Please don't pay 50€ for a taxi! All public transportation is free in Luxemburg so you'll be able to go everywhere by bus/ train/ tram for free.

We definitely did not! How awesome that the transportation is free.😊

It’s free but it’s shit. I live out on the western border and the trains go one an hour. One per hour. That’s ridiculous. I’d rather pay and have a better service.

You must live in the middle of nowhere then because, in Luxemburg city and outskirts you see busses and similar pass by every few minutes.
@valueinvestor77

@@alexiosblake9804 you must live with your head up your arse if you don’t réalisé how bad the public transport system is. "chirp, chirp, chirp" or how we would say "piep, piep, piep" Well, this situation brought back a child memory, when an 'uncle' of me (well, he was a neighbour of my grandparents, but we use to say uncle to well known and loved family friends) had me in his arms an thought me something about birds, how they are named, look like and how they sound. He was very brilliant in whistling with his mouth replicating dozens of bird noises like they were real. Sadly he isnt with us anymore, but luckily those memories are still there and make me smile like a kid.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay, even though visited Luxemburg during wintertimes. Luxembourg is just beautiful. Both the old town and the entire country. In summer, i recommend a walk in the "Grund" or a visit to an open-air concert in the Neumünster Abbey. In late summer the so-called Schueberfouer (a big fair) is organized in Luxembourg City. The Müllerthal is ideal for hikes. The „Schießentümpel“ is a must see. The Castle in Vianden is worth the visit aswell. I'm really happy that I live only 30 minutes away and can therefore take a trip to Luxembourg quite often. 😊

In Vianden in the street at the foot of the castle there's an inn called Auberge Aal Veinen Beim Hunn. They serve incredible wood grilled steaks. The best I've ever eaten. Nowadays it's hard to reserve a table. It's so popular that you'll have to reserve weeks in advance. It's a four hour drive from where I live so eating out at the auberge requires an overnight stay.

Just for fun: Fuel up! Honestly, normally Luxemburg is by far the cheapest place in western europe to buy fuel. (and maybe coffee) :) Letzeburgisch is their language and might be considered as german dialect. But for us it always seemed like: Everyone speaks perfect (High) German and French. And likely also English.

As it often happens, you relate places to stories that happened to you there. I've got a nice one from the town of Mersch in Luxemburg. Crossing through by car, I asked someone for the town centre. I did so in German and I was told that we had to turn left at the red traffic lights ( = rote Ampel ) but all traffic lights happened to be green. It only ocurred to me after the fourth or fifth that it was the word to word translation from the French word feu rouge. No matter whether they are red or green, they are called "feu rouge" = red light. So we just had to try again only knowing the town centre was to the left and all the way back.😂

As a Luxembourger I bet for tourists it feels very nice and all. 40 years of living here has taught me though that not everything is gold that shines. Life here isn't that great if you haven't got wealthy parents or are married with kids and have a family to rely on financially if need be. It is a very hostile country for single people of the middle class that is shrinking by the minute making the gap between rich and poor grow at a very rapid pace. The cost of housing even in small villages outside of where you'd work is insane compared to other countries and our public transport even though free of charge now is really badly connected and unreliable. So if you do not own a car you are screwed if you want to be able to get to work. Enjoy the holiday and leave with a positive impression I guess, life isn't that great for the average person living around here at all though.

@@OurStorytoTell No worries, my ex had the same impression as you when she came to visit me the first couple of times (she lives in Berlin and came from an Asian country originally half a decade ago). But once she had to take a cab for the first time because she missed her bus to the airport and later after she looked into the housing market she was kind of shocked and told me that we'd have to find an alternative to living in Lux if we were to ever live together since none of us would ever be able to afford to buy a flat or a house around here.

Nice video again. Hope you also visited Schengen, the little town in the beautiful Moselle valley where you can breathe the *idea* of modern Europe like in few other places, except maybe if you take the streetcar from the station at the Strasbourg cathedral right across the Rhine and into the city center of Kehl. Schengen gave the Schengen accords its name, as they were signed there. Cross the little bridge and you're in Germany, then turn right, and after a few steps, you're in France. Where only a lifetime ago young men had to butcher each other, today, you'll even miss crossing the borders if you're not watching carefully.

Luxemburg is cool... a good fusion of French and German culture... Patisserie Oberwinter.... so tasty ! Letzeburgisch, German and French are all present in daily life. Enjoy ! If you're heading to France you find similiar types of mixture, but not that clearly. France had a different very strict policy for a long time on minority languages. But Strasbourg and Colmar are all worth a visit, but so is Belfort, Bescancon and Nancy and of course Metz, the lorraine capital. Letzeburgisch (Luxemburgish) is actually a German dialect with some takeovers from the neighboring French. As you can see in your video, not only the city of Luxembourg but also the surrounding countryside offers so much. I have been there twice, once for several days and I like the country very much. I can especially recommend Castle Bourscheid. A ruin with a magnificent view over the valley of the river Sauer (German) or Súre (French). Vianden Castle is also very beautiful. Unfortunately, I have seen it only from the outside, because it was closed when I was there.

Luxemburg broke free from "German territory" early on. At that time Germany was not yet united. But Luxembourg also lost half of the country to Belgium. Or should I say the southern Netherlands, when Belgium was still Dutch? And Luxembourg lost land to France too. Luxembourgers understand German but speak another Germanic dialect or French. They insist on not being German, French or Belgian. Their motto is: We remain what we are. =Engl Wir bleiben was wir sind. =deutsch Mir bleiwen wat mir sinn. =luxemb. We blijven wat we zijn. = Dutch

In WW2 Luxembourg was occupied as German territory. German conscription also applied there. Much to the displeasure of the population, who refused to cooperate with the Germans. This went so far that the Germanic Luxembourgish dialect was not spoken when Germans were nearby. Because the Germans could have understood all that if they came from the other side of the river.

Luxembourg's policy in Europe is often very successful. Luxembourg often mediates between the big countries and knows how to address everyone correctly. It is often Luxembourg that manages to bring different professions together. So this dwarf plays a big role through clever politics. The location of Luxembourg alone makes it necessary to promote harmony between the countries. Today the borders to the other countries are open and joint agreements are easy.

Sorry to correct you. In Luxembourgish it says : Mir wëlle bleiwe, wat mir sinn! A wëlle jo keng Präise sinn. We want to stay, what we are! And do not want to be Prussian. And this is because until 1870 we had Prussian Troups in Luxembourg. In 1918 and 1940 the Germans did not respect the fact that Luxembourg was a neutral country (like Switzerland) and occupied us twice. And before we had been Dutch, French ... So we want to be what we are , means Lëtzebuerger! The country was 3 times bigger until the 19th Century and in the 14th Century three German Emperor were from the house of Luxembourg. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haus_Luxemburg#Die_K%C3%B6nige_und_Kaiser_des_Hauses_Luxemburg

While very nice and clean, Luxemburg Stadt always felt a little bit empty and lifeless. In comparison to Trier.

Nice bud however you didn’t point out how aggressive and rude people are. public transport is free however it sucks: only works if you stay along the tram in central Lux city. Overall food sucks (standards are low) and not many good hotels,,,also it’s super boring(just walk around the Grund or Haute Ville) so not worth it! Stick to Paris London Munich or other places. Finally you’re wrong about language: most common language is French throughout the country.
