FACTS??? Verse??? Where to start. First of all - NONE of the show was ever shot INSIDE that mansion. All interior scenes were done on sound stages, which by the way do not even remotely resemble the interior of actual mansion. The mansion grounds were used only for exterior establishing shots. Additionally when the second season ended the contract with the Kirkebey family (the owners of the mansion at that time) cancelled the contract due to the fact the address (750 Bel Air Rd.) had been leaked which resulted in heavy tourist traffic that Mrs. Kirkebey was no longer willing to tolerate. The real fact is that after the second season the exterior of mansion itself never appeared on the show again. Second it was not the "Drysdale" mansion. Drysdale was the banker. The Clampetts were the hillbillies. Thirdly, the reference to the show hitting the top of the "cable T.V." ratings is laughable. "Cable T.V." did not exist in 1963, all television was over the air broadcasting. It is amazing how such videos are posted as if they are some sort of authoritative information when they are far from it.
The movie in 93 suct. The reunion movie which was done earlier was a little better, but because Irene Ryan was dead, they cast Imogene Cocoa as "Granny's maw." She was supposed to be 104. The whole idea was pretty stupid.
@Kevin Longan The "fact" that you thought Jane Hathaway was Mrs Drysdales' secretary. Also, when she ran for rep from PA, it was Buddy Ebsen who spoke out against her, because of their opposing political views.
00:40 - Another video states that only the exterior was shot at the mansion location and the interior rooms were shot on sets, not at the mansion. The interior rooms in the series look totally different than the actual mansion interior rooms.
A fact you ignored was the fact that the Beverly Hillbillies truck wasn't even an actually truck in the TV show!! Those of us who know the show and know cars, will tell you that the Beverly Hillbillies "truck" was actually an Oldsmobile roadster converted into a truck by the show's prop department!! The idea was that they couldn't afford an actual "truck" and their vehicle was actually "rebuilt junk" that started life as an Oldsmobile car that (according to the show) Jethro had built himself for the family to use! Now the strange FACTS about this alone is around the time the Oldsmobile was built as a truck which started life as a 1921 Model 46 Oldsmobile Roadster, OLDSMOBILE WAS a truck manufacturer (in 1921)!! Digging deeper into this bit of information Oldsmobile manufactured its own truck line known as the REO with models including the REO Speed Wagon Chassis that was used to produce fire engines and other heavy equipment use trucks as well (like tractors i.e. tractor/ trailer...or semi trucks) and then became the Diamond REO line of rigs! REO in fact stands for Ransom E. Olds the gentleman who started Oldsmobile and by 1975 stopped producing trucks with the Diamond REO name! even though Mister Ransom E. Olds had retired in 1934! Another very trivial thing to understand is that in the 1920s you could buy kits to convert certain cars into trucks!! Though outside the scope of this video as a topic, Ford sold a kit that converted a simple Model T into a working truck platform for those who wanted and needed a truck instead of a car!! Ford themselves developed the conversion kit for the Model T and even sold different versions of the kit for the needs of the person buying them! In one kit the front tires could be replaced with a set of "skis" that would allow the truck to be used in snow like a snowmobile! And in another version there was a "PTO" (power take off) unit to be able to run a saw mill off the Model T engine!
George Barris found the truck at a sitting shop and they used it as he found it.. It was a 21 olds and was already a truck. It’s located in a museum in Mo. I got to sit in it. Amazing to see.
@@markcadieux3445 I even knew about that. Also there was an attempt by Max Baer jr. ( Jethro ) to use the Beverly Hillbillies as a theme for casinos but that fell through as well. BTW, Max Baer jr is the son of the great Max Baer World Heavy Weight Champion boxer. He was one of the greatest. Max jr is highly educated and holds two Phd's if I remember correctly, but I am rather old and could be confused to some degree. I always liked the show and I took considerable interest in it partly because Donna Douglas was a neighbor when I was young before she made it to Hollywood
You would think in a short 7 minute video, all the facts would be correct. The show ran from '62 thru '71 ( that's not the '50s) . And of course MR Drysdales secretary not MRS !!!
Also the BH wasn't the only one cancelled. In 71 there was what is known as the Rural Purge. All 3 of Paul Hennings shows were cancelled, along with a few others.
Voice of jethrene was dubbed by producer Paul Henning's daughter Linda, whi went on to play rhr youngest Bradley sister on Petticoat Junctioni always found it ironic that Linda was Paul Henning's oldest child but the youngest Bradley daughter.
did you know there a blooper in the show on the cabin location? Yep, In the beginning, episodes you could see the outdoor country. But then when a cabin was set up at the mansion you could see the same outdoor country.
Buddy Ebson was campaigning for Nancy Culp's opposition and he said some pretty mean things against her which hurt their relationship for several years
The narrator says the show "quickly rose to number one on cable television". That's a lie because this show came out in 1962, years before cable TV ever existed! This show was shown on network television originally, not on cable, and it rose to number one on network television. Cable TV did not even exist until the late 1970s and early 1980s, years after this show had gone off the air from network television!
Granny (Irene Ryan) would pass away within ywo hears if the show's cancellation. U was devastated by the News. There will never be another like her..she wasn't the original choice for granny but the woman chosen for the part originally personally recommended hee for the role and Bea Bernadette git her own show instead. It waa Petticoat Junction. She got cancer sometime during the fourth season and appears inky a few times un the fifth before passing away and the ahiw continued without her for two more seasons but it had lost its charm by then.
You forgot about the made-for-TV movies that they did at the show. It will be for OK and they did have one of the original stars. However by the time they came around granny had passed away and Max Baird who played Jethro did not want to do it so they had a different actor for him.
So Incompetent. They never filmed "in the mansion". All interior & pool scenes were shot at the studio. They only filmed front lawn & front exterior door area for a short time.
The person that is speaking on this particular RU-vid video misspoke when this came on in the 60s there was no such thing as cable TV not even sure if the Nelson's ratings were around then
There was indeed cable TV in the 60's, but it was more commonly known as Community Antenna TV. It could be found mostly in areas where over-the-air reception was problematic, because of either distance from major stations or topography such as mountains blocking the signal of major stations. But the narrator of this video was still incorrect when he mentioned BH being a number one hit on cable TV. And yes, Nielsen ratings did exist, and Beverly Hillbillies was indeed a number 1 show for many years.
Feel free to include yourself about things you didn’t know about the Beverly Hillbillies. I would say that you have been sipping granny’s rheumatiz medicine, but with your lack of knowledge about the show, you wouldn’t have a clue as to what I was referring to.
They could NEVER find another person to play "Grannie" the way Irene Ryan did!! The actress who played Jane Hathaway (Nancy Kulp) is irreplaceable as well... You might could find another Jethro, Jed and Mr. Drysdale, but the ladies of this original series CAN NOT be replaced!!
It was MISTER Drysdale not MRS. Drysdale's secretary at the bank.MRS.Drysdale did not work. Get your FACTS RIGHT, FACT VERSE. On almost every one of your "FACTS VERSE" shows, I find at least one really screwed up and totally UNTRUE FACTS. Disappointed in this channel. Maybe you should look into who does your research and research another.
Do you ever give real facts? Ive just at the beginning of this video and you have two things wrong already: they never filmed inside the mansion, only outside, and Miss Jane was Mr. Drysdales secretary, not Mrs Drysdales. Back to the video to see how much elae you have wrong, I'm guessing mist of it.
Well, why shouldn't Buddy Ebsen be a talented writer? In the Golden Age of Hollywood, practically everyone who acted, could also sing and dance as necessary. He was cast as The Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz", but had a bad allergic reaction to the primitive makeup, so he lost that role.
Whoever does the research, copy writing and proofing for these things should all be FIRED. There are misidentified character names and genders all over the place in this video. If you're going to call yourself "Facts Verse", it might be a really good idea to make sure your "facts" are accurate before publishing for crying out loud.
This channel is the fake news of Hollywood. Miss Hathaway was not Mrs. Drysdale’s secretary - she was Mr. Drysdale’s secretary. Next, the real life mansion was only used for a long shot in the intro - never for filming with the cast. This channel is the worst.
Television was so much better before it had to be politically correct. Most garbage on today is not worth the time and money it took to build the show. Gone are the family values shown where parents and elders are respected. There are a few newer shows that slip in, but all seem to desire the modern corruption of today's lack of values eventually.
Get your facts right you probably were not old enough to enjoy the show miss Hathaway was the bankers secretary NOT Mrs Drysdale secretary Your facts are assumptions not facts I personally spoke with buddy Essen some years before his death and your facts are less than true I wish all you bloggers would tell real facts not facts that tradeable for cash
