Botswana was not fully colonized like other Southern African for e.g South Afric, Zambia and Zimbabwe etc... Therefore we had to build the country ourselves. Our forefathers worked hard for it to be where it is right now. Let me educate you about Botswana with regards to development. The British colonized Botswana but did not dwell much in Botswana because they deemed it poor and focused more on SA, Zambia and Zimbabwe. So little did the British know we had loads of diamonds. After we got our independence in 1966, September we discovered the diamonds.👌👌We are the 4th leading 💎 diamond country in the world. We are also leading in trading 🍖 beef, which explains the cows roaming freely. Basically we had to start from scratch in developing the country. We had to do it ourselves by sharing the wealth equally which was acquired through the sales of diamonds and beef. Education and health were put at the forefront as part of the national development goals. Botswana public schools and the health system have some of the lowest fees in the whole of Africa.💕💕
@@odiancreek I remember a conversation that we had with our history teacher when I was at high school. He said That they would have milked the country dry and not shared any of the the wealth Batswana. 😓Just like what they did in Zimbabwe, they colonized them till the 80's and made sure that they took all the gold from the country. Its really sad, Zimbabwean's are very bitter about it.. if you visit Britain, the gold that is adorned at the queens castle is from Zimbabwe even her crown has gold from Zimbabwe. Their foreign reserves are full of gold from Zimbabwe. That's the reason why Mugabe hated the British so much especially the royal family, they are literally thieves and murderers . Can you imagine that Zimbabwe only gained independence in 1980, this is still fresh on their minds. Meanwhile we gained ours in 1966. Zimbabwean's are always calling out he British to return their Gold.😿😿
Gaborone is a proper African capital city, with a mix rural and urban. There were no labour reserves “townships” built like in South Africa. Just out of interest how many African cities have you been to?
As a South African, the cows in the CBD was scary for me. But mostly Botswana is a beautiful country and has beautiful people. People have land and they seem to use it productively.
Ooh! Riana hle e le gore ga o ngwana wa mo Africa wena o makalela Kgomo. Those cows are for the locals, because they have to land it is very grounded in the Southern part of Botswana. Ba tla ruela gone mo toropong mo ga gona gore ba tla reng😢
Next time you should come to Kasane for boat cruising & game drive at cheaper prices. Kasane is one of the beautiful places in Botswana. This is where Meghan & Harry met when they toured Botswana. It is 60 minutes drive from Kasane, Botswana to Victoria falls, Zimbabwe...
South Africans don't want those things, especially these black guys, they want the Capetowns and Dubais, only Boers are enjoy that type of excursion. So she won't go there
I am South African married to a Motswana from Botswana and lived in Bots for 4years. All I can say, Bots is still developing with great potential. People are so friendly and many r friendly to South Africans. However, u do find some who r xenophobic but its a small fraction, not to worry about. I love Bots their Safaris r top notch. I will retire and relocate to Botswana permanently.
Well what shocked you about that, I mean about cows, we have cows and goats in the streets of soweto As a za citizen I am extremely proud of Botswana. This country has come a long way and is moving faster than even South Africa, plus Gaborone is cleaner than Jozi, you know that right. Last but not least, the Batswana of Botswana and those of Mzansi are the same people.
The issue of animals in the city needs to be taken from a historical perspective. Bear in mind that before independence there was no cities. Botswana was even administered from Mafikeng and Gaborone was the cattle post of Batlokwa tribe of Tlokweng. Comes independence, Batlokwa donated their cattle post, Gaborone, to the newly independent Botswana and mind you, the new capital was and still is surrounded by tribal territories, Kweneng to its West, Kgatleng to the North, South East district; under which Tlokweng falls under, and then to the South, you had your freehold farms. As Gaborone encroached on the tribal territories, they had less grazing land and this is why you see animals in town. The same scenario applies in the villages that are highly urbarnising ; they are transiting from an agro village economy to the modern economy. So when you think of comparing Gaborone with the cities in South Africa, bear in mind that Gaborone is as old as independent Botswana. So what you see in Gaborone now, by Botswana standard is phenomenal. Bear in mind that the developments you see, like the CBD area, did not exit just over 10 years back. I hope this explains some issues you raised about Botswana. Thank you.
I am South African who regularly visit Botswana. I was about to say the samething. Also bear in mind Gaborone is a young city compared to old colonial cities such as Joburg, Cape Town and Durban. Another thing about Gaborone, is that, it has never experienced the colonial or imeperial European culture like Zim and South African cities. It only now, that Gaborone is aspiring European standards of urban planning. You can full comprehend the biology of Gaborone, against the backdrop of Mmabatho in Mafikeng.
@@mopailothatelo583 true, Botswana did everything for themselves, even today no European investor is in interested in contributing to Gaborone growth, so if no one cannot support us we have to do it ourselves.
She's talking rubbish, I lived in botswana for 20 years and I loved it, they're traditional, they love their culture they're down to earth, humble and proud of themselves.
Of course every country has crime but it's an issue of degree. Very few countries can match South Africa and Brazil in terms of crime especially violent crime. I would visit Botswana any day because chances of getting randomly murdered or hijacked there are almost non-existent, unlike South Africa.
But why do u want to compare crime stats for a country which has 2Million people, size of Soweto to country which has a population of 60Mil people excluding more that 10Million Illegals from all over Africa and Asia. In simply probability u will found more crime in SA than in Bots.
@@mphonyanamothudi3805 As examples, Nigeria and Ethiopia with populations way higher than South Africa have significantly less crime than South Africa. It's because South Africa is lawless such that they even vote ex-convicts into power. Populations has nothing to do with it. It's a governance issue.
@@barrywhite5577 U r massively generalizing without facts. U can not compare Ethiopia and Nigeria to SA in terms of crime stats. For example, Nigeria due to resource scarcity most crimes r under reported or not even reported at all. Thus skewing numbers as if there is less crime . According to Adebanjo (2022), the last time Nigeria released a crime statistics report was June 2018 and experts say this is costly for a country wrestling with insecurity across various fronts. The problem with the lack of statistical coordination and transparency in Nigeria has persisted despite government funding. So your comparative analysis is flawed (Adebanjo, 2022).
It's about lived experiences. I travel widely and the only place I have ever been robbed at gun point or saw someone being robbed at gun point or had my rented car stolen was in South Africa, all within a period of a few months. Coincidence? I doubt. No scholarly theorisation required for that. Your patriotism is admirable but South Africa is a crime hub.
@@barrywhite5577 Clearly u r not informed about SA. If you going to use lived reality as a lens informing your experiences of crime in SA. U need to look at SA in its own circumstances. There is no country in Africa that has more illegal immigrants than SA. We know Illegal immigrants contribute significant numbers to our crime stats when compared to any other in Africa. Where there r CIT Robberies and violent crime, rapes and car hijackings u will find a foreigner involved. Drugs, prostitutions, human trafficking, 419 scams u will surely find a Nigerian etc. So before u speak shit about SA. U need to know some people from your countries come to SA to commit crimes. Tarnishing the image of our country for people like u to find news to spread your hate about SA. Hence we want mass deportation to clean our streets of foreign crime. However, I do acknowledge some SA citizens do commit heinous crimes. Be fair on SA
Comparison of Botswana to Estonia was something unexpected and interesting for me. All what I knew about these countries makes me see them very different. Your personal experience finding something so similar or comparable was something I don't fully understand, which makes it so interesting. You also mentioned that countries have some recognizable smells. I am aware that climates, vegetation, street foods, local predominant foods, even perfumes etc. can give such effect, but it is mostly just smaller areas and not really country wide phenomenon.
i just want to say this is not the views of South African Batswana. We love you guys and we are very proud of you guys. Please don't adopt sangoma ways, ngaka tsa setswana are different from nguni sangomas. Protect our traditions.
I am surprised that you could not see that culturally we are similar to South Africans. The shops are South African. Same cars and dress mode as South Africa.
Maybe it's Coz Their more Tswanas or people of Tswana in Decent who are South Africans In South Africa than in Botswana , places like Gauteng, North West, Northern Cape and provinces of South Africa.
Wow we applaud you Nonsi for going into these countries and educating us about. You inspire me to travel more now. On behalf of 🇿🇦 I also respect and thank Botswanians for welcoming you with such greatness. Big up🤗❤️
Thank u for telling us about your experiences in Botswana.I want to visit the country one day. It's true Batswanas are friendly people, make no mistake.I'm Motswana in SouthAfrica.Thank u. Love u.
Im praying for Botswana to not get high influx of entire african countries because it a peaceful and relaxed place to be, if you want to clear your mind just go to Botswana
woow thank you so much for this information, I as a south african have thought of moving to Botswana. I really needed this honest review. Ngyabonga Nonsi
There are villages surrounding our city. There is Tlokweng in the east, Mogoditshane, Mmopane and Metsimotlhabe in the west, then in the south west is Gabane. So these cows are coming all the way from these villages. But our city council or manicipality keep on driving them away from the city or their owners are being fined.
Your driver was so shallow and didn't get you a proper impression about the country. As for cattle we are proud cattle rearing country and aren't bothered about cattle roaming the city. 💪💪
Kiokiokiokio … I really love your documentary! I’m living in Canada and you give me interest un Botswana! I want 2 visit it for my birthday on January ! A cow???? I have 2 see it by myself!!! Afrika is WONDERFULL … I Hope i Will see u one day … i love your energy!!! Be blessed
One thing that is different from RSA is that Batswana slaughter a sheep for rituals, the believe is that the sheep is peaceful. Here in Rsa they use a goat🙆 you know the believe is that it will make noise and the ancestors will hear
@@canahB What I'm saying is if you treated cows like diamonds, they wouldnt be roaming around the streets like that. Angaz maybe iLanguage barrier, I dont know why are you not getting me
Funny how you compare Botswana to SA when people in Joburg alone are more than people in the whole of Botswana. No cows causes accident in the city lol....Anyway visit deeper.
You are just amazing Nonsi, your maturity at such a young age and intelligence is overwhelming. To see that there are some people that will just see you and judge you outwardly and don't even know who you are. The story about your life when you were growing up is so touchy yet today you can still smile and take charge of your life positively because you know that you are destined for something in this life. I'm a matured lady like a mother to you but I have learnt so much from your content. As you normally say people are not forced to follow you so I listen to what concerns me, other stuff I don't. I love your courage and confidence. You will really go far in life. I love you ❤
Oi Nonsi, please don’t make comparisons of Finland 🇫🇮, Sweden 🇸🇪, Estonia 🇪🇪,(or any developed Europe for that matter!) with Botswana 🇧🇼 or any other developing country in Africa 😢🤯!? Isn’t it a bit of exaggeration to be shocked by encountering donkeys/cows or twerking lassies in Gaborone….what’s shocking about any of that; cumon, ey..😂!??
You cannot be shocked by our Gaborone,it was developed from scratch by our Own black Batswana ,we did not inherit any kinder development infrastructuraly or any sort so cease comparing Gaborone with South African Cities which are infrastructuraly developed whyle it’s blacks under extreme poverty and high inequality levels, you won’t say you have seen the informal settlements the slums nor the homeless persons because all those don’t exist in Botswana,we are an Independent country doing good economically and with the highest human socio development, you won’t see the kinder of poverty we find in your celebrated South Africa,no African Country is organized like Botswana, even your SA.you witnessed cattle cz we are a farming nation we not like you South Africans who neglect ur roots the moment you leave for Gauteng, our government is a full support system in what ever we do,service delivery is excellent for all Citizens, you cannot compare us with ur failing state.just because fale dira bana le fiwa Ma R500 u think u better than us,the same kid is who expected to pay school fees .
Batswana are not small, get ur facts right,I know South Africa has problem ya Obesity so just because South Africans are obese does not make Batswana small.
You can't compare the crime in SA as compared Botswana.. you hardly see people shooting each other like capeflats or Alexander. Even getting robbed like Joburg CBD is doesn't happen in Botswana.
Hello. Thanks for your informative video. I have one question..... is the internet connection works when you have a backup power while the load shedding is going on..?
Yes, there is a crime in Botswana, but not as much as in South Africa *an unfair comparison due to population sizes* and they would run to SA to escape that lethal punishment.
@@matshidisomawele2165 The mastermind bomber who was caught in South Africa was a tswana from botswana. Remember when 10 suspects were killed during a shootout with the police in the South of joburg? Please tell me what crime a South African would commit in botswana, silly little insignificant country?
capital punishment in Botswana is for convicted murder cases, secondly whatever developments that you see in Botswana are a result of Batswana's hardwork, these are not colonial remnants like you have in South Africa. At independence, Botswana had nothing. so apples should be compared with apples.

I'm a Motswana living in SA, I disagree with u Nosi... are greatly exaggerating the cow situation.i sometimes see cows in Soweto specially behind and around Orlando stadium but I can not say there are cows all over Soweto.i understand u want to hype your video, but just do it right sis

Botswana is behind with developments dear.... The rich are becoming richer at our expenses but it's a very peaceful country, people here are thin because the unemployment is very high, we eat once a day if not unhealthy food I have been in S.A, it's a very nice country
But Sylvia understand that when South Africa and Zimbabwe were at 80% of the race because of colonial development Botswana was at 0% we did everything for ourselves because no one is interested in helping Botswana even if we can find huge oil deposit I think they will just take money and invest in their countries while Botswana stays like this. We ourselves we have to develop Botswana not government. Also development is not skyscrapers, we don't need them because we are 2 million in a huge land. As for eating once a day, most people actually eat huge meal once a day all over the world by choice not because they can't afford it. grow your own backyard garden you will eat twice a day.
I feel you were more on the negative than the good sides of Botswana, what i gather from the video is that there is nothing positive that you saw/got from Botswana except for the people and its the first time am hearing such an analysis... What about the beef, the peace and quiet the cleanliness compared to Joburg?
Where do people see cows in Gaborone 😂😂😂yes we have cows but we rear them at the cattle posts... Simple and beautiful lifestyle if you have a chance to Expirience it ❤
