Impressed with JJ-people say you can’t take little kids sightseeing, but you’re proving them wrong! Of course Hensley was great as usual. You’re doing a great job, Mom and Dad!
I just saw a recent video on a castle. It's called Solomon's Castle and it's south of Bradenton. Since Florida isn't that wide it wouldn't be far for you if you go south at all. My son and daughter-in-law lived in Bradenton years ago and if we would've known it was there we definitely would have visited it. The kids would love it and I'm sure you both would love it too. This was one man's dream and he built it with his own two hands. He's a woodcrafter and has all sorts of hobbies that he has on display. They have a restaurant there, a pirate ship he designed and built and just all kinds of things to see. It was originally built on a swamp. I guess it isn't on the main road but back a long lane on the property. It just looks like a really neat place to visit off the beaten path.
I visited in October for the first time, it was a wonderful day. Started with putt-putt, visited LaLeche shrine think place first Catholic mass, went to cathedral and they were having Eucharist adoration. Went by fountain of youth and lighthouse. Tried go grilled cheese shop they were remodeling. Headed out with drive on beach in light rain, all magical
Lived in St Augustine for 5 years and my son still lives there. It’s really grown a lot, but the food choices now are incredible. It’s gotten too expensive to live there (I stay with my son when I visit) but I truly enjoy visiting when I can. Love seeing Hensley and JJ getting a chance to see all the fun stuff. Love seeing you two enjoying yourselves too!
I live here and commend you on having done your homework. Thank you for the enthusiasm and love you conveyed to your viewers about this city we all love. Enjoy your stay and come back soon!
Never been there BUT now definately on our Bucket list!!! Kids have gotten so BIG!!! It reminds me of our kids when they were those ages, now they have they're own kids (Family)... LOVES/HUGS to ALL

National Park pass is great. My bride ( of 34 yrs. ) and yes she is still and will always be called my bride got a lifetime pass. We went on a month long road trip this past Oct. around the east coast and has already paid for itself. Last stop we did was Shenandoah Valley. Had our pass hanging on the mirror and the rangers told us to get in center line where nobody was at and don't stop just drive strait thru. Entry cost was $ 30.00 dollars for everybody else. We would have been in line for at least 20 minutes otherwise. Beautiful drive even if you have to pay. Lifetime pass for 62 or older, otherwise plan your trip to see if it is cost effective for you for the yearly pass of $80.00. But it can be a big time saver at the park, some lines can get very long.
@LessJunk,More Journey so a cool fact from a Native Floridian is at my elementary school we did a field trip to St Augustine and spent a whole day there when we were in 4th grade in 2006
As a resident of St Johns county, St Augustine is my favorite place. That is not the original Bridge of Lions. It was recently expanded and redone. The old one was two lanes and very old. I highly recommend the lights for the holidays. You guys are so close to me!!! Enjoy your stay.
St. Augustine is my favorite place and I live a little over an hour away. They used to have a movie in the fort all about St. Augustine that was so cool. Have fun.
St. Augustine seems to be a nice place. Lots of things to see and a light house to climb. Nice that you girls climbed the lighthouse and the boys did a father and son thing. Glad you had great weather. Hope you have a great night and week and weekend and see you soon!
Looks like a great place to go and roam around for a few days. We love casually exploring through history. I feel the same way about walking in places where there is so much history like on the streets.
The beach along Ormond Beach just to the North of St. Augustine, has free parking lots (very small and be careful to get a space easier in and out as the lot can be narrow and longish). Good clean free beach.
Thinking about you guys for the last two days I was very charmed to know that you guys are up there enjoying yourself I am working my butt off down here in my husband lawyers office! Smile! It’s just good to know that you’re in the FLA. I like how you filmed that Lighthouse thing but I was more for the reality check of this was what it really really really like.it was not easy and I was very out of shape dotand I was in my early 50s late 40s when I did it I’m in my late 50s now.
We love St Augustine! We go every year in December and always stay at the KOA in South St Augustine. We've actually stayed in the same site for the last three years! We were there the second week of December this year. Love old town during Christmas!!
I grew up in Jacksonville and my grandparents lived on Anastasia Island just a couple of blocks from the end of the Bridge of Lions. We loved visiting the fort and all the things to see there.
Wife and I love this place and have been there many times. As a matter of fact, this past weekend we were talking about going again. I guess y’all made our mind up!
On our way to St. Augustine in two weeks. We will be spending 4 months there in our rv close to our daughter and her family. We've been going there since 2007, always enjoy Old St. Augustine. We still find new things when we visit. Enjoyed you video. Safe travels.
I (Kelley) went when I was a kid the thing I remember there was a pace that had an indoor pool at one time in the 1900s that just stuck out in my mind. I would love to go back.
Okay . . the Pirate jokes put me over the edge! Love this video, as much for your telling the story of your visit as your observations of St. Augustine. St. Augustine is one of my most favorite cities in the USA, and there are SO many things to do in the city, throughout the year, that no matter when my out-of-state family members decide to visit, I end up dragging them up to St. Augustine for a day or two. Thank you all for sharing your Journey.
I was just there! We saw Castillo de San Marcos and the alligator zoo. (I wanted to go to the pirate museum but I was outvoted.) I definitely want to go again for longer.
We did a quick 2 night stop in St Augustine on our way home from Key West. It wasn't enough time to do it justice, its such a beautiful city! We'll be back someday. What kind of socks does a pirate wear? Arrrrgyle 😄 What is a pirate's favorite letter? The "C"
You need to check out Catherine B Hannah Park about 30miles from this location, You should also check out Fort clinch in Fernandina Beach about an 45 min ride north of Saint Augustine, it has a panoramic view of the ocean from Fort Clinch which is pretty spectacular for along with nice camp grounds, there’s also Little Talbot Island Campground on the ocean just before you get to Fernandina
Kathryn Abbey Hannah Park and Campground. Agree that it is a nice place to camp and a great base of operation to explore NE Florida as far south as St. Augustine.
Hope to see you guys at the Tampa RV show. Love how your raising your kids through the history of the beautiful country we are lucky enough to call home!
We love st Augustine. Our daughter had her month long internship there last summer. Poor thing ! We had taken her there at about age 9. She loved St, Augustine so much that I caught her house hunter after we returned to Tennessee. She said can’t we all just move there, you can get jobs there. Lol. Now it look as if our long standing job about living at the villages is coming true. This summer we will be hunting for a home in that area. Not giving up on Tennessee just getting something to stay in more often and rent out as an air B&B when we are not staying in it. Just a small home will do. A back yard for the dogs and a pool. But will to even do an above ground like we have in Tennessee. And enough space to gather with our kids Just depends on how things go. Enjoy St Augustine, I wish I was there right now. Definitely going back soon. God bless! Leslye ps: my health is so much better. Turns out I’m allergic to gluten. I’m 6 weeks gluten free and feeling great !
There is also a great paid parking structure near the free museum. Also don’t miss trying Kilwins ice cream on the main tourist street. Finally, there is a great Greek restaurant with baklava cake that is fantastic. Lots to do in St Augustin. We visit every time we are in the area.
Would love to visit there sometime. We are on the west coast and go camp at Fort Stevens, huge campground and fort. Located in Warrington Or. Just a few miles from Astoria Or.
One of our favs too but it's almost gotten too popular. Large crowds year round. spent last Nov and Dec there. Also pretty sure I know a spot that would have been open just across the Bridge of Lion's. Forgive me for not sharing it publicly, but I like having that one in my holster. Happy to share privately if like though.
I hope you got to spend some time in Flagler Beach. I lived in that sleepy little beach town from 2016 to 2018 and loved it. Going for a quick visit after the Tampa RV Show.
I love living in St. Augustine. Try Washington Oaks Park which is about half way between Flagler and St. Augustine on the west side of A1A. It has easy hiking, a terrific garden and great views of the Inter-coastal Waterway. Also, Beachcombers at the end of A Street in St. Augustine Beach. The kids can play in the sand while you wait on lunch or dinner and then take a walk on the beach. Fiesta Falls Mini Golf and Coneheads Ice Cream are nearby on A1A Beach Boulevard. Just watch out for the cops near the Publix on the south end. The 30 MPH limit is pretty strictly enforced.
So cool you all went there my 5th great grandma was married in Chapel in the fort to one of the fort soldier's, and we had land there but the fire from sir Francis Drake he burned down all county bldg and the legal rolls of prominent people and land...so enjoy my city...lol, just a little history.
Very cool trip! We will definitely have to add it to our list of places to visit. :D Also, we've followed you guys for years! You've been such an inspiration to us. We'll definitely be joining Team Journey!
@@LessJunkMoreJourney most youtuber are always showing the traveling part or the setup, or the adventure, very few youtuber show them winding down and cooking supper as a family i just thought it would be a great video for yall to do
About seven or eight years ago they built a new temporary bridge of Lions beside the original bridge of Lions then they tore down the original bridge of Lions and just left the Lions and then built the new bridge and then tore down the temporary bridge
While you are in Florida take time out to take the kids out on a speed type boat! The kids would get a thrill out of watching dolphins race alongside! It is an amazing sight if you can!
