Hi guys, this video is about some unique, strange facts about Shillong which i got to know when i visited Shillong and if you like it please like, comment, share and subscribe to my channel and hit the bell icon for further notification.
Shillong is blessed with great food , great culture and people. Meghalaya is a wonderful state in Northeast India with so many beautiful places, lakes, waterfalls , cleanest village in asia ( Mawlynnong village ), cleanest river ( Dawki river ), living root bridges and dangerous treks which can make you fall in love with it.
Life is really tough in this time of chaos and pandemic , i hope it gets back to normal again till then each of us must take all necessary precautions and stay optimistic.
I hope my efforts help you plan your wonderful trip and bring a beautiful smile on your face.

@@chillinwithlu2557 remember bro when it comes to garo all the powers are given to her uncles (mama) you will have no power. Theres a quarrel between you two the uncles will interfere if they dont want you as a son in law they have power to kick you out of the family and cut ties with you. You a husband will never have any power over property or over your family. If you cheat on her after marriage you will have to face all her uncles and vice versa. So think thrice before you think twice before marrying a garo girl.

We do not say pan like normally north Indian people would say . Here, in actual Pan is called as 'Tympew' (leaves) & how you say 'guwa/tamul' for betel nut is 'Kwai' in Meghalaya. It being everywhere, is solely due to the fact that it is grown as a potential commercial crop.

One of the places where law and order does not exist. There have been many non tribals who have been killed with no arrests. Drug use is rampant among the students. Guys are not safe of course in the nights or anytime. Mugging is a common problem. In short it's a place ruled by racist people but that's not visible. You will of not understand the language they speak in. The local population hates Non tribals. Non tribals not allowed to buy land but they can buy land anywhere in India. No Government jobs for Non Tribals, Seperate Trading License for Non Tribals. Shitty place it is apart from Nature. Tourism is the only survival game for this place. Bunch of hypocrites.

Not all people here love to eat pan actually there's a legend behind it for us Khasi why we ate pan if people from here give u pan take it doesn't matter u eat it or not it's a symbol of respect love and friendship that's what we do here even if we don't have anything to give u we'll give you pan

People eat paan not because of abundance but because of the cold weather.....it helps keep us warm. Try visiting Shillong in the month of Jan, we experience chilling and freezing winter👍

Wrong, while my way to mawlynnong I was walking in a street with my husband than suddenly one guy came and he touched my hand and to the limit trying to touch my thigh, than my husband scolded him and he ran away Second experience I would also like to share while walking towards sacred Grove some small boys took off their pants and doing inappropriate actions towards me, and these two incidents shook me from inside i was really scared for dayz

Come to umkhoi canyon truely it will blow your mind cz there's a lake on the top of the cliff and also a jaw dropping waterfall called shumshum waterfall.. location; umkhoi, mawkynrew way to nongjrong viewpoint

We went to Shillong Meghalaya in 2019 I didn't know that tourist are not allowed to see Shillong point Indian government should allow us who were born in Meghalaya but live abroad to have special permission to enter. I miss my Motherland Meghalaya. Thanks for the video

Meghalaya is not safe for outsiders specially for nontribals,nontribal means one who is not from Khasi community,Meghalaya demands for ILP inner line permit so what is the use of going to a place which hate people from outside the state Khasi student union claims that Meghalaya is in Khasi land not in India one can Google for more updates if you are planning trip to Meghalaya because most of the time the state is under curfew and in present interstate lockdown take care stay safe when at Meghalaya as a tourist because when you are at Meghalaya you are nontribal and its Khasi land not India Rgds Himanish Rc Bangalore Karnataka India

Another fun fact Arnab Editor in chief of republic tv also study in Shillong. If you want to be the next arnab please come study in Shillong. India we have 29 States 7 Union territory with different cultures and language but we have only one arnab. We need more peoples like arnab in India.

I spent most of my life in NE region, not only natural beauty but also friendly people are still there fresh in my memory except their sense of being ever neglected people by government of India. I have observed this as partially true since insurgency is the main reason for not getting these places developed despite efforts given. More so you produced extremely corrupted political masters who themselves eat away funds provided by Govt of India. In the present regime it appears that some positive initiative has been taken and hopefully the people of NE will come forward with positivity in their bid to fulfill their aspirations. The Central have neglected the NE and all the development project were done mostly on the mainland especially roads.. it is a shame to Bollywood shoots too. They promotes Switzerland, egypt, new Zealand.. Can't they promote our own country? 🤔

Well she doesn't know abt that but not all eat pan for us Khasi there a legend behind it so we're trying to keep that legend from this generation to generation eat pan or give pan to other people it's like a symbol of respect love and friendship if you remember correctly the story

Nishi, most of what you're saying is misleading. Would have been better if you took a local person along with you, who would tell you about the uniqueness of this place. You don't learn about the uniqueness of a place in 2-3 days, you'd have to be there for a considerable time. Maybe you can watch "David's been here" vlogs on Meghalaya. You'll be able to understand where I'm coming from. All the best!

Oh i had my friend cum driver with me throughout my trip who is a local so nothing he told is misleading bcz he is a true Meghalayan too, whatever i told in my video is what i was told by him
