Love the ideals of Christian community, sharing, etc. Lots of positives. The wisdom of kindness and caring for our neighbor , sharing , not being in a race to accumulate, etc...Good stuff.

It sounds very egalitarian. I wonder how subservient the women have to be? I'm also amazed at how unstilted everyone sounds. I guess I expected something more like the Amish. This is such an interesting channel. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing this great, solid advice! The community I'm part of believes in working (we probably need to apply your #2 a bit more 😊) , but we don't have businesses as such, we simply accept whatever people want to give us, and we've never been without (and we absolutely refuse to use credit or generate material debt); in fact we sometimes do money-less experiments where we go out in faith without touching money at all for a period of time. Where God guides, He provides. #4 Essential! #5 Yeah, we want to be participants in God's invisible Kingdom, and hopefully some kind of witness of it without falling into the trap of denominationalism.

Thank you, and keep up the good work! Glad this series is an encouragement to you. It's always great to hear of other communities that are living and working toward the same goal.

Hey Bruderhof, I noticed on your video a few folks shucking corn...I want to share a tip with y'all...this may not be practical when you are preparing for a large group of people, but when cooking 4 or less ears it is a great way to 'clean' and cook the corn. It requires a Microwave, cook 3-4mins for each ear..so if you have 4 in the microwave I'd do like 13mins, leave the leaves on..after the cooking (be careful they will be HOT) cut the large end off, pick up by the silk end and shake out the corn...it comes out with out the silk string..quick and easy! They have videos on youtube you can check it out! Shalom

This was informative. It does sound like the common sense way to do things. To have your core values that every member agrees to but be open to change and development. Although this is also something to be careful of so as not to conform too much to the outside material, earthly world. It must be tricky striking the right balance there, not shutting away from the world but being open to new thoughts, whilst keeping everyone happy.

So what happens if you sell all your possessions, cash everything in and hand it over to Bruderhof, then after a few years you rue the day you joined? Do you get any money back? And what about any grown children who didn't join with you? When you die they don't get their inheritance because Bruderhof has it all. is that how it works? Is the commitment 'all or nothing'? Does anyone feel sorry for the kids who didn't join or left?

You can find answers to some of your questions here: www.bruderhof.com/en/our-faith/foundations/church-order/becoming-a-member If kids don't feel called to join and leave they are supported financially in getting themselves established. Rich

Hi. I love the short sleeve button down shirts I see on many of the women...I love plain shirts!...but I am a man...so wondering if there is a pattern you use that maybe I could tweak for bigger fit..?? Great videos! Peace.

I'm really considering moving to a ICC but don't know how or if that's possible? I know Jesus turned no one away so I would think that would be the case if living strictly by the word of the Lord but if one of the community does something or has issues then the word would say to have compassion and try to understand and me there no matter what like a family should and I'm really looking for a community that does live by the word and after the very rough life I've had and everything I've been through at 44 now I've done every worldly thing a person could do and I've finally learned that that's not what I want or need and even though I've searched for the Lord since I was 12 and going in and out with the Lord I've finally come to be fully willing to live for Jesus and he has really opened my eyes to what's really going on in the world and I've also learned that I can't help any that r lost and when I try it just seems to make them worse and then it causes me to have thoughts I don't want or get upset and say things I don't want to and that's all cause of the attitudes I get and then how I get treated for just saying "Jesus loves you". I'm a very emotional guy and even though I know the Lord protects me, living with people who want the world more than anything else and living in the world where that's the same case I feel like for example like if Jesus was on top of a hill and all I need to do to get to him is walk up the hill but living in the world I've been delt it feels like I'm walking up the hill with a parachute strapped to my back holding me back along with carrying a 5 gallon bucket of water and my shoelaces tied together trying to get to him. I am willing to give up all my belongings and and seel all I have to give to the community and share and stick with same like clothing so there's no fashion competitions or boasting and worship worship worship and work around the community and leave everyone and everything behind like my home and family and cloths and material possessions behind. I know Jesus is coming soon and I really would like to spend the time I have left on this earth serving him in everyway I can without others living with me and around me always letting demonic spirits in my home and always around me. I'm covered in tattoos and have always been into heavy metal music and have had a very rough life which is why I think I've been able to see the things the Lord has recently revealed to me along with my faith in Jesus and I've been homeless years ago and been through homeless shelters which is a small community kind of and not worried about giving and receiving and getting along and I know I'm not perfect and a have so much compassion for others cause that's what Jesus has taught me. I'm wanting to get away from my life here like I described it and I don't care what I have to do to live every minute of everyday for the Lord and worship him in all the ways he wants me to. How do I go about finding a ICC or what I need to do cause I don't have much money and much to sell but have a huge heart and an even bigger desire to give my life completely over to the Lord and know there's alot of listening and giving in rather than taking or receiving in a community and that's what I want the most. I've also had military experience and know about discipline and raised by my grandma and PA so was raised with morals. I've never thought of doing all this before and really need help if anyone loves the Lord and me enough to wanna try and help?

I hope you are okay. They have a website with details on beliefs and 3 zoom classes. Plus there is a lot of books too if desired to understand some of their values. You could always go for a visit or a few before seeing if you would like to stay longer. In the information it says the trial period that it could be ended from either the person interested or the Bruderhof. Reading stories of people who had joined and left and come back again leads me to believe they have compassion and typically want people to stay. Anyway around that time if you decided to stay you would need to wrap up financial matters such as taxes, savings accounts, have debts paid, close credit card accounts etc. All the details I am not sure...can you give your money to relatives, a charity or give it to the Bruderhof? I am not sure. You can always contact them or call with more serious inquiries. I hope you are well.

Thanks so much for continuing to educate about your lovely community! I might suggest a less "scripted" approach, with more spontaneous humor and smiles. You seemed to be reading, and eye rolls and/or looking off camera were not effective in creating the appearance of natural conversation. You are not expected to be actors, but some general topic guidelines to generate heart-felt delivery would be more engaging, in my opinion. Pax et bonum!

If a rich person finds Bruderhof something they want to become a part of can they donate their bank accounts and assets to the Bruderhof that they wish to join? If it was ethnically earned would it be acceptable as a donation to the common coffers?

I have found there is a different level of talking about another person when they are not present. If someone does something that bothers me I need to talk about it to resolve it in myself If what I want or need is the person to stop something then I need to talk to them directly But if what I need is to process the situation and release judgement in so doing then I need to talk about them NOT to them But it can look like gossip and sometimes feel like gossip (the feel is the key that it is) Would I say this to their face? (maybe yes maybe no) SHOULD I say this to their face? (sometimes the answer to both is no and yet I still need to talk about it to process it)

These are good questions. The reason we call conversations with people we have disagreements with 'difficult' is because they are, well, difficult. But it's vital to have those conversations and if we make a practice of it it becomes maybe not easier but at least not excruciating. - Rich
