@felicegreece

@@grosskopf2779 I see. by the way i have to tell you that in any case Americans and English people have no big language barrier here since most of Greeks and especially the younger generation are fluent in english and all the crucial stuff (even the things you buy in the markets) are written both in Greek and in English. Basically, english speaking people have the privilege to speak their language everywhere in the world. We grow up listening to your language all the time. It is everywhere and you feel no strangers anywhere you go. Well, maybe you won't understand greek tv or the conversations between greeks but that is a minor thing, you get my point.

Been dying to move since I lived there for a summer in 2014. So far it’s so been a treacherous journey of learning about visas and working and jobs and how Id be able to 1. Have enough money to fund the move and visa itself. 2. How id be able to get a job that would make me enough money to be able to afford to live there comfortably. 3. I have NO one to talk to about it or chat with all the little details and logistics and the millions of questions that arise here and there. I don’t have family or a SO who lives there to help with visas or citizenship either which seems to be the only option for those few that I know who have made the move. The ever changing laws on immigration and visas also complicate things and the overwhelming amount of money id have to save (while still affording to be able to live here in Atlanta, GA USA) don’t help the process much either. I know that all sounds so negative but the process is just so daunting and intricate. I’ve been dying to move back to the city calling to my heart since I left it!

Don't give up. :) Try to save up money and look for jobs online that offers visa sponsorship. You also shouldn't forget that as a US citizen, you are required to pay tax to the US government no matter where you live, but you can research this online for sure. I've never actually realised how daunting this entire process for a non-EU citizen, as an EU citizen I just booked a flight and moved to London, skipping all that visa madness. If you have any question just drop a reply and I can answer if I'm free.

Like all big International cities London has it's downside and well as it's amazing places. Be aware that if you are moving there and want a good lifestyle enjoying the unrivaled facilities you will need plenty of money, it's not a cheap city. There is so much to London beyond the obvious tourist hot spots you can spend literally years and years getting to know and enjoy the best it has to offer and that's one of it's greatest attractions.

Living in London can get a bit lonely if you don't have a family or partner here because no one talks to you and asks you how your day is, no one cares about you. You go to a coffee shop the only thing the barista will say to you is "That's £2.50". You see your friends once or twice a week and that's maybe the only "social" interaction you get outside work.

If you want to live in a beautiful English city try Cambridge, it's not cheap but it's cheaper than London, full of beautiful buildings and parks, plenty of museums, there are botanical gardens, cuisine from around the world, there are churches, at least one mosque and a synagogue, there are art galleries, cinemas, theatre, concerts both classical and popular, and if you want something specific to London, its only half an hour away by train.

I am moving to London...relativly soon-ish... And the one thing I can never figure out when going to other countries is how to find a doctor to go to when you're not a citizen, even if you live there. (I'm norwegian. Pretty sure I can move anywhere in europe without a visum or anything.) In norway everyone has to registrer for your own doctor, and you can't really use anyone but that one doctor...unless you change who that is. (And it's usually pretty cheap with anything health care related and a max limit per year. But I've heard england has free health care, so I guess that won't be a problem.) But how does London work there? And what's the emergency numbers? Also... How are the standards for safety on things in London? (I'm from a country in which one tiny breach of an immencly strict health code gets resturants shut down, and if you go to a plastic surgeon it is always 100% safe, because higher education is mandatory, and, again, any form of misshaps or misstreatments gets people fired and usually also the whole damned place shut down. Which makes every other country seem scary, because these misshaps actually HAPPENS there. At ALL.)

I am coming to London in the next month and I am kind of afraid because others are saying its a very racial place because of the color of my skin, they say it's to expensive to live, I won't be able to get a work or do classes,nothing good I hearing about it . But honestly i have been looking at your videos and another RU-vidr videos and it seems to me to be a wonderful place. Could you give me your feedback on it
@loveandlondon

Where are you hearing that? London is an open and diverse city. You’ll be fine 👍🏻
@DomRivers67
@DomRivers67 4 года назад
I hope you came, and I honestly wouldn't worry about skin colour or race, frankly you'd have to be a green and pink Martian to even stand out, and even then, us British would find it a bit rude to point it out. Nearly every culture in the world has a community in London, and, by and large, everyone rubs along just fine.

London is not for everyone. I was born and raised in the UK and lived in London several years before i moved to the US. You cannot just move from the US to the UK unless you are sponsored by an employer or you get married to a UK citizen. Flats are very expensive close to central London which is why hundreds of thousands commute by train every day to work. You don’t need a car, as the busses and subway (tube) can take you anywhere in the city. We don’t have any natural disasters (except flooding) like many other countries and even then its not usually in London.

London is way way to expensive and the restaurants are tpp expensive. I hated the “no dryers” in flats. It was too cold there for me because their heating sucks. Give me usa any day- rent and food is way cheaper in usa. Ive been in london when it was way too hot. Yeh london is very diverse. Nhs is amazing. He tube is amazing. Your episodes are good.

I loved London's heaters! The pipe things work so well. Is it London thing or whole UK's?
@jas88cam
@jas88cam 6 лет назад
Rachel and Nick radiators? They’re common throughout the UK, though a few newer places have underfloor heating instead (similar idea, but hidden and cheaper to run).
@jas88cam
@jas88cam 6 лет назад
TheRenaissanceman65 Those storage heaters can still be pricey to run compared to gas though - Eco 7 is half price electricity, but gas is a third of the price of regular electricity, so still cheaper. My grandfather has storage heaters, and pays a fortune in electricity - every UK home I’ve lived in has had gas or oil heating. (In TX we had a heat pump, air conditioning/heating in one, which is much cheaper to heat the house with than direct electric heating- those are just starting to catch on in the UK too.)

Hah , the tube will always give me memory. When I first got on the tube a guy got on sat down by the window. All was quiet, then YEEEECCHHHHHHH, the guy threw up all on the window and its edge, boy did it stink. Of course everyone in the car moved away. Hahahaha, the guy even put his hand over his eyes to show some dignity(I guess).
