In today's video I had one of the worst mornings handling cattle in a long time and got a very sore thumb on top of it all. The reseed is struggling so needed some TLC and we said goodbye to Debbie
I remember what it’s like to get attached to the stock, a young calf came to us after he lost his mother and I bottle fed him etc. he was just like a puppy and I couldn’t afford to buy him myself…..RIP Freddie the Friesian . I was so gutted and he was ace
Bless you, that made my toes curl.Your lucky it's not broken or dislocated thank goodness. Hope you will be able to sort a crush soon to keep you safe. If I win the lottery il treat you to one. Cheers, Poth.
Your always brilliant Karen , hope your thumb recovers well . Your an absolute credit to the Farming industry. The land you have improved a 💯 it all looks well cared for . ♥️
Glad to see your thumb wasn't broken I said a few swear words for you I know that hurt. Your cattle look good. Be looking forward to your next video.🐂👍
Karen hope your thumb feels better soon. Looking Beautiful love your smile. Cattle are doing well, always hard letting them go. Have a Gorgeous weekend love from Australia ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Karen, only discovered your channel a week ago, recommended by Adrian of Ifarm Wefarm and I am enjoying your videos. Delighted to see you spreading Tipperary grass (from my home county). Maybe you could grow a crop of hurlers to compete with the Limerick and Clare lads 🤗. I love the way you care for the animals and wish you all the best for the future and take care of yourself, you don't want anything worse than a sore thumb.
Hi Karen, you should be proud of yourself of what you achieved and you put a lot of people to shame. I really hope that you're thumb is ok and I can imagine the pain your in. I have had a few accidents in the past where the pain has been so bad I honestly thought I had lost a finger. Please take care. You heard always looks amazing and it must be hard when the time comes to loose a animal with all the time and love you put in. Great work and great video as always 👍🚜
Hi Karen, good to see you again, you do an amazing job running the farm ,and it is tough, and you put so much emotion in to it.Please, please take care of yourself ❤
Another charming video, Karen! Sorry 'bout the thumb...I've experienced similar mishaps. I'm always amazed you can get grass to grow on ROCKS! I would be very interested to learn how live-weight pricing compares between your steers and cows. Over here (Florida) bulls, young or old aren't worth carrying and are invariably "more trouble than they're worth...." (excepting/unless they have some good bloodlines) BTW, it's not true that Fl. has no rocks....we do have rocks...they're available (in plastic bags...) from most any home-improvement center.....otherwise it's just sand, sand and more sand----many believe the peninsula was formed from the runoff from the rest of the continent after the flood. The only "upside" is that we have a 12-month weeding (and mowing...) season. lol We always enjoy your videos. Put an "Ace" bandage (stretchy, compression wrap) on that hand and try to ignore it for a few days, at least.
Hello , Thankyou , It would be cery hard to get atttached to them then send them to , well . But they have had a good life . I would have to detach . Glad it was a good day . Take care Thankyou for keeping it real . You all do a hard job thats so needed and not appreciated. Hello tobyour Father .
Karen. Have a look at the Clipex range of cattle crushes/panels and handling equipment. If you are ever passing ENNIS , they have a large showroom on The Quin road. I installed one of their basic crushes myself and am delighted with it, in terms of safety working alone, as well as having a secure way to handle cattle for dosing, clipping, weighing, etc. Continued success with your farming journey...
Good job taking out the roots tidy job.lucky you didn't do more damage to your hand these things can happen so easily .am sure they were a few choice words when it happened keep up the good work.👍p.s maybe I shouldn't have added the thumbs up 🙈😁😁
Having just a few weeks ago damaged the thumb I feel your pain but time wil heal. Don't be getting attached to them animals because that's why you breed them & I need my steak...Keep 'er Lit.
Hi Karen, try to take care of yourself while handling cattle, I am a seventy one year old codger with a bloody sore thumb from an injury long ago. Keep up the good work, but be careful please.
Sore dose but came to prevent worse even though it might not seem like that. Sometimes leaving a cow at the top of the crush can help keep the calves more settled. Great looking calves fair play to ye.
We had a downpour here In Connacht all summer. Floods everywhere. Good luck 🍀 with the new seeds that lead to a good Harvest. What do you like in your 🧦 socks are Stockings? as a Christmas ⛄ present? Happy Farming
Good video again, hope your hand get better quickly, just a thought that little patch ,wear you spread grass seed what about spreading some muck about with your little muck machine that you video some time ago ,or muck from a nearby farm hard to grow thing on rocks, but muck maybe cover stones, yes it hard to let go of a animal that you hand fed,As a farm girl we were told not to get attached to the bottle fed lamb or calf, also the chicken,Why because we were told that they are going to end up on the dinner plate, that farm life of any kid’s.
Oh my ... it really schocked me to see your hand between the cow and the bar. I'm so it is "only" the thumb and you did not break the hand. Tip what we sometimes do is grass seed and fertilizer together in the spreader, just mix it. That will spread it a bit better. But I'm sure it will grow, just give it some time because it is already end of the summer it goes a bit slower. Take care and I hope your thumb will go better soon !!
I’m an Ai technician with over 40 years and by FAR o Donnell s in Emily do the best crush. Both human and animal friendly and they make gates to suit your yard for loading and emptying the crush.
Karen can I just tell you a story 🤔 when I was working on farm OMG years ago, when I was young and daft I had a cow a Hereford cow see loved me and she calved a lovely calf, story short, me and my mates whent to a agricultural show and i and friends had to meny 🍻 i came back to farm my friends mother through a bucket of water 💧 over us 😢, i decided that the only best place to stay was with my cow a calf😮 was perfect until manager of the family came around and though the cow had killed me 😊 i was just asleep at the yard at the side of her with her calf, end of the day i could not let her go to slaughter i ending up buying her, with help from who i was working for, he agreed and said he had never witnessed a cow before been so Defensive about a person and a calf this is what I love about farming love and it breaks my heart when you have a lovely cow and you'll have to lose her, I never lost her love I saved all my money I was working at the farm to pay for her still to be there never sent her to slaughter she was my diamond P S.name was Rosie
That's cattle being cattle. They are usually quiet animals, but they loose all sense when they get stressed. Anyone with eyes can see how good you are with cattle. That's why they are so quiet when you walk around in the pastures with them. They trust you. That means everything. But as good as you are, remember, they are still animals. Something else might scare them while you are in with them and start them up. So keep up your easy nature with them, but please be careful. I am not saying this to preach. God knows I've made my share of mistakes. But accidents happen fast, and NOBODY wants to see get hurt. Take care of yourself and have a great day Karen!
Hi young lady like always I love you videos I know you said you don't have nothing on Facebook but to let you know I have seen five videos in the last 2 days on Facebook sorry I am driving downtown fort Worth I have a meeting with a heart specialist today just wanted you to know what was popping up on Facebook
I honestly love it. I cannot for the life of me spread fertilizer in a straight line and the GPS has just stopped the yellow streaks in the field and then me over spreading it on other patches
@@margaretsilles2898 Haha you should go for it. Ya it's very easy in fairness. It's just a piece that goes onto the roof of the tractor and the lead plugs into the tablet and then for the implements you have you just need to set up the width and spreading distance and after that you just drive really
