I wish EA would take that mindset for the sims 5, you’d think the devs would be equally as into the game as the older players were considering they probably grew up with it. Really sucks they don’t take the hint
@@horselover8851 I really think a lot of it has more to do with the current limitations with game development, plus current hardware limitations (which is why we can't have the nuances that we want so badly, instead of stale repetitive pie menus.) Someday it'll be just like the real simulation we're living in now. And that scares me. 😜
@@kiillabytez i didnt say ALWAYS. I said sometimes. As an example if u want ur sims to sit and have dinner while chatting with family members sometimes its hard to do that. Because they stand up and walk and talk. In Sims 2 & 3 they dont have multitasking and they properly sit and have their meal while chatting. Multitasking will be much more enjoyable if there were no bugs & glitches. 😊
I've played every incarnation of the Sims from the first one, and while Sims 2 holds a special place in my heart I think people are way too hard on Sims 4. I really appreciate this video, and the first point about the worlds is the biggest one to me. I cannot tell you how frustrating Sims 3 was as a rotational player, and I love the feeling of having my generations of Sims grow up and move out of the house to new worlds, or being able to visit all of them. Sims 2 had its work arounds with the Downtown and sending kids off to college, but not being restricted to one neighborhood is the best feeling.
I really like sims 4. It’s the first one I’ve been able to play as I always have consoles. I find the negativity online doesn’t match how I feel about the game. It’s like people just take all the good things about it for granted, and only see what isn’t good. I saw a pack review go through how “build and buy was great, CAS was great, gameplay was okay, 3/10 there was more in the sims 3 pack and EA are greedy capitalists.” That’s not how reviews are supposed to work. It definitely has its faults but it’s still really enjoyable and there’s so much to do now.
As Someone who started with the Sims 4, I find it funny how everyone trashes on it. Like dang I jus got here. I keep telling myself I'll try Sims 3 but I can't get past how it looks. Sims 4 is the best looking one and it runs the smoothest out of all of them and I'm not sure I can give that up for more gameplay options
I tried the sims3 many times, and it's ok. I still prefer the sims 4. I just own the sims 4 and sims 3 (I bought the sims 3 after sims 4), and I started loving the sims franchise when I became really invested in the sims freeplay lol.
You're probably a player more interested in building, customisation and graphics (not anything wrong with it, I'm pretty much the same way lol). So I think why people tend to prefer the sims 3 (or 2) is cuz of the open world feel (which fair enough)
multitasking, the previous sims games i noticed seemed a little robotic in that they can only do one thing at a time, I think thats something we forget
That's actually something all the Sims games have. It was ambiguously worded here, don't worry, but what she means is Sims 2 has a genetics system of dominant and recessive traits that pass through the generations. Conversely, the other Sims games randomly select traits from either parent and only occasionally (randomly) take a random trait from a grandparent.
I'm not going to argue on the Build Mode thing. I recently tried to build on the Older games and it was a nightmare. There were no filters or even a search function in the Older games. Also, unpopular opinion, I don't want Create-a-style to come back in Sims 5. At least not a full version.
I totally agree with you, but I can't understand why simmers always want to get rid of great features like the create a style tool, instead of wanting an improved version that works way better in the next Sims game?! ☺️
@@kiillabytez many people seem to care about having the creative freedom to make every object in the game fit a different setting, aesthetic and environment, by simply changing it's colors and materials. It's clearly important, because EVERY life simulation game in production right now, from Project Rene, to Paralives, to life by you is working on including a version of this tool! 😆
I LOVED sims 3 World Adventures, gave me hours upon hours of fun. Always will adore sims 2 for nostalgia and it’s charm. Sims Makin Magic and other packs like the one that lets you vacation are so special as well to me because I was super young so my sister would share all these wild stories of her game.
Loading in sims 4 is sooooooo much better than the others lol. I feel like I actually get more game play than the other games because I'm not sitting through loading screens or tons of lag all the time.
To be fair, is it better tho? Sims 3 only loading twice for an entire session of gameplay. I'd agree with you if Sims 4 load an entire sub-hood instead of only current location.
The Sims 2 on a good PC definitely loads faster than TS4, from my experience. I see a lot of people on the reddit saying it takes 30 mins to load for them and I'm just like ?!? It takes 10 seconds for me, even with mods.
I like this video. I’m all for being critical and speaking out to make sure the EA gives us a quality game. You can still play all of the other Sims games if you prefer . Sometimes people get so wrapped up in hating on the Sims 4 that they forget they’re choosing to play it over the other games. It’s important to own your own choices
I've found that, now I have The Sims 4 on Steam, a LOAD of the wrinkles have been ironed out with the exception of Sims being spontaneously mean (weird one). Other than that, I find I can happily leave my Sims unattended and they will take care of themselves and each other relatively well. They won't run starve themselves to death or wait until the bar's in the red for them to use the bathroom anymore, they'll just stop what they're doing and tend to their basic needs. I've found that, when I have parents with Family Orientated traits, they'll be very wholesome and sweet with each other in ways I might not think of - Brilliant stuff I never thought possible for Sims 4, especially something uncontrolled! They won't do anything about their wants or fears though, which is where you come in as a player. I advise anyone, just once, to set your Sim family up with a reasonable amount of help (provide them with everything they need to care for, and entertain, themselves - making sure they NEVER have just a telly or they'll use it more than anything else), and you'll be entertained sitting back and watching them. I'd happily watch Sims 4 videos where Sims are left to choose their own lives and see their creators reacting to them.
I also forgot to add that, toddlers with the Independent trait are so smart now they can potty train themselves! Fantastic when you want your ideal world to get a bit better! :D
My first The Sims experience was with the sims 4. I've played it a lot and I found that what i like the most is focusing in one sim and letting all the other be free to do whatever they wanted. And if i need a break, i just like to let them all be autonomous and just watch to see how it goes. Now i got the sims 3 to feel the experience of open worl and i gotta say: the autonomous experience is way better. Sure multitasking is something i miss a lot, but the sims from sims 3 do take care of themselves in ways that fit way better their traits. My active sim loves to exercise on the tv, something i never saw a sim autonomously do in sims 4. I'm trying to enjoy as much as i can the experience of aims 3 so that i can come to enjoy sima 4 more when i come back. For now sims 3 has been surprisingly good and easy to play (and occasionally just watch like a movie)
Also something i love is how my sims with the trait "addicted to work" (my sims game is in portuguese so i dont know if that's the actual translation) take care of all their needs and then spend the rest of their time just working from home in the computer. It feels very real and is good for profit also.
Building in sims 4 is definitely easier. I hated building in 3 and I haven’t even tried it with 2. Just changing furniture in already built houses. Sims 4 definitely does not run well on my computer even though in 2016 it would have been considered powerful, but by this years standards it’s a potato . It doesn’t help I have an addiction to mods and cc. I like the toddlers in 4, but I like some of the stuff toddlers do in 2 as well. Which is why am excited for the infant life stage to get more of that sims 2 feel when it comes to babies.
finally a video where people aren't jumping on the bandwagon about the older games. All these points she made make me think Sims 4 is the best & it's the one I had the most fun with.
I agree.ive played sims one as a kid I played 2 non stop as tern, barely played 3.i can say sims 4 is by far my fav sims game.at least now there is so much to do and feel so alive.i put 1000 of hours into sims as a kid and will always be special to me but now I have 5 or 6 years into sims 4 and I love it
I didn't really play the Sims 3, so don't know how it works in the that game, but I like really like the aging options in the Sims 4, I can play multiple households and keep everyone on track with the ages, using aging on only for active household, allowing for generation/legacy game play, or if I am playing 1 household, then I can have aging on for everyone or turn it off for everyone, if I need more time to complete something, etc. I agree with the traveling thing too, in Sims 2 I rarely, if ever, left my lot because it was such a pain (loading screens), only to go to a night club or something. But it is so easy to hop around the world (even with the short loading screens) and other worlds (my dream would be open neighborhoods, so if you went to a different world or neighborhood you would have a loading screen, but everything in the neighborhood was open).
A few of my favorite things in the sims 4 that I love is : 1. Your sims aren't forced into specific pregnancy outfits when they're in the different trimesters. 2. How much freedom you have over weddings and what kind you want. 3. The abilities that you get to select with vampires, spellcasters, and werewolves as you level up. 4. The LGBTQ representation 5. Neighborhood stories update and how sims can live a life outside of your household without you guiding them.
By far the best feature in the game is the search bar in finding any item I need in build mode so easily compared to previous games than searching for that one said item you frantically look for.
Does anyone remember the little challenges the skills gave in the Sims 3? Just another detail I'm so sad we lost. It felt like there was a lot more to do with the skill, making it a hobby if you wanted it to be.
Loved the Vid but I wish console players were given a bit more love. Build/Buy mode is actually very user friendly but I do wish console players could do everything that PC players could. I agree the Sims 4 is an enjoyable game but I also understand that people who've played since launch can be a bit bummed out if they don't download mods to make the gameplay not so stale. A great list though! I agree wholeheartedly! :)
If I had just started out with Sims 4, it would be my fav no doubt. But I started with Sims 1 and went through all the ups and downs with the Sims franchises - wishing for more and being surprised with MOAR and but sometimes disappointed with LESS. The Sims 4 just felt like a step backwards when they should have gone so forward. Sims 2 is the best game mechanics by far and they should have run with that. Imagine that in Sims 4! I have played Sims 4 many a happy hour and really enjoyed myself. They just need to keep building and adding on to the game - and I'm talking game mechanics like memory systems- and maybe it will be one of the better games. I'm still buying those gamepacks and EPs. We'll see.
Thats the first video I saw someone talking about the good stuff of sims 4. I agree with the other critics but it almost ruin the game hear so much bad review about it.
As a new sims 4 starter, i remember that I wanted the sims 4 so much in 2018-2019, but my pc wasn't very well leveled at gaming so I couldn't afford to have the sims 4, and now that I got it I was really super happy and everything, but I don't see why do people represent the S4 game as the worst sims game in the franchise, iMO I find it superb, I have never played any other sims game apart from the FP sims, but personally I like the sims 4 because I think the graphics are great and that my goal for having the sims 4 was to create a small family etc, soI find that the sims 4 are really well done in terms of graphics etc....speciay the cute little infants ❤❤, ik the sims 2 is the best in term of realistic and detailed gameplay but that my opinion :)
Optimization is best in all serries i think. Also interaction is better. If you play intention do a carrer, the sims 4 is best one. Is really nice to see what you can do in game and how to far come with hobys and carrer. Also extension go to work is really nice. Retail store things is really nice. And for me, this game is best for living lonelly, but in familly creation, other sims games is better. Other players didnt understand, that all sims games is about dolls and dollhouses. Try to make story. For story creating, this game is fantastic, just try it.....
There is no “optimization” Lmao they just removed the open world and the style of the game is cartoony because its an excuse to make cheap renders of one layer whit shadow drawed thats were the famous maxis match style came out, while sims 3 had to emulate really advanced 3D renders that were not just an ugly layer whit draws for each sims hairs, clothes, etc because there was actually story progression, other sims had life aswell, thats why it was so laggy but at least u didn’t had to emulate every story in your head, your sims had their own life and their own essence, try the sims 3 whit cc and smooth mods and you’ll see its x100 better ❤
Main thing sims 4 has going for it is stability even with many expansion packs. Every previous game has been poorly optimised and becomes increasingly prone to crashing and slowing down as you install more content. Personally I can't stand sims 4 build mode though, I hate how hard it seems to be now to make a stairwell and don't like how placing fences works. I do like we can easily make a room bigger, it has some good features, but I tend to just import houses from the gallery instead of build any. I never was a good builder and I feel like I just get worse at it with every new sims game. Another thing Sims 4 did do right is hats and hair. First game where you can wear any hat with any hairstyle. With sims 2 and 3 you really had to look for something that would be the right length or texture when not wearing a hat.
I’d love to see you do a let’s play for sims 3 generations, supernatural and into the future. I never got to play sims 3 much, and I’ve toyed with the idea of going back and playing with it just for those expansions, but also can’t justify giving EA more of my money.
I agree that some things are better in sims 4... I just find myself becoming bored after a few minutes of playing, unless im building a house... Sims 3 I would olay for hours on end.
I'll never forget the time in Sims 3, I was on my 4th gen and my young adult male sim went online to find a date And his fucking great grandmother messaged him romamticly trying to get a date. Sooo I realized in Sims 3, great grandparents don't exist unless maybe on a gravestone
My fav part of the sims4 is i can go and move to every world and keep my friendships and life.u couldnt do that in any sims game and i dont see why thats not a huge problem.i love how we can multi task.i love the sims 4.i can actually create beautiful characters of any race.ive never had mods on any sims game so i never had all the good stuff yall did.so as a non modded player for 20 years.i think sims 4 is the best.i can actually build.as some1 who loves gameplay and building, its the best game for me
If The Sims 4 was less cash grabby and added vehicles that worked like The Sims 2 and had brooms didn't work like a teleportation thing then it would be in my eyes the best Sims game.
looking at Sims forums, they don’t have to be blood related to get that connection. and it possibly it just has something to do with them ageing up together. whatever that ends up meaning.
While I like how easy it is to build in the Sims 4 (not counting the colour wheel), I actually really miss the sorta “dated” furniture and accessories the older Sims games had. Not every building or home will be completely modernised and I want to be able to reflect that in my game!
I feel this so much! I want landline phones and more late 20th century - early 21st furniture. I hope TS5 does something more interesting with the era.
I kinda think that the orientation thing was a bit unnecessary. I mean, in the previous versions of the Sims they were already bisexual by default. The simmer could date, woohoo or marry either gender. This whole LGBT add-on seemed to just pander on to what people want more of in society itself rather than just the actual gameplay. As a black person, I love the afro/braid hairstyles and outfits from different cultures, but that's not the reason I play the game. I play it to mess around with Sims lives to create an interesting story, not because of "representation".
But it helps when people want to play as themselves or sims that they relate too,, it's not pandering it's just giving people the option and people love details like that
I agree the sims is a good game, but it has been out for YEARS, and the only things brought out were packs (ignoring toddlers etc, because that's honestly just basic), they could've improved the game a lot more In my opinion
Im lgbt and im sorry but i hate the sexuality update, like, the sims is a perfect World were theres no need for label anyone and it makes gameplay more complicated, sorry but no
The length of the video shows how little there is on offer for TS4. I enjoy the poppy color with shaders, the easier build mode (sans color wheel) and the calendar even though I find I don't use it as often.
I think being able to have ur sims not stuck to one world, that alone makes it better than sims 4.people play for different reasons,to me,thats huge.i can have the stories I want not restricted.the sims 3 because it was open world was always empty.my sims are always seen in newcrest that live there.in San myshuno I can see my sims around the city
The main thing that bugs me is not having an open world in 4. Whenever it was introduced in 3, I thought it was groundbreaking and would be a steppingstone moving forward. But then 4, at least loadwise, same as 2. Otherwise, I actually enjoy 4 quite much too. My best friend thinks I am crazy for liking it as much as I do and swears by 3. Ah well, I think they all have their perks and drawbacks. True, some have a bit more than others but..... Not everyone is a game designer so we buy whatever is offered
I think we all need to admit that sims 4 should have had all the features of 3 on day 1. But they didnt. So comparing these is silly. Because even with some great improvements. Sims 4 to this day is still massively lacking. They should have had both in 4. But they got lazy. and thats them being a lazy company. Really.
I must say I realy like the Sim community for the way it aproches disscussing TS4's problems. I'm in a lot of fandoms were whenever something new comes out it's always the worst thing ever, it will ever be like "thing XYZ", and the creators are all stupid ugly peopole. Even if that has some truth to it most of the time it always gets blown out of proportion in my opinion. However the Sims community at least to me seems to always give the right ammount of criticism to the game while never becoming too overlynegative.
