I go over accessories that I believe you should go ahead and buy while waiting on your Tenere 700. I also will go over items that you can hold off on ordering. This will allow you to have everything you need and nothing you don't when your T7 finally shows up.

Great ~ the windshield brackets were my favorite; followed by headlight protection and crash bars.

Totally agree with the last part about the remorse on accessories. I bought a new 2021, decked it all out, did not love how it turned out, sold it and took $0 loss, and now have a deposit on a 22 to start from the ground up.

Thanks for the great review and recommendations. I'm up in New Bern, NC and have been waiting about 6 months for a new T7 to become available. I subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to joining the ADV bike community.

I’m 5’10” and had the same issue so I just bought the Puig Windshield and no more problems AND I now have two windshields. I like the Heed Guards as well. I’ve had both types of saddlebags and the Factory Hard Bags made by GIVI just can’t be beaten for Security and Protection. Now I have to qualify that statement by saying that I use the T7 exactly like it was designed to be used, long distance riding on all types of roads and off-road riding when I want or need to. Personally I say Use what works for You and what you can afford.

Definitely need a bash plate, as we call them in Australia, skid plate in the US, adventure is about the unknown, so you never know what lays ahead, so protect the underside of the engine and some added protection for the water pump. Number 2 is a rear chain guide that bolts onto the swinging arm just in front of the rear sprocket, the T7 has a long chain and long suspension travel, so the last thing you want is the chain to derail, it is in the Yamaha accessories catalogue, worthwhile investment.

Question about the Heed crash bars. When you picked your shipping option did you choose the less expensive of the 2 which was ~40. The other one for UPS is astronomical. Just checking to see which you chose

Hey your bike is set up nicely, thanks for sharing! Also thanks for linking the parts that's very helpful. I've got a 2022 and I want to start with the tail tidy and all four turn signals. How hard was the turn signal install and which relay did you use? That windscreen mod is so cool, I think I'm going to have to do that and the bark busters too.
@adventurejunkie9658
@adventurejunkie9658 Год назад
I used the relay from camel adv. It was pretty easy. Fronts took maybe 30 minutes. The rear took longer if you factor in taking about the trail section and putting the tail tidy on. That took at good hour or so.

can you install the bars without remove the plastics???
@Cheeso99
@Cheeso99 2 года назад
There are windshield adjusters on the market made of 3D printed PETG plastic. In case of an accident that might be the better solution to avoid additional injuries since they would flex more than the aluminium version. I have the rally edition of the '21 t7 so I can't use the crash protectors from poland. They mention this incompatibility on their website. Thus I went with the original Yamaha crash protectors. You mentioned the heed protectors are mounted to the frame instead of the motor. Maybe this is better. Is there any incident known where the motor got damaged in case of a crash using the Yamaha bars? I also have the Yamaha front light protector. Since a front light replacement costs 1200 Euro in Germany it is a good invenstment. Other things I added and I am totally pleased to have bought them: - Pivot Pegs - USB Port Yamaha - Altrider sidestand enlarger - Altrider rear rack black (slim lightweight design) - Enduristan Tail Bag - Enduristan Blizzard XL Bags (17-20 liter each, the horizontal straps in between the bags can be permanently installed unter the seat) - Enduristan Rock Straps 1400 to install a 50 roll back from Touratech if I travel - main stand Yamaha - T7 swing arm protector (prevents damage to the swingarm in case of a bent exhaust after dropping the bike to the right side) - Daytona heated grips Still thinking about Barkbusters. Thanx for the information about the specific t7 ones! Greetings from Germany! Stefan

I have not heard about issues with motor mounted crash bars during a crash. I have heard several times of the bolts stripping out the threads in the motor. It seems like there is a fine line of the bolt being too long and cause damage or too short and stripping threads. Sounds like you got a pretty modded bike! Enjoy

I totally agree about the double take mirrors. They are expensive and in my opinion kind of ugly. The stock work fine and look a lot better. Why replace something that hasn’t broken yet? People list these as a must have in many videos I’ve seen and it makes me scratch my head. The Barkbusters now that’s a must have, although I went with Accerbis because they were available. Work great.

I was really interested in buying a world raid then decided nah, because I started adding up the cost of adding bits of kit to it not in the least a high level exhaust to fix the ridiculous design flaw that Yamaha shouldn't have made in the first place or at least rectified themselves with an update.
@adventurejunkie9658
@adventurejunkie9658 6 месяцев назад
The low mount exhaust will possibly bend or break the mounting bracket on a hard enough fall. I figured at that point I’ll just buy a high mount exhaust as you’ll have to cut that bracket anyways. 10,000 miles and it hasn’t been on its side yet.

Normal riding. Avoided bouncing off the rev limiter. Changed oil and filter at 700 miles. Rode it like normal after that. Not a high performance motor, so nothing special needed.

I’m glad someone mentioned this. I’m getting a brand new 2024 Tenere 700 soon and I don’t like doing break in periods at all. I don’t want to do a soft break in, but I don’t want to abuse it either. It’s not a high performance engine so luckily I don’t have to stress about it too much 🤷🏻‍♂️
@orionm5993
@orionm5993 Месяц назад
Per the owners manual, it recommends avoiding prolonged periods above 4700 rpm for the first 600 miles. So just dont get out there and just absolutely abuse the poor thing and youll be fine

I think you missed one very important add on, which should be added before anything else. A good skid plate. If you're adding crash protection for offroad then that should be first on your list.
@adventurejunkie9658

You're correct. Skid plate is one thing I did not touch on. I would say its recommended if you get off forestry roads but not needed if you do not.

@@adventurejunkie9658 I have BMW brand and Touratech brand of most things they make. One set in USA and one in France. I own no car. I ride 12 months a year. Through three continents. I fall periodically off road. So. Based on that. Crash bars. Panniers. Top cases. Textiles. Boots. Even under garments. Lights. Bags. Suspensions. All of it. Touratech makes the BMW aluminum panniers. Thinner and not as well designed as TT branded ones. I’ve been riding for 61 years. My USA bike is a BMW 1200 GS Adv. European bike 2018 Yamaha T700 With remanufactured wheels (spoke tubeless). In Europe I’ve been through every significant mountain pass in every country other than Russia, Ukraine, and Poland. Multiple times. In Africa, the Atlas mountains, and of course the Sahara. In April I leave to do Corsica,Elba, Sardinia, and Sicily on pavement with wife on back. 35 days. Then she flies home and I take ferry to Tunisia and then wherever circumstances take me. I usually come back in September. The Yam is the perfect European bike. The Beemer, the perfect American. If I go south to Mexico, Central and South America I’ll probably buy a 450 cc twin and flat black it. The danger there is not the road. It’s people.
