Excellent video as always. I do read via Kindle, but audiobooks have become my go to. As you said Derek, you can do other things and keep reading. One adaptation I’ve made is with coloring. I enjoyed the coloring books for adults, but can’t see them well enough anymore. However, I CAN use a coloring app on my iPad. It gives me the ability to zoom in close enough to color the page. I usually listen to a book while coloring so it’s the best of both. 😊

I absolutely love that quote; people would be surprised how much wisdom the Rocky series has. I'm a HUGE fan myself! 👍

Thinking about when someone told me I couldn't have vision problems because I wasn't wearing the correct dark glasses. Or when my family found out I was losing my sight my son-in-law looked over to my daughter and said I suppose this means we will have to take care of her now. Right in front of me like I couldnt hear anymore either. My response was OH Hell NO!

Being born Legally blind (20/200) I use audiobooks, my latest audiobooks is Harry Potter, (I had Harry Potter read to me as a teenager but now I use audiobooks). I'm a part of a lot of fandoms, and once I tell them I'm legally blind, they don't mind, they welcome me in with open arms and wide ears. I also draw with the aid of magnification on my digital drawing program titled "audio desk sketchbook" I sadly don't work because of being 20/200 in my right and totally blind in my left, but I have found accessible ways to geek out with my sighted nerd friends, alot of them are impressed by how I do it. I even edit my own videos with magnification I use Microsoft Clipchamp which is a high end, yet free, video editor. Editing takes me longer than the average content creator but I manage. I'm now on the third book of Harry Potter titled "the Prisoner of Azkaban" and starting to enjoy the stories.

Hi April and Daniel, I do wear sun/safety glasses. As the bright sunlight does hurt my sensitive peepers, :). I find working as a volunteer at our local softball park emotionally rewarding, not getting paid. Funny story, about going about field maintenance duties. These tasks Involve my operating a tractor, dragging the infield, etc. A concerned individual knowing of my legally blind status felt it necessary for them to contact the complex superintendent about their concerns about a blind man using the tractor. As a legally blind person, I find myself explaining my willingness to overcome my low vision challenges. All the while, concerned about how normal-sided individuals will interpret my hardheaded determination. Any suggestions? Be well, and stay safe, I do enjoy your insights.

Who can live on a fast food salary? One has to be wealthy to be vision impaired or blind. Maybe one living in a group home. I ride paratransit to work. Most of the passengers work at the Lighthouse. They start paying at $8 an hour. One 74 year-old man who is married lives in an upper middle-class neighborhood and works to pay for a maid and special eye glasses. Its sad that he has an MBA and is assebling pens and markers. Im usually on the bus for an hour and 1/2 to two and half hours one way to work. Everyone is exhausted. Its a difficult transition for me as I was an adrilian junkie. I went kayaking at least once a month and often went to the coast. Ive lost most of my friends and what few relatives do not get it. I cant teach fulltime and dont have the stamina. In addition, students and admin gave me a hard time. I was administering a state practice test and I had a administrator. Ask why I had to use a magnifying glass and get a different pair of glasses. I often have students and other teachers ask her I’m looking at when I’m talking to them, I’m amazed that special ed teachers would act like that, I’ve also been made fun of for riding paratransit, the short bus! I’ve gotten where I do wear the uniform, as I’ve had a couple cuss me out at the hospital for turning into them. I’ve also asked where the emergency room was when I was on an elevator and a nurse responded. I don’t know and walked off. I should have learned Spanish, and I that would have been a good back up plan. Thanks for the rant.
