Just got back from an eight day delightful and rejuvenating trip with my family to the Island of Hawai'i. Thanks to your awesome itinerary, we comfortably did the North Kohala, Kohala Coast, and South Kona Beaches & Coffee days (even mentioned to Hala Tree Coffee how we found out about them and they were thrilled). Thanks again for the AMAZING recommendations. The value you added to our trip was really great. Two Step snorkeling was incredible, and we also found Honoka'ope Bay (Beach 49 off the very rugged Fishermen’s Trail) and Waialea Beach (which competes with Hideaways Beach on Kaua’i for coolest tucked away beach I’ve seen) to be a close second and third for most fun we had snorkeling. Can't wait to try out another island using your advice again!
Thanks so much Kyle! Glad to hear your vacation went so well. Well done on finding some new places too and thanks for keeping us in mind for your next island!
Two-Step is an absolute, no argument, can't-miss destination if you're on the Big Island and want to go snorkeling. We made time for it after you guys recommended it in a previous video last year, and we're very grateful. We've been to (and enjoyed) Capt Cook's, Molokini Crater, Turtle Town, and other snorkel spots in Hawaii, but nothing compares to our morning at Two-Step. In addition to the massive schools of colorful fish, we saw a moray eel, convict fish, turtles, sandpipers in the tide polls, an enormous eagle ray (there's a short video of it on my channel,) and an octopus! It was like being inside a giant saltwater aquarium. Thanks again for recommending it.
Awesome video! Thank you for the very informative video, I'm going to show this to our family group that is going to the BI next month for 8 days. Can't Wait!! Mahalo.
My family recently returned home from our Hawaii vacation. I watched many of your videos. They were all so helpful. Our favorite activities were all on the Big Island- Kilauea, manta ray night snorkeling, Two Steps, and The National Historical Monument. We stayed at the Outrigger and it was amazing. Thanks for all the great tips.
The Big Island looks beautiful. Hope to visit sometime. Henry is getting so big and Edith is so cute. Glad grandparents are able to visit and help out. Hi from Canada
There is a lot to see and varied terrain just on the Kona Coast. It is hard to capture in just one day but we tried to show a lot. Sounds like you have another trip to plan!
Makes me smile people traveling out here to enjoy my home state. This video got me missing home, just wish it wasn’t so expensive out there but it is what it is.
Thanks for mentioning Ola this time around! It's so awesome. Kaloko Fishpond and the Pu'ukohola Heiau are also worth seeing on the west side regarding the free national parks. The fishpond beach is awesome for easy access and less crowds. If anyone is doing the 1871 trail in the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau national park, make sure you have the correct hiking shoes. The rock paths there and some near Kaloko fish pond are rough. If anyone is also daring, hear there's a cool butcher shop in Waimea besides Big Island Brewhaus close enough to the Heiau.
Perfect timing! Watching this from the Tuk Tuk Food Truck in Volcano (which we found thanks to your earlier video) - on our way to Kona tonight for the rest of the week!
Three years ago on our last trip to Maui we flew over to the Big Island for the day into Hilo and we had reserved a helicopter tour of the volcano then landing at a coffee plantation for a tour but Mother Nature made it rain so we drove by close to the volcano then drove to one of the coffee plantations for our own tour I don’t remember the plantation name now but it had great coffee and very informative tour. Great video.
You do a lot of videos on Maui but I am so happy to see one on the big island. The family and I are choosing to visit Kona next year. Love your channel, always hit like and share!
More Big Island videos coming out from our March trip. See our Big Island playlist for all the action. We love our visits there for all the stuff to do and space to roam. Have a great trip to Kona and thanks for sharing!
I like that you said the mineral based sunscreen is what they believe for now that works for the reef. There’s too many people out there making absolutes and then finding out it changes.
Do you ever snorkel with contacts Jordan? Just wondering if it works as an option over buying a prescription mask. You guys should see if the Get Wet Store would be willing to do a video with you on how to choose snorkel gear. Always nice to see Edith make an appearance in your videos! She is so cute, and always puts a smile on my face. 😊
I snorkeled all the time with contacts as this was my first Rx pair. Didn’t know they could make them with my vision. It is nice not having to wear my contacts for the beach all the time now. I like that idea for a video. Thanks for the comment and ideas Mike!
Here's something I wish we'd known about the Big Island, especially the Kona region as you head south: the main roads for travel are all at a decent elevation, so getting to any shoreline spots involves traveling down some very twisty, sometimes steep, always narrow side streets. We'd decided to splurge on a convertible for our time on the island, which ended up being a Mustang. It was a blast to drive on main roads and highways, but navigating those twisty side streets (with zero shoulder) was terrifying. That car's giant front end always felt like it was about to tip right over the side of every curve. I think next time we'll opt for a Jetta.
Hello my name is Prince I have been following your channel for the past 8mos straight and first off THANK YOU SO MUCH for the great insight you give. It's truly amazing and appreciated. Now I need you help 😃.... Please respond when you get a chance. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for watching for so long. Shoot us an email as it is hard to follow up on comment replies. Our email is in our about section and on our website. Mahalo!
I have been seeing ur videos since I planned for Hawaii vacation 9 months back. it is helpful. I am visiting with my family of 4 to Oahu and Kona in 3 weeks for 5 days each island. we don't know swimming, do u recommend good shallow snorkeling places in Oahu and Kona. I also see a nice message in this video, u got second kid😊 . Congrats!!!
Aloha, fully agree with Jessica, Kikaua Point is the best for kids. It is in our Big Island best beaches video. Oahu snorkeling that is shallow is shark's cove and Kuilima. Both on the north shore and good in the summer.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide I will be at Maui vacationing with family on July 29th. I have a one night stay with a deeply discounted rate for Marriott Wailea or the Ritz for you and the fam to use. Message me for info.
Love your videos and they were a huge help in planning our trip last year to Maui and Oahu! We are planning our trip to the Big Island in October and want to rent a Jeep from Big Island Jeep Rental. If you have a referral code we would be happy to use it to help support your channel!
Waipio Valley closed in March. All tours canceled as we were planning on going in March. A civil assessment said it was unsafe but it is turning into a contentious issue on the Hamakua Coast.
I went to Black Rock last week and unfortunately their patio is pretty much closed for good. The sign on the door says, "patio is closed for the unforeseeable future - needs updates" But the pepperoni rolls were so delicious we had them twice!
I'm still gong through all of your content (it's great!), so I may have missed this, but: have you put together any guide videos on things to do on Hawaii with kids? Especially since you have young kids, I think it would be incredibly helpful for a lot of families, and I'm always looking for more tips for when we go with our 4 year old daughter :) Mahalo!
Thanks for watching Rachel. We have this video on Maui: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-287SpX7hyJk.html and this on Oahu: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3cwFBnJMUo8.html Here is our article on Maui for more stuff to do at different ages:thehawaiivacationguide.com/things-to-do-in-maui-with-kids/ We are planning more but also, we don't get a lot of interest on such videos.
We are travelling to Hawaii next month. We are super excited. However, we have noticed in our travel documentation that a couple of our Hotels are going to charge us a cleaning fee locally? Ranging from $200 - $500. We have never heard of or experienced charges like this before anywhere in the world. What do you know about these charges Thanks Steve
I saw you snorkeling deep with your gear. Does your snorkel gear allow you to breathe in the water? I didn't know you could breathe in the water with a common snorkel gear. Is there a special type of gear yo are using?
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thanks for sharing! My husband and I returned from a trip to Maui and thanks to your tips, we had a fantastic time! Keep up the good work:)
I am going to Kailua Kona area next month for a family vacation. I will also be pregnant during the time. What water activities would you suggest that are pregnant friendly. I have seen a lot of boat tours mention “no expecting mothers” which is a bummer.
Aloha, thanks for the question. Even an outrigger canoe tour may not recommend expectant mothers. Call kayak companies or glass bottom boat tours but I'm not sure they will recommend you go either. Perhaps best to enjoy on the beach!
what are your thoughts on traveling to hawaii as of late? been seeing a lot of news articles about people demanding tourists stop coming because it's ruining the economy / contributing to gentrification =/. I really want to go sometime this summer but feel really conflicted.
As is the right thing to do when one travels anywhere, it is important to travel with respect to the people, local culture, and the land. The majority welcome visitors to the island with the aloha spirit. There is a vocal minority that is loud on social media. Travel with kindness, and you will get that here.
hey yall I heard from a few people that there are an abundance of job opportunities on the big island. I plan to relocate to the big island and I'm looking for any type of full time job. What's your view on the the job market over there
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide i'm open to any job that offers full time. I'wanna apply for all type of jobs such as a housekeeper, hotel room attendant, dishwasher, warehouse worker, or a general laborer.. Any of these type of jobs. I've got some money saved up and I'm gonna stay in an Airbnb first. Meanwhile I'be looking for a room in a shared apartment which I think would be easier to find than to find my own apartment, plus it's less expensive that way.
