and after losing him I was strongly against getting another golden because I worried we’d just be trying to replace Duke. But Weasley not only is a different color but is an entirely different dog. He’s a fat derpy marshmallow that we all love for being him.
He shouldn't be. Pyrenees are amazing dogs. Incidentally, there's a pyrenees-golden mix regular visitor at my local dog park -- he is EVERYONE'S best friend. LIke, seriously, practically all he does when he's there is go from group to group in the park greeting everyone he knows (dogs and humans). The. Entire. Time. He also acts like the park sheriff, breaking up any tension with other dogs. He's huge cuz of the Pyrenees part, only wolfhounds and danes rival him in size. You're a good dog, Banner.
I used to walk a gorgeous white golden retriever. She was so lovely and fun to just be around. She used to put her paws up on the back of my can and make me place my forearm under her backend and lift her into the boot. She easily could get in as her Labrador Sister did it perfectly fine 🤗
One day at the dog park I saw a similar looking dog and asked if it was a Pyrenees and the lady said no it’s a golden retriever and the next day I saw another similar looking dog and I asked is that a golden retriever and the guy said no it’s a Pyrenees. I felt dumb
I have a thin coat pyrenees and I used to have a golden. From far they look identical. The difference is the lenth of their legs and the texture of their hair. Goldens legs are shorter and their coat is much more silky.
my auntie has a golden retriever. He is an angry dog but he is so cute 😭😭💖 He doesn’t let us to love him all the time. Sometimes he bites lol but he is a really smart dog
What is weird though is “my grandpa had a Lab like that”. His lab did not have that much fur labs are meant to have more of shorter fur and crazier actions
Golden retrievers do vary from a light golden to a very dark golden. But any breeder selling and marketing “English cream” goldens in the US is a back yard breeder. Purebred does not mean well bred. And it is important to adopt or shop responsibly. Support breeders who are actively involved in bettering the breed by health, temperament, and genetic testing as well as titling their dogs and competing in the show ring or in sports. In goldens especially it’s important to go with a breeder who is tracking cancer in their dogs and breeding for longevity as goldens have very high rates for cancer.
Something similar with my Mom's Goldendoodle. He is black, so people are constantly trying to correct us and saying that he is a labradoodle. No, his pop was a black poodle, so he is now a black goldendoodle.
My two get called white labradors, cream retrievers... What are they?... I just tell them that on their k.c. Papers they are golden retrievers... I prefer the cream ones.. But i am biased!
