Hey Hollie! This was extremely informative and interesting to watch. I'm thinking about doing a season this year but am finding it was difficult to find information or applying for the working Visa? Any advice? or possibly a video on how to apply?
You and your Japan Diary videos have been so helpful and fun to watch! I honestly felt as though i was also on the trip, having fun, partying, seeing new places etc. I almost felt sad the videos had to end since it looked like such a good time. I'm also surprised you had just met those colleagues! There were such good vibes between you all. This honestly gives me so much motivation to keep going and achieve my dream of going to Japan and possibly living there someday.

How did you find the job and was it easy? Would you say its easy for brits to find work? And lastly is there any jobs you recommend trying to get to maximise the amount of time skiing? Thanks!
Japanese ski resorts are crying out for staff and that only increases as they get more popular. I'd say that you wouldn't struggle at all to get a job - particularly in hospitality as an english speaker. A lot of jobs are advertised of Facebook groups so I'd definitely start your search there!
Hi, i am going out to do a ski season myself in Hokkaido this November and am struggling to find any infomation about setting up a bank account and mobile number? could you offer any advice or point me in the right direction? you look like you had the best time!
I'm so sorry, I've only just noticed your comment... I had a bank account set up through the hotel that I worked at while I was out there so they did pretty much everything on out behalf. And rather than getting a Japanese sim card (which was turning out to be a huge faff) I ended up just getting and eSIM instead which was SO quick and simple. It meant that I couldn't use my traditional phone number but have access through whatsapp calls etc on data. I'd defo look into this option if you have a compatible phone!
I believe I touch on this a bit later on but yes! I was able to save enough to travel Japan for a month afterwards and then another week or so in Vietnam without touching my savings
Hi, I have a follow up question about the 40% tax. Was it specific to your job or is it for all jobs across Japan as an expat (like cafe in Tokyo to take your example in comments or teacher assistant) ?
I don't think that the tax percentage is specific to the job that I did - other businesses may deduct the same - but I didn't know any other employer in Niseko that deducted 40%. It was normally 20% income tax only!
Do you know anything about the type of career opportunities available outside of the Ski season? for a working holiday. (if you dont want to do the Ski season)
If you have a Working Holiday Visa, you can apply for any available job in any location in Japan! You could work in a cafe in Tokyo or as a fitness instructor in Osaka (for two random examples haha)
