Laura, I’ve recently come across your channel and I’m in awe. Your love for Jesus, and your ability to put his words into practice is inspiring. From one Christian to another, God Bless you and your wonderful family. 💚
May not agree with all your stances, but love your message of hospitality towards others than those in your inner circle! To those that need it most like the different and the lonely! Thanks so much for putting this out there. You’re a sweet and gentle and kind and talented woman. God bless you!!
It's fun to share 'family style' from one plate! Those were The Days... I once invited old friends, their baby and someone left at end of services standing in the back alone for the day. When I told our old friends there's one more, one shamefully said, 'If I knew he was coming, I'd not.' Shocked, and to make a point to that snide, I quickly smarted back, 'If I had known he could make it, I'd not have invited you.' Oh, I wish I'd just let my silence speak for itself! We had an interesting lunch that day. I don't think ANY of us will ever forget. I haven't forgotten, and it's been almost 30yrs. p.s. God's grown me since then. true.
HI Laura, I just ran accross your youtube channel, and found it delightful. Even though we are not of the same faith, I can see the love and kindness in you, and read a little bit more about your community, because of that. Very interesting. Thank you for being a window into a life I don't know anything about. Many blessings to you and everyone in your community.
I'm pretty sure you're the cutest thing on youtube right now ;-) Wish you had your own channel with lots more. Young (and old) could really benefit from seeing a whole new refreshing way of life. Blessings. xo
It's still Sunday here, I love to watch your channel but especially on a Sunday as I can't go to church at the moment. Thankyou for your little reminders of who we are and for being such a ray of sunshine especially during testing times💗
Maybe its not a bad thing to leave things behind, when you move. Things you have don't define you in the end. Seems like they all have food, love, a home and eachothers care. What else do you need? Don't forget that in modern society you're limited too. There are a lot of rules in modern society too.
Cook the meat as a whole piece, and slice after. The meat will be tender & more flavorful. You want rare, or medium rare at worst. Cooking it sliced overcooks it, dries it out, and drives out the flavor. Probably want the cast iron much hotter, and cook the meat a minute or two on each side at most. You might wanna bake the tomatoes with the nachos.
Ok, nachos are like, the most perfect food. Ever. And, it's so hard now to define hospitality in this 2020 pandemic, when we are all supposed to stay away from each other. Struggling with this rrankly
Hi Laura I am really enjoying watching these videos to get an idea of life in the Bruderhof and have sent an email to start the connection. I was surprised to hear you mention serving on Lesvos. I was there from 2016 to 2019 with Eurorelief and served alongside folk from i58. I would love to hear about what the Bruderhof did/do there if you get the time. God bless you and your family
That is so cool! We were working with Save the Children setting up and working in child friendly spaces. I was grateful to be able to do it but it was heart-wrenching to see what the children and families were going through.
This is the first I have heard of Bruderhof.I watched half a dozen of your videos. I am truly interested in more information. Where and how I guess is my question.
We haven't been able to make videos for a while because life's been a bit busy but I'm hoping to start again sometime soon. Thanks for the encouragement! - Laura
Laura, I know you took a vow of poverty. If someone has money before joining the Bruderhof, do they keep it, or do they give away before joining? Your videos are lovely.
Hi Laura, you mention being kind to strangers, the crippled and the lame...what about being kind to animals and not killing animals for food? I’m just curious why kindness stops at animal’s life when we live in times when we have many alternatives to meat.
It's part of the women's dress. Here's an article one of my friends wrote about it that you might be interested in: www.bruderhof.com/en/voices-blog/following-jesus/why-i-love-to-wear-a-head-covering
Well, i think, because being a christian is something else than being vegetarian. Isn't it so, that christians can use all that God created on this earth, but with respect for what they take. So, they don't take more than they need. I saw in the documentary that their animals live a good life too.
