We call it lilikoi here in Hawaii, and both the purple and yellow type are ready when they fall off the vine, and are perfect for eating for 2 weeks after they have fallen. Such a wonderful tart taste. We love them!
I got a tiny Purple Possum plant and it keeps filling its pot with a ton of roots so I keep putting it in a larger pot! I live in NYS usda zone 5 so it must be potted but it will go out in May to Oct. Thanks for your nice video.
I just planted a few in the ground, but it's too cold here, usually it gets down to -15C or even -25C in winter, so I'll try two approaches. One is to dump my fall compost pile (mostly fallen leaves) on top of it, which would be equivalent to about 1.5m of mulch. And I'll also take cuttings before winter comes and root them into pots that I'll keep indoors.
I’m so glad to hear that your Passion flower bore a fruit, and I’m sure it’ll bear more flowers in the future; if you look after your vine well. So don’t get disappointed, gardening is all about patience and hope. Thanks for the appreciation and for being a part of my gardening journey.
Dear sir, you have included the FAQs . But the music of the vedeo is too loud and interfere in listening what you say. Any way you have put great efforts to convey the care and cautions for that I thank you sir
Hi expert ....I am from Singapore. My passion fruit plant has 100 over flowers everyday & there are bees and ants besides my manual pollination.Unfortunately the male flowers/anthers have no pollen grains, I took a few to dissect. My passion plant was grown from stem cutting. It was grown in pot for 1 year before I planted on ground in January 22 2023 and in June all flowers start to bloom, I have given enough potassium from burried fish heads/bodies and used coffee powder. Recently it started to bear fruits only when I manually pollinated with pollen grains obtained from other passion fruit shrubs. Your advice please
Great information, I have a plant probably 15 years old. It usually never losses all its leave. This spring it looks completely dead! What happened? Do I trim it all the way down? I have no green leaves… I’m so sad. The main stem is the size of a silver dollar, then smaller ones that look semi green. Do I cut all the way down?
Hi, how would I know if my passion fruit plant is self fertile, I have the yellow passion fruit plant but the flowers just falls off. I'm tried pollinating with my hands but it still falls off.
This can happen due to several reasons, like if there are a lot of temperature fluctuations in your region, or if too much water or too little water is being offered to the plant, or because of a lack of nutrients in the soil, which can cause the plant to abort its flower buds and prevent them from developing into fruits.
Here, temperature fluctuations refer to sudden changes in weather conditions caused by factors such as intense sunlight 🌞 or continuous rainfall 🌧️, which can cause stress to the plant and affect its growth, including the development of flowers and fruits.
Are you sure the plants you bought are really passion fruit plants? Sometimes plant store employees sell passion flower plants under the name of passion fruit plants. It's important to keep in mind that passion fruit and passion flower are distinct varieties.
If you ever visit "kents vlogs" then you will see him making a curry with the new tender leaves of the passion fruits plant/vines and enjoy them with pork.i have seen him enjoying them very often so i dont think they would be poisonous, i only see him getting healthier in every of his new mukbang videos!
Misleading title since all the facts have been told by other youtubers. The only thing I never heard anyone say is the plants are toxic, which they are not toxic.
I grow a lot In 200s and bigger i make all my own souls and castings and a big pot that’s living soil I never get rid of it and it gets better with age plus cloth pots breath well
Hi //////about passiflora///// Can i ask a few questions 1) my first passiflora leaves are curling in. What could be the issue? 2) this new passiflora came today in a grow bag in soggy solid red sand. My question about this one is 1) when do i repot it as it took 5 days to reach? If in a week then till then how do i water it bcs this soil appears soggy all the time? 2) also it in end april in delhi now and right now temp is 34 degrees. How much of the red soil do i remove? Please advise asap
Hi, leaves curling inward could be due to many reasons, such as some kind of infestation or pest attack, but in your case, I am assuming that your plant leaves are curling inward due to over-watering. Okay, the first thing you should do here is wait for the soil to dry out completely and strictly avoid over-watering your plant. If you suspect your soil may have a fungal infestation or your plant's roots may be at risk of rotting, you can use a solution of hydrogen peroxide and water during your next scheduled watering. It can be mixed with water in a ratio of 1:4, which means 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 4 parts water. Secondly, don't think of planting your plant into new soil as of now, as it's already in a stressful situation, and we don't want to put any more stress on it. Thirdly, when you see your plant is recovering and has started growing once again, then you can plant it to its final location - a semi-sun or full sun location. The Passiflora or passion flowers are very sensitive plants, so you have to be very careful when dealing with them. While repotting, don't disturb the roots, just plant it as it is, or else it won't survive. But yes, once you have made it adapt to your place, you will be mesmerized to see it flourishing so well with lots of its climbing tendrils and its flowers at your place. I wish you good luck with growing your passion flower. Fingers crossed!🤞
By the way, don't forget to create a well-draining soil mixture when planting this plant. In my experience, repotting plants in high temperatures can be challenging and stressful for the plant. So, it might be best to leave your plant as is for now and wait until the monsoon season to repot it into a new container. This approach can help ensure a smoother transition and better results for your plant in the long run! 😊💚
@@ParthMayn hi I immidiately spray with a fungicide when i get plants from online nurseries. This one is still in the nursery 5 inch pot. So its not underwateirng but overwatering ? Thinking it is underwatered i just watered again. U dont think it has a calcium issue ?
Ah, I see you bought it from an online plant store. In a 5-inch pot, there's less of a chance of overwatering, so you probably don't need to worry too much. Just make sure to water it well when the soil feels somewhat dry!
Yes easily! Take hardwood cuttings to propagate it... Monsoon and spring seasons are the best time to propagate any plant from cuttings. All the best! :)
Hi thanks for the appreciation. The pink flower is a flowering vine known as coral vine. I have created a separate video on it you can check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z6X8fPyhhg4.html
18 to 20 inches pot would be great for this plant. But I would suggest you to directly plant it in the land if you want Passion fruits production year after year. Also you can make use of any compost, no matter what animal waste it is made up of, but make sure it is decomposed well.
Hello! I live in a tropical country and my passionfruit vine has been flowering for months now. However the flowers mature to right size but seem not to open, and just falls after a few days. What could probably be the reason?
Well it can be due to temperature fluctuations in your area. Passion fruit vine doesn't like too dry or too cold weather. Passion fruits grow very well in humid regions. If the plant is not getting good humidity then flower dropping is very common in that case. Also to solve the flower dropping issue, You can try applying micro nutrients fertilizer such as sea weed extract or fish emulsion. You can spray the solution on its leaves and pour the same leftover liquid to the plant. I hope this helps!
Aha, humidity helps. Now I know to put my bubbling bird bath near my passion fruit vines. Thank you. I just found your channel today and I absolutely love your voice and accent.
Hi expert my passion fruit plant has 7-10 flowers everyday & there are bees and ants besides my manual pollination.Unfortunately the male flowers/anthers have no pollen grains, I took a few to dissect. My passion plant was grown from stem cutting. It was grown in pot for 1 year before I planted on ground in January 22 2023 and in June all flowers start to bloom, I have given enough potassium from burried fish heads/bodies and used coffee powder.Your advice please, I am staying in Singapore.
I wholeheartedly apologize for that. I had very less experience in video editing when I was working on this video. Still I appreciate your feedback 😊🙏Thank you
If your soil has magnesium deficiency then you can add Epson salt too it... Otherwise, passiflora do fine with any compost or additionally you may also add seaweed granules which will fulfill its micro nutrients requirements... Remember, Less fertilizing is better than over fertilizing. Good luck!
Many varieties are not self-compatible (self-pollinating), especially if started from seeds. You may need another variety to allow cross-pollination to set fruit. A vine started as a cutting from a parent vine (clone), will usually set fruit.
Hi sir why my passion plant after polinated still flower abortion it really make sad and disappointed please advise thank you cos I am a new learner thank you.
Hi Nelson, please don't call me sir. I am an amateur gardener just like you. As far as the dropping of the bud is concerned, there can be three reasons behind it: 1. Irregular Watering or Overwatering. 2. Sudden change in temperature in your region or inappropriate 🌡️ 3. Lack of Sun or too much Sun 🌞 I hope, you can now make an estimate what's the actual matter with your plant.
Is your climber receiving good amount of sunlight and water? Try adding any phosphorus rich fertilizer or NPK 15-15-15. If you don't like using synthetic fertilizers then you can simply use any compost from your local garden store. Hope that helps!
