Ok, thinking in English is harder than anything, it makes you think twice and causes u a headache 😂 but it is possible This is the main problem for none native language speakers
Something that worked well for me was to force myself to think in English. Somehow it became easier to stop translating everything. Thanks for the video Lucy ❤️
It’s the best advice! I used to teach Russian and I was always telling my students to stop translating in their heads 😊 I love your channel Lucy! You inspired me to start my own :)
I talk to myself on a daily basis to improve my English. Honestly what I do is just to stand in front of the mirror and pretend to be an english teaching RU-vidr like YOU & start explaining all the lessons I have learnt from your channel. Thank you for being such a good teacher.. Grateful to have you!
Ma'am, one good thing about English with Lucy is, I can understand your speaking. So, I'm learning here a lot. I can not miss even a single video of you. Thank you.
This is the one problem that I'm going through right now. Whenever I try to make sentences or understand a English word my mind automatically try to convert that word in to my mother tongue.. Thank you so much Lucy for coming out with this topic to help me out 😊
Hi Lucy, i'm Arabic girl and i used to speak very well French ( i live in France) now that I'm learning English sometimes i lost my words in French and i use English word.. I mean it's crazy 🤪 but so happy cause I learned a lot from you so thank you so much.. love you
Guys I can confirm this really works. I've been talking to my self and thinking in english. And it actually have improved my talking speed, pronouncing and also I've learned to have words from diffrent languages for the thing. Its hard to explain but like I don't translate in my head anymore Its like i just understand what i hear instantly. Xd its really hard to explain, and fun part is that I've done this without knowing it actually improved my english :D
I learnt English with tv shows, and I still learn from the "Frasier Files" cuz the transcripts are filled with descriptions which is my final step towards really mastering this language. What I love about Frasier is the diff types of English, a sitcom: 2 sophisticated psychiatrists; 2 average working americans; and a regular working class british woman. Their choices of words, their diff view of life and ideas led my english where it is today.
One tip 🍎surely works : *while listening to Lucy mam, start repeating her words in the same tone with same body language, you can play the video at low speed if you want so. I've tried. It works. All the best. ✨
Thank you Lucy, I knew you when I was in the level of reading subtitles to guess what you meant. Now, I’m able to understand what you are saying without subtitles ❤️
I've been able to do that for many years now. It started with spending 6 weeks of work training in Devon, buying books and more books, reading in English, watching shows and films in English etc... At some point my brain stopped translation/echoing in German and it was natural. I often think in English, too. Stay safe and well, hugs from a safe distance ❤🇬🇧❤
When I just started to think in English I didn't even notice it. That had been happening for a couple of days and then, I was like '' daaaamn I just thought in English, how the hell did it happened?'' and then I continued to think and talk in English in my head, and it really helped, now there are almost no things that I can't think about:) So you also need to practice a lot and force yourself a little bit;))
Hello, Lucy :) Thanks a lot for your advice :) I always find your lessons really useful. As for the methods, I often use number four and five. I prefer to read newspapers in English/French, speak to myself, watch the tv shows in my target languages etc. Also, sometimes when my parents ask me something, I reply in English/French/Spanish and German :) Because that time, I feel like replying in those languages. Once, one of my English teachers said '' When something comes to your mind, that could be an expression, a proverb, don't block yourself, just spill it out, get it off your chest. No matter there isn't any person around you who can understand that. İt will allow you to have self-confidence while speaking. Another point is that I sometimes have a dream in my target languages :) İt seems that I am getting closer to achieve my target. speak like a native speaker. Thanks a lot once again. Good luck in your new neighbourhood. Have a nice weekend :)
Thank you Lucy for these useful tips. Although sometimes I think in English only it's becoming hard to sustain that habit over time. However, thanks to your handy 5 steps I'm sure it'll possible to accomplish the objective!
Hi lucy! I'm Ivan from Italy! Thanks for this useful videdo! I've tried to surround myself with England's pictures at my home,so that to create a small portion of that astonishing country around me, and as you pointed out in the video, it really works.I went to London last September, where I spent five marvelous days with my family, it was my first time to an English-Speaking country, so that I had the opportunity to use my English! I look forward to your next video! Have a lovely day! Bye!!
Thanks for that. I am an Aussie trying to learn Russian (why? just because I can ))))) .....) and your little video has given me some cool ideas. I have heaps of trouble even putting simple sentences together even after a loooong time trying to learn. Have a great day..... your advice went even further than just for those wanting to learn and speak English
i’ve been working on self conversation, and it works out just fine ending up i get an imagine friend, Joseph! Now, i’m going to next step, emersion, and try to imagine myself a whole neighborhood!

@@EnglishwithLucy The very smile that you give shows the passion you have in what you do. You are admirable and next week I will try to beat you by being first in watching your upload. And be careful with regard to COVID 19 Pandemic
hi Lucy i'm a student in secondary school in Viet Nam. i've watched you since i was in primary school. Thanks to your tips i can speak English better than i did. Thanks you and i love you so much
@@0xativa0 she might be charming and she certainly seems like a nice person. But, like you say, she is cheating her students by relying mostly on her charm and looks alone
Thanks for your amazing videos teaching English. I can really use them when I speak with Customers. Especially with rude Customers 😂 . My English is really improving in a very unique way . ❤️❤️❤️
Haha, for rude customers you need to learn the British art of being "passive-aggressive". It's a way to speak politely but you're actually not being polite. So good for rude customers!
Hi my dearest loveliest cutest mrs lucy, my day was going to think about for you, Stay at home be safe, I love you so much ❤ you are my forever lovely Mrs teacher ❤
Though I know and can converse in English well, this channel is so professional that I need to watch these videos, to improve my fluency to extremely good levels. Lucy, you are a pro.
Lucy, it really is quite amazing that the world seems to be falling apart, but yet you continue to smile and teach people from all different backgrounds and cultures. Thank you for spreading the joy of learning to so many people!
I liked this lesson a lot. You took us back to the basics of learning to think in a language. Which is what children do. Appreciate your work thank you. Oh and I think I was the 4 thousandth comment or something like that. ;)
I agree with you lucy i think those tips are gonna help us out if we want to be fluent in english and regardless of that we would not translation in our heads anymore, so we got to create our own way to learn and speak in english especially also by watching your videos. Stay safe and stay healthy lucy!
I wanna to say thank English with lucy Bacause when i start watching to you i am zero English But now i am not fluencce But really i get you more interesting push me to keep my English learning Thank you lucy✌️✌️✌️
I have been learning English more than 12 years since I was at senior high school. I never get any chance to continue my learning at university until I get the certificate of completion. I was drop out student at that time (about 199os). I never stop learning English in every way. I found English With Lucy as one of the most awesome and incredible resources for me to learn English. I am grateful Lucy. Greetings from Indonesia
I love your teaching because i didn't find any English speaking teacher better than you. As i am hail from Punjab India there are myriads of English centres but according to me nobody can teach better than native speaker. Thanks alot lucy.
I am a guy who had to live in a place with no English speakers. I maintained my English by resorting to soliloquy. My favourite English teacher giving such an advice to your fans is very great. Thanks lot.
Your videos are so very helpful ,Lucy. I have been watching your videos for a while now. I am currently writing my own story in English. And I am 15. English is not my first language. So u help me a lot
Hi Teacher. I appreciated. Good lesson. I have to say that when I started learning English I had some problems how to start a conversation, and most of the time I struggled with the language. It was very difficult at the beginner. When I wanted to talk with someone else, I stuck and I didn’t know how to say and sometimes I got disappointed. Your videos have been helping me a lot, and I have been learning many words that I didn’t know before. Thank you, Teacher, for your time, and help. Your videos are very nice and helped me to talk more confidently in English.
in my opinion, thinking in English is one of the very first steps that every English learner has to reach. And So do I. In fact, I saw 5 steps that you mentioned in this video somewhere and I couldn't agree more. One thing I learn is how I recognize I am able to think in English. Thanks for that.
Watching critical role second campaign(d&d) helped me so much in the process on thinking in English. When I started to listening and not translating, been able to understand the jokes and the story behind, that was a break point on my relationship with the language
5:48 this is what I practice everyday but in my native language. Now I'll do it in English. I love to talk to myself. Some people think that I'm mad but actually its an amazing way to prepare oneself for the next day presentations or any conversation (according to me) I find it really helpful.
Hello, it's good to see you again. Your lessons are very usefool and funny. I am learning English a lot every day. I am not very good, but still practic and it makes me happy. You are a great teacher and watching you is a pleasure.
Immersion works for me, I'm always up to listening to the BBC newsnight channel here on RU-vid as well as channel 4 news and many other US outlets. I've been watching the whole of harry potter films recently on top of reading a lot books about various topics. Hope the situation is still manageable up there in England. Hope to see more of you during these weeks of lockdown, wish you well Lucy ! 😄👋
One day I discovered when I was watching a video on RU-vid that I understand language English without to translate in my head to Arabic then I felt that i achieved something great i was so happy
Thank you very much for teaching english. For me you are mine first best teacher till that time because you teach me various things through your vedios. I wish for you to god that you will always make various learning vedios.😊
