So happy you both made it to Canada's first incorporated city and to The Fundy Trail! We love living here and hope you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed doing your Canada 150 videos during our homeschool year as we explored Canada province by province. Looking forward to more of your Canadian adventures. My boys have definitely been inspired to see more of this beautiful country.
We are pleased that you stop by Saint John, NB! A Saint Johner, here 👋. Even though I grew up here for 21 years, I learnt more about Saint John 😅. I had fun watching your video!
Hola muchachos siguiendo sus maravillosos recorridos desde el bosque hasta ciudades históricas, cuidense mucho, su amigo Oscar de CD. Satélite, México.
It’s always a pleasure to watch your videos, guys. One day, during the Road to 150 journey, I was wondering to visit all those places as well and today, inspired by you, I can watch your videos again and remember the places I visited in Canada. Your work makes a difference in people’s lives, never forget that.
You're so funny Karla ... Yes don't feed the animals..... I love this adventure in New Brunswick...everything looks amazing... Thanks for the great share... Keep safe always and God bless you both 🙏
@@MustDoCanada the weather and the beach is wonderful. The traffic can get a little much. We did the move in stages, moved to NYC first, drove a uhal from NB. Then moved to the Bay Area in 2015
i was taught in school..that our city of Saint John could be concidered the largest city in Canada..just by sheer land size..but obviously much smaller by human population..just a lil tidbit
You inspired me to do some research, but it looks like it would be 85th. Still big! This is what I found: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_largest_cities_and_towns_in_Canada_by_area
Great video! Interesting to see things in the city you live in from a different perspective. Glad to see the Harbor Passage make it into the video; I helped apply the cranberry colored coating to that, many years ago!
Alot of the wreckage from the fire was actually dumped along the the Bayshore Beach, duck cove too. You can still find bricks scattered across the shore at low tide. This is a great video. I travel the trail to see the old turrets by the break water line all time too you get a great view of partridge island
I’ve grown up in Fredericton about an hour away, Saint John is amazing and always a good time. Good food, good people and always something fun happening. We would take road trips to go skateboarding there , lots of great hills to bomb and also a good skateboard park. Go visit and have and Alpine .
I was just saying this to someone. Another New Brunswick person wrote and said it's terrible. You say it's awesome. I really think it comes down the person :)
You forgot to mention WHY the falls reverse! Saint John is also home to the highest tides in the WORLD. The tides can change and drop so drastically that it causes the tides to swirl and reverse as a result. Also next to the NB Museum you could have gone into the Library which is one of the oldest libraries in Canada.
Also if you like a little drama, Chipman Hill suites was featured on the television show "Hotel Impossible" in an episode called "Breaking Point" in 2014. The lady who owns it is a crazy person with too much money and alot of the staff quit after the episode XD
@@MustDoCanada Yeah, the funniest part is she has a fairly strong hotel. She brought him because she wanted him to say she was right about her struggle with employees and he was like "Uhm, you are a control freak." She makes the staff go out and pick up cigarette butts on the ground that people leave on the sidewalks.
Was just on a cruise and we stopped off at St John. Hands down one of the worst places I've ever been in my life and I've seen lots of bad areas in Europe, Canada and America. Extremely dirty, grubby, people walking around carrying knives and not a lot to see. The malls were empty which was a big indication that the place is obviously run down. The city has obviously put money into the waterfront to cater to the cruises but if you walk up through the town to the top of the hill it's a real eye opener
I'm curious now lol, are you talking about the little foot path near the old reversing fall restaurant that leads out to riverview drive? Some work has been done there and now the trail is all layered with gravel.
@@MustDoCanada a friend of mine showed me, a hidden relic not far from the falls, i found it awesome, you may be interested as well, let me know if you are and we will meet up and guide you there, you can bring along friends too, just so that you feel safe....
@@melissawaugh420 no, i am talking about the stoned pillars, gargoyle style , that was left behind after they destroyed another historic site here in our city.......bring some friends we can meet near the falls restaurant, and show you the area, the stones are too heavy to carry back, but they are an incredible history to our city......let me know when you are available, i was quite overwhelmed, maybe a bit more than others but I truly find them beautiful
@@leeeatmon5176 i am coming to St John in this Sep! As an international student i am looking to make some new friends! Would you like to connect? Thanks
One thing about Point Pleasant Park in Halifax. You can never drive through it and there's enough room for a car to drive all the way through it. It's just really hazardous to all the people who walking around so don't bother driving. It's just the same as every Nature Park, but can't drive threw haligax parks... only everyb other park
Oldest Incorporated, Someone in Tourism New Brunswick deserves a bonus. What a gimmick Saint John isn't even one of the 10 oldest cities in Canada incorporation technicality is a brilliant tourist hook. St. Johns NFLD is almost 300 years older then Saint John.
As someone who lives in northern new brunswick we are told that Saint john isn't worth visiting or living there. Right now it's one of the cheapest places to live in our province because with covid-19 most tourism area espically one of the best musems in new brunswick closed down. The malls are pretty empty compared to moncton and from people I know who lived there for university and stuff they said it was mentally draining place to live. I personally haven't been since I was like 8 but my moms dad lives there and even he doesn't reccomded it and he's lived there for over 30 years. Was surpised to see a video full of postitives lol
I find there's always people who say that about where they live. There's people in Calgary who say its boring, and yet, it's often ranked 1st or 2nd best place to live in the country. Top 10 in the world. Local Winnipegers complain about it and we lived there for a summer and loved it.
I grew up near Saint John and then later in SJ. We moved to Toronto and then to Southern NB and I have to say Saint John is a terrific place to visit. There are lots of things to do/see, especially uptown and in the more historic areas. Yes, it’s a shame the museum is having some trouble with the building and funding but it isn’t the only thing to do or see. I still work in SJ and having spoken to (and see regularly) the Cruise Ship tourists in awe of the old city helps me appreciate what I take for granted. I’ve even had some tourists tell me it’s their favourite destination and plan their cruises on whether it stops in SJ and if it doesn’t they don’t book it. So, in conclusion, I would discredit SJ for being hit hard by Covid but commend their efforts to revitalize the city, specifically the Uptown area, and encouraging tourism.
Love your videos! Our own country has so many places to see & do. 👍😊👏🇨🇦😍 I would have to agree with Karla…I don’t like those pesky mosquitoes either. 😳🦟😕😱 Thank you for sharing this video with us. 👍😊👏
cold with no shortage of snow..we can get bad windchills here and ive seen snow storms that have dumped over 40 inches of snow..a few yrs bk we had 3 such storms in 1 week and for the 1st ever a State Of Emergency was declared..that was a bad year..when walking through king square uptown..the snow reached past our heads..only snow cleared was on the walking paths..so yea..we get sum nasty weather here sometimes
Reversing Falls is so named as we have the highesst tides in the world here in Saint John. When the tide is high, it actually pushes back up into the river, thus "reversing" the natural flow of the water. There are not actually any falls under the water. Just rocks. The power and volume of the tide, pushing against the river flow and rocks, creates the whirlpools and white water that you see :)
That's what we thought too, but how we said it is how it's described in all the brochures they hand out at the tourism centre. It's sort of mentioned here too: skywalksaintjohn.com/reversing-falls-rapids-natural-wonder/
