Strange. I got mine in Van as well, today, for $60! Great little machine. I've already messed around with it and installed the same GPU with a different form-factor. About to install Linux. I'll probably use it as a file server once I swap out the CPU for an i3.

@@lubricatedgoat Cool, let me know how it goes as a file server/NAS. I've set up a couple PC's for the same purpose on my home network in the past. Nice and capable little system! Strange one with the GT 1030 and Windows updates? Never seen that before, just shows win 10 is still beta! Watch those GT 1030's they do a version with DDR 4 ram on-board, which are really nasty!
@HaisteComputerRepair

Yes that was odd. The GT 1030 was released in 2017, so my thought are that it should run seamlessly in Windows 10. But, perhaps it was just my luck. The good thing is that it worked out in the end :)

I did pretty much the same thing with the same model, i5 4570 3.2GHz, 4 core, 4 threads. I bumped the RAM up to 16GB (4x4GB), installed a 512GB SSD (Win 10), and a Nvidia GT 1030 2GB. I also have a separate 240GB SSD with Garuda (Arch Linux) on it for Linux stuff. Runs Mad Max (2015) on medium, Just Cause 2 on max, and L4D2 on max. It's one of three of my rigs.

Excellent, that's good to hear! The i5-4570 is still a solid CPU in my opinion. I have a GT 1030 I am looking to pair with an i5-6500 SFF PC, bringing the combo into the DDR4 RAM arena. I am curious to see what the performance difference will be between the two generations.

Thank you! I would say your case your rules. You could cut a rectangle out of the side panel to provide some passive air flow. That is correct, you would essentially be building a completely different system if you only took the CPU out. Power supply, HD Audio, and USB 3.0 adapters are required if you want to upgrade and/or move to a larger case. Sorry to hear about the loss. In Canada, an M93p board is not too expensive.

@HaisteComputerRepair
@HaisteComputerRepair 2 года назад
@@YeahNoTellTheTruth The typical run of troubleshooting involves all the hardware connected to the motherboard, including the CPU. The manufacturer tests are not always indicative of a problem. If you have more than one RAM stick, try running just one, etc. Look at the CPU and CPU socket to determine if a pin is bent or if something looks off. Try another power supply if possible. Check the voltage reading of the CMOS battery if you can. Swap out the peripherals if you can, in the odd chance your keyboard or mouse cables are providing a surge. It never ends, haha, but it deepens your knowledge of computer hardware if you have the time to commit. In your M58, do you know what CPU you have installed?

@@HaisteComputerRepair Turns out the spare harddrive while attempting to install the installer gave the error "windows cannot be installed to this disk. the disk may fail soon." and so I need to look for another spare hard drive to rule the first hard drive I had isn't an issue. The CPU is OEM and I don't think it has been removed so I doubt the pins were bent or anything from the CPU side, but I'll leave that to the very last of checks if worse case (I agree with you regarding it never ending). The CPU seems to be fine as per bios info. CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHz, I'm sure that's enough for Windows 10. The RAM is what was originally missing when I found the system, so I had 2 MT8JTF25664AZ-1G6M1 spare, but it's 1600MHz, while the OEM's are 1333MHz, would that be an issue?
@HaisteComputerRepair
@HaisteComputerRepair 2 года назад
@@YeahNoTellTheTruth Cool, replacing the HDD is an easy fix. I would recommend getting an SSD. The Core 2 Duo paired with a HDD boot drive and only 4GB DDR3 RAM will only run so well. The SSD will provide a big performance boost and they aren't expensive if you go for a 128GB. I'll ship you one if needed (for a price). Even though your RAM is 1600MHz, it will run at 1333MHz if that is what your board is designed for. I would try to go for at least 8GB if you can.
