It’s the time of year to escape the heat and crowds of the city, but you don’t have to travel too far to find a great getaway. The small town of Bangor, Maine, is an ideal summer destination for those local to the area.
Bangor is a lovely little town with a lot of things to see and do, and as it turns out, many of these are free. Featuring many parks and recreational areas, Bangor is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, but there is no need to leave Portland.

@@653j521 (1) Hollywood Casino does not have an outdoor pool, and I don't believe it has an indoor pool or a "kiddie zone," either; (2) Fires are not allowed at City Forest; (3) There is no camping at City Forest; (4) Hunting is not allowed at City Forest; (5) Cascade Park does not have bicycle trails, a playground, or a baseball field; (6) The Orono Bog boardwalk is nowhere near the Penobscot River or any kind of "bluff"; (7) What the heck does the Thomas Hill standpipe have to do with raising a fire ladder? (8) Bangor has no amusement parks and no roller coasters or opportunities to ride in antique cars; (9) There are no children's activities at the waterfront concert venue; (10) Stephen King no longer has a home in Bangor; (11) The air museum does not have a large collection of planes; (12) Lumberjacks had nothing to do with the Paul Bunyan statue; (13) Mount Hope Cemetery is not known as the "Garden of Hope." The walkway and "huge rocks" description is pure fiction and nonsense.

Terrible. Many blatant errors in this video. No amusement park in town, good luck trying to see Stephen King's house besides from the road, you can't just "go on a boat ride" on the river unless you own said boat or know someone who does, no baseball field at Cascade Park, I've never seen kids at the casino....Bangor is a great place to visit, but don't use this video to plan anything.
