Wow a Zelda II remake done in the gritty hardcore combat style of Dark Souls would truly be incredible.

I just played and completed it for the first time last month. I would say it's not nostalgia talking, it's a great game. The only parts that are straight up dated are the last 2 palaces since there are mandatory secrets with the last palace being basically a maze. Since both of those issues are remedied by knowing the game, it only gets better on subsequent playthroughs.

agreed, I look back on this one with rose-tinted glasses as it was my first zelda game, but I played it a year or so ago and loved the playthrough

@@triforcetimes well, Very Best 'relatively' speaking that is in my personal 40+ yrs playing and I'm counting all 8 & 16 bit mind you, I partied hard the snes era so never got enveloped in that link to the past nor links awaking etcs! Thankfully (: lol, I like mindlessly final fantasizing characters stats, monotonous yes but controllable too(: don't have to brain train soo much nor know every nook & cranny & the order in doing it. Lazy brain 🧠 game player here!

Zelda II is one of the best games in the series, it just has the misfortune of being between the original and the game that set a lame formula for the next 15 years (besides Majora's Mask and Link's Awakening)

Dragon Quest was NOT made by Square "back then" but by ENIX they were seperate companies. Therefore Square (then SQUARESOFT) didnt' "return the favour" in Final Fantasy since ... well Final Fantasy back then was the competitor to Dragon quest the difference in music between Zelda Jp and Zelda west -> Zelda Jp was first on Disc system that had a better soundchip
