In a recent video, I explained why I made the choice to leave the Charlotte Mason Education Center (the CMEC). The goal of this video is to give you some questions to consider before you register with the CMEC. My goal is to help you consider whether or not the CMEC will be a good fit for you and your family - because it just might be a good fit!

I was so grateful for your last video about CMEC! It helped me make the decision I was struggling with. I decided to go with the alveary ❤️ we’ve been using AO, but my kids are older and I need more guidance to properly implement subjects the way CM intended. I also want books that reflect as many perspectives and people as possible. I can imagine how hard it is to make these videos because we know how much time, love, and energy has gone into the creation of all of these programs…but $300 is a lot of money to spend just to figure out it isn’t the right fit after all. So thank you! I love the way you have shared this information without being overly critical or belligerent towards the organization ❤️

Thank you for this video! I have a friend who is curiously enough pulling out of a gentle CM style co op, enrolling her oldest two 2 children in a hybrid because she says she has to do a lot of prep for her CMEC curriculum. To me, something is amiss there. I have been schooling my kids for over a decade, almost two decades. I Read Home Education early on in my journey. Keep my schooling as close to CM as I can, enjoying my family, protecting my children’s wonder and awe. I don’t think it’s that complicated. I love a book called Pocket Full of Pine Cones and truly it gave me a guide as to what I wanted my homeschool to be like. I believe if anyone wants to school CM they need to read Pocket Full of Pine Cones by Karen Andreola. Charlotte Mason was certainly not a busy momma with a couple of toddlers and babies in tow. Her style looks a lot different in real life with a large family and household full of chores. It definitely is not loading up the momma with a dozen individual subjects for each one of her children.

This was a very helpful video! I think a lot of women will be able to make a better decision about whether the CMEC is for them from your video!

Thank you so much for sharing this! My oldest is 3, but I have been looking at the CMEC for the future and I really appreciate having many different perspectives before spending the money on it! You shared your experience so graciously and I know it will benefit many other mother teachers!

Thank you for watching! I know it's a tough choice to make but my hope is to help inform other mother-teachers so they can better choose what will work for them!

Such a gracious and helpful video. You model how we should approach things we disagree with. Way to go!

Thank you, I really wish I had a video like this one last year when I was thinking about using the CMEC. I was struggling to provide the education I wanted for my children and switched because I thought it would be easier. Spoiler, it wasn’t and just led me back to the same place of questioning what was best for us once again. We’re not using most of the CMEC this year, and instead will be making my own program like I’ve done in the past. All that is to say, this past year has helped me be more solid in my opinions about our curriculum and I think it’s a good structure for new homeschool moms with a type A personality that enjoy organizing and following their schedule without variation.

What a lovely video. Well said. Do you know of a similar style of video that talks about The Alveary?

Are you looking into another “program” for your kiddos? (SCM, AO, Alveary etc) or just curating your own curriculum? Have you found anything you like better for geography science and history? Those are the three areas we are also really struggling with this year with cmec.

I did look into all of those and I'm ultimately pulling from most of those to create my own curriculum for next year! We love Beautiful Feet for history. I'll be talking about some of the other choices for this year in an upcoming video so I hope you can tune in! :)
