1 feature no one thinks about is scratches. When a car rolls over for example, the game does a pretty good job of demonstrating body damage but scratching can add so much to the realism.
I think it was already discussed. Scratches would require really and I mean really powerful computers, because of the way beamng is made and it's game engine
@@Ntelio21 just the case of uv mapping and setting up correct parameters for shaders to allow damaged parts or parts that have been involved in specific collisions that force it to overlay the material, multiple textures and uvs to allow different variations. Someone already achieved it for a car mod they did only ever seen it done once tho so far
Love the idea of realistic dirt mud and snow, something like what snowrunner offers, that along with Tyre thermals/wear would bring the game to a whole new level
@@armandoaragon575 honestly it would be worth it though. My PC had it's first watchdog violation bsod the other day from playing on Johnson valley. So im probably gonna have to build a new one.
Still a lot of room for improvement in those games too. Snowrunner feels like youre driving through snow or mud but with some solid ground constantly underneath the tires.
Not going to lie, but warning lights and sounds and tire thermals is quite a good idea for a game, makes it even more realistic. Edit (no not because of the likes on the comment): Sadly, those who wants to see airbags in the game, devs said that they won't add them, and probably there's reasons for that: 1. There's no humans (or testing counterparts) in the game to do it 2. It would've been pointless.
Tbh, I think it's just a matter of time to these features come. Because BeamNG Drive devs love little and realistic details, and they also love to listen their community. My opinion is: If they couldn't put these things we wanted yet, that's because they're trying real hard to make the game work with these features, and soon, update after update, make these changes to the game!
Another thing is battery simulation. If you look in the game files there’s already some code for this that is commentated out. But alternators putting load on the engine, 12V battery discharging, weaker starter cranking etc.. That’s probably one of the easiest things on the list to add
I figured it was on the extended roadmap for "some day". You see signs of it in the Wendover. A battery warning light and the voltage being lower when the engine is stopped. That's about it though.
I mean, it's not like you would leave the lights on in game for hours without noticing. And there aren't many things in game that would use a lot of electricity. Maybe if they introduced mild hibrids, but even then, it's kind of a waste of dev resources, at this point, I think. :D
@@cooperp6429 if you invert gravity eventually the car dies because of the low air density and the brakes become ice cold (you can see with the brake thermal app) so it’s definitely not unreasonable to see battery simulations added as their vision is to simulate everything
yeah well I wrote that over a year ago. Seems they have made interiors much more interactive, as well as cool external hydraulic controls and yeah the T-series revamp is great@@braydengamelover1216
Tire thermals are in the works! Devs said in the previous major update changelist, they've been working on it for a while, but cant add it because they encountered some technical difficulties. Should be added in one of the next 2-3 updates.
I would love to see the things you mentioned in the video, but also official multiplayer and racing wheel telemetry support + dynamic track surfaces, for example rubber accumulating on the road when racing, or loose dirt getting thrown off a dirt path when rallying.
@@Mitjiva They could honestly ask the community for help and give them their own thing in the game credits like what tf2 did/does with weapons maps and taunts
Yes, it would be nice to have the things you said, yes, some games have these features like mud physics, but knowing how realistic everything is in Beam, the team wouldn't implement any of these features if they are not ultra realistic. The problem is that the more realistic they are, the more ressource they use. That would mean that lower end PCs and even mid range PCs would struggle to keep decent FPS with these features enabled. Still, technology is evolving pretty fast, and Beam is still in constant development (with major updates), so I have hope for the future!
I think a lot of these small things would made a huge difference to the immersion of beamng, of course each of these have their own difficultly of implementation. I would love to see scratches on cars and street and house lights being functional personally
Developers said in an older beamNG documentation that dirt accumulation would be added eventually. It was in one of the documentations on tips for creating car textures. It was saying more less then that if one creates a layer for dirt and scratches to go light on it so that when they add it later it will not be too excessive. I also would love see deformation. I experimented with normals of tire tracks in mud replacing the skid marks in game. So that they were always on to simulate it. It did not look as good as a parallax shader I seen in other games however. Great video BTW! Deforming terrain is my number one wish list item.
You're absolutely right, especially the interior warning sounds and lights and wipers were always something I wished for. These Sounds and lights should not be too hard to program into the game
2 things I would love to see is more interaction with the world, I understand it's a driving Sim but having houses you can enter or garages you can open and shut would kinda make it fun for role playing like with what me and my friends do, and second is VR headset support, I feel like that is a simple fairly simple request to have a VR camera in the car. Not asking much Just where you can see from the driver seat and look around. It would probably run awful unless you have a powerful pc. But it would be so nice using with the wheel. This game is my favorite game no matter what, and I will always love it.
0:55 I would really like that to be a thing, because that would make you feel like you are in a vehicle and the chime when you open a door would make it perfect like imagine opening the door to a Gavril D Series and hearing the chime you would hear in old trucks
Wreckfest is arcade game, doesn't simulate much to throw volumetric dust in the air and mud all over the car. It'll take some time before we see most of these in BeamNG. The developers already know about all this and this video is pointless.
I would love to see more engine failures. Also if your motor dies it doesn’t just never turn on again another is different sounds for different failures
BeamNG also needs airbags. It would be cool to see the airbags deploy in slow motion. There could also be faulty airbags that have a chance to rip, shoot of the mount, pop out of the side of the steering wheel, or not even deploy. also, we need to be able to shut them off. It would too be amazing if they fill the car with steam as well as deflate.
Adding onto the tire thermals. Tire wear, general wear, graining, blistering, etc. Like you’re racing around a track and you notice your lap times are slowly getting slower, not because you are getting worse, because your tires and not gripping to the ashfault as well as they used too.
BeamNG does have Tire Thermals, but it's not that well flushed out and still is one of the things that's pretty outdated. I remember back in like 2015-2016 we also had tirewear, where as you continue burning the wheels in a burnout the tires would eventually pop, they removed that at some point, probably cause it would cause lag.
What i really wish you didnt mention is slipstream. There is a cargo plane mod, an12, you can load some cars in it but when flying at high speeds theyre still get blown by the wind. However the cars stand on point when handbrake is on. But you cannot walk inside the plane with the walking mode, otherwise you will be blown to the rear.
Terrain that deforms is a big must. It's all good having realistic suspension but when you're driving on sand dunes as hard as granite it has its limits.
They are somewhat rolling out the interactive interior elements on the remasters of some of the cars in the game. I can't remember what the name of it is, but in the update before last a car got refreshed and there was a hood release in the car that had to be triggered for the hood to come up.
Absolutely love how you've showcased everything by using edits! I also 100% agree with everything listed, I hope one day the devs are able to implement them all :D
Better interior sounds would be great, engines don't sound powerful at all as they do in real life. But other than that all the other features are good too, good video!
I feel like for the next update they should focus on overhauling the sounds, textures, environments, particles, etc. The vehicles have come a long way but everything else has not and is severely lacking. Half the maps look like they are from a 2010 game
To be fair, the interior sounds have gotten a lot better with the last update since you can finally tell from where they come and the targas arent like coupes anymore…
I want to see a ambient temperature slider, I know you used to be able to open the editor and do it in there but a simple slider to adjust it in the environment menu, it is already simulated in the game
paint scratches and stuff is like top 1 thing i want to be added now, as cmon now. A full damaged car, that looks almost like it got recked by a train, without any scratches? ahh
Adding to these, I really think most cars in the game should be weaker because some are just unrealistically tough. I've also noticed braking distances are way too long compared to real life. I never get like a 42m distance braking from 120 km/h (which is possible as demonstrated by some carwow videos) with normal or sporty tires.
agreed but one thing that i would love is realistic water physics like when driving a car in water it slowly start sinking and not in like 5 seconds...
I think another great thing would be if a car is cold then when you start it, it takes a bit for the engine to idle down. It’s just always it starts and goes down around 1000 rpm.
Interactive interiors and dirt and alot of more realistic stuff in this game. My suggestions would be to have some cars from the 1920s and 1930s and 1940s such as a Ford Model A like car and a race car and many more and even a Corvette C1 inspired car. Some new modding tools and new tutorials for beginners like having a cube on wheels as a template and more. Radios like car radios like you add your own music and they work realistically like real life in this game. Burnside Special and Autobello Piccolina and Gavril Barstow and Bruckell Moonhawk remaster. That's my suggestions for this game.
Probably the only reason a lot of these things haven't already been added, is because the game's base physics engine is actually pretty old. The first video they made showing their physics engine (CryEngine3 at the time) was released 10 years ago. Obviously they've made changes since then, however it's still based around that. Then also, all these things would add more physics processing to an already physics-based game, which will add even more load onto the CPU when it's already gonna be under pretty heavy load from just the vehicles. This doesn't pose a problem to higher end or more modern systems. However, anybody running on an older or more entry-level system, could experience a lot more lag and freezing. The simple solution that everybody already says is just "make it something you can change in settings". Every game developer I've ever talked to (not many but I've talked to a few) have said it isn't that simple. None have ever really gone into detail, but they've all stated that it just isn't as simple as connecting the new feature to an in-game switch.
there are allready interactive interiors(with every new car they added they also made more interactions possible). in my opinion we need realistic rain and wipers. and muddy cars(getting dusty and dirty like you mentioned in the video). i guess terraforming like snowrunner is too much to ask. but slightly better effects in mud should be made! i would also like to see an official snow map with ice roads and mountains with deep snow. at least we know that the devs are working hard on the game. and what we see till now is more or less mindblowing. even more if you think about that the game only costs 25.-
I would love to see city lights on streets when youre playing in night time for example in dockyards, its kinda weird that the city is all dark and the street lamps are not working, in my opinion it would be great to add aswell
Official dummies, scratches, airbags and seatbelts. Damage of body parts in percent or like "the leg was broken" or "the leg was ripped off", "passenger is dead" or something, and overload in G.
We need mud splatter but like the kind that goes everywhere and can dirty up the close by environment and the cars not only sides but a bit on the roof or the physics could even interact with the mudguards and splatter off of them, well there are many things you can do
And also, for me, friction between car body and different terrains. Sometimes car when rolling or when it ends up on roof, it slides on asphalt like on ice :/
The tire physics is a massive overhaul that will come one day. I’d assume it’s a complicated task to do accurately for so many different variations of tires and surfaces.
I can't believe you missed Traffic Editor. Each map would have a lore friendly preset of cars. European cars in Italy Trucks and American cars in Utah City cars, taxis West Coast police cars buses on West Coast. Diversity vehicles would spawn in different regions of the map adding to the immersion and this could be customized Ingame why manually select vehicles you want to see on the road? I think this is a much-needed ingame than mud or realistic engine simulation.
I would think adding the ability to adjust the ambient temp in the environment tab. This would make rain into snow (If rain gets added) and if you tick off pre-heat engine in options, Cold starts and maybe glow plugs for the diesels in that case.
