First, as a native-born Canadian. I 100% agree with you. We love any immigrant to come to Canada. Live, learn, make friends. Just please be respectful of our cultures. Second, I love your accent.
@@ThisisYulia Good morning ma'am How are you doing ma'am I love you Canada and Canadian people I'm Pakistani My name is hafeez ur rahman My 13 years experience Saudi Arabia Riyadh World standard work#experience professional working
I was born and raised in Canada. Regina saskatchewan to be specific. And I think you describe Canada, and the do's and don'ts perfectly. Canada is a wonderful place to live. I welcome anyone coming to Canada. And I thank you for making these videos to help others adjust to Canada as well. 🙂
We don't go to jail in Canada just for saying the wrong thing! There may be certain cases where you could get fired from your job for bullying or harassment, but it would have to be obvious and intentional. Please don't worry that you will come to Canada and end up in jail just for talking about politics! However please do not move here during the pandemic! Seriously for crying out loud, just wait until it is over. You will receive a much better welcome then.
Definitely. I was just going to say that. We do have certain hate speech laws but that's more for speech that incites hatred and violence against a particular group. You won't go to jail for calling someone fat. But ya, it could get you reprimanded or fired.
Agree...I'm a Canadian, born and brought up in Montreal, and NEVER knew we were so hyper-sensitive as to not talk about or do such a long list of things! We`re a cosmopolitan bunch and ferocious yet friendly discussions of politics, for example, can happen anywhere - and no one gets tossed in to prison! We speak in many different languages on tne same subject, and the important thing is to learn French , if not for authentic commmunication, but to show one's courtesy and respect.
I just LOVE your channel! I'm brazilian and I'm still in process to improve my english and you have been helping me very much to practice listening and knowing so much more about Canada!! You're great!!
all your saying is correct. thank you for the post. i did enjoy watching it. I do still feel not sure why people on bus kept saying to me what are you looking at.? so what, i was interested and looking to get more beautiful sceneries as much as i can. and i was like in the bus and watching sceneries passing by , which i feel very inspiring and new to me since i was entirely bred and living in South Korea. ALso all south korean people on board of the bus always look outside of the bus and enjoy sceneries and people in them as all was like leering at people out of the bus. is it unusual for me? I have spent living in Canada for 4 years and an alumni of George brown college arch school. thank you
Lol…the Canadian invitation for wedding, birthday, party, is the major cultural clash. I live my entire life in canada. I still don’t get it and sometimes you just ask very politely “ ok, you invite us to your BbQ, do you want us to bring something?” 9/10 they will say yes , please bring a appetizer or desert. Even dating, the guy might expect the girl to pay 50-50. immigrants usually just hang with their family and it’s normal to pay for the family. It tooks me time to understand they can host dinner or happy hour 2/3 times per week with friends and co-workers. They enjoy spending time to socialize and by offering their house, their backyard deck, or simply organizing a reservation to a restaurant for a group is something you should appreciate even if you have to pay for you meal. So if everyone is paying for their food, they can host or go out more often. But they do invite you over for diner for free food but this really with close friends.
Anyone reading this and is confused. It might help if I tell you a container of yogurt costs $6-$8 dollars. Milk jug- same price. Loaf of bread- $6. The cheapest bottle of wine swill is $20/bottle. So yeah, if we want to socialize often we all pay our own way.
I am a Canadian, but your video was in my recommendations. You're hilarious - I loved the Russian reenactments! Interesting points too. Canadians can be spontaneous, light and quick to warm to others quickly, BUT... as your noting in your videos we all know the norms, expected behaviours and etiquette. Keep up the excellent work.
another small note about staring, depending on the person (and it is still rude to stare), if you star at them and they get upset at you, and if you speak with a Russian sound or an irish sound, you might end up friends.
Hi Yulia this is william. Thank you for all your support because by doing all this i really have the confidence to be in Canada comfortably once by visa will be out.
@@ThisisYulia ,How are you doing Yulia ? How are you planning to celebrate Christmas and New Year's Eve Yulia.. ? Have you started your Christmas Tree decoration, yet ? In this Holiday season, can i forward you my Cv for a Guest Service, Hotel/Banking position . Thank You Adam
the birthday thing, thats odd. if i have you over for my birthday with several others (of course), I pay for everything. I pay for the food, the booze, everything. no matter what type of party it is. unless you are going to a bush party or a pit party or even an adult party, (which all you buy your own booze, your own pot, your own food, and your own condoms (though adult parties can very depending on hosts), the host always forks out the money.
I just wanted to thank you in advance Yulia for this video even though I don’t have any result yet regarding in my visa but I’m looking forward to get there before January intake 😊 much love from Philippines 🇵🇭
You don't go to jail for saying controversial stuff. People will think you're a jerk, but you won't go to jail unless it's extremely violent, or contains overt threats. You can get fired from your job, however, if that breaks your employer's code of conduct. And even that is on an employer-per-employer basis.
ummmm i am one of thoughs "first nations" men, I find it more rude if some one calls me first nations. I am an indian, i am native, i am JOEY!! thee dork down the road! eskimos are ok being called eskimos, just not all people in the artic are eskimos. they are also inuit.
Good video ! You're 100 % correct. There are some things which mightnot be considered bad in my country but they might be considered bad in Canada. We have to follow the rules and regulations and proof ourselves to be good citizens if we want to permanently settle over there.
Hello Yulia.Im new to your channel. I'm Judy from Philippines and I moving to Quebec to work and I'm thankful for your videos that help me have an ideas .I'm excited to move there hope we get a chance to meet😊
Hi yulia. Thank you very much for your great information. I'm trying to be chosen in Express entry program to be able to come to Canada. Meanwhile I'm getting good staff from your page.
I am really interested in Canada and moving in my near future , I love to learn all about it and it's a wonderful country to live 🎉🎉 Secondly your video is awesome and I appreciate it for making
@@akirakhan4790 As a Canadian who has lived in Canada for almost 50 years I am tell you it’s 100% false. You are ridiculous in thinking something like that could be true🙄
This is quite interesting especially the first one. But Canada is also in America. Can you help me understand what could be possible reason for this disassociation? I am just curious and no offense.
Hi, native Canadian. Canada, United States and Mexico are located on the North American continent. Though we share the same continent we are not in America (United States). United States and Canada have similar but distinct cultures. Both countries generally work well together and have many integrated factors but again there are distinct differences on how each country operates. I could list the differences but that would take all day. Very generalised but on the whole Canadians tend to be more community minded where Americans are more individual minded. It shows even in our national animals- Canada’s is the beaver, an industrious close communal animal that just gets on with the task at hand. The USA is the bald eagle- soars high, solo hunter. Hope this helps you understand, sorry if it doesn't.
O.K. I'll be blunt like a HAMMER I'm Canadian the people south of us are Americans which refer's to the North American Continent there's also South America which has the countries like Brazil and Peru. America just never got around to calling themselves something else. That and Canadians are subtle, humble, polite and usually courteous. Americans can be loud and brash and constantly feel the need to tell everyone that they are American at least those of us Canadians who've lived on the boarder have found out. Do we like individual Americans...sure in general Canadians find that kind of behavoir offensive and do not like being compared to that kind of sterotype.
Respected Mam, Thanks a lot for your valueable and informative and advices, i appreciate your efforts to make this Video...... Take Care and Stay Safe....Namaste from Hyderabad - INDIA
