Great video. Very informative. I've done quite a bit of research and am almost ready to purchase my first car storage lift. I just had a high lift garage door kit installed in preparation. My garage ceiling is high enough for the two cars I want to stack but I do question the 1-2 feet of EXTRA clearance you claim to need just to get the lift to lock high enough. The lock openings on the lift are not a foot apart so at most, it seems like you would need 1-3 inches of extra clearance to get it to latch in a high enough position and that's assuming you're dealing with a very tight space where every millimeter counted.
I think the extra clearance is to account for the height of the platform that the top car will park on plus also the need to raise a bit to be able to release the locks before the platform can come down.
Great video and valuable info for people looking at 4 post lifts. I have an advantage 4 post and love it. I also have liftmaster jack shaft garage door openers, money well spent!
I was using mine all weekend doing some major service on the wife's car. I wouldn't even want to think about what that would have been like without the lift!
Can someone help me please? 1) Can you suggest any proven methods of installing such a lift in a garage that has a slope of at least 4-5 inches? 2) Also, would the lift shift if I don’t bolt it to the ground? (I would rather not anchor it as my concrete slab is only 4 inches thick.)
There's just about 80 inches if you come in dead straight but we have a good amount of room on the other side so we usually come in at a slight angle so it's a bit more comfortable. If I rotated it so the motor was on the other corner it would really open up some room which I'll probably get around to doing one of these days.
Thanks man! It says 207" with ramps. The ramps are 37". So it will be front to back for a car at 170" if you don't want to hang off the front or back a bit.
Thanks..I enjoyed all your insight...I'm looking at a few now...the bridge lift is an expensive option to them but ...I think there handy for the do it yourselfer..thks...oh and nice Challenger
Thanks man! I think two was overkill. One probably would have been fine but I haven't even used them yet. The last time I needed a wheel up to change the speed sensor it was just faster to do it on the ground with a jack. If I did the lift again though I might have gone with the Bendpak due to the hidden cable design and better finish. It's awesome having one though. A game changer for any car work.
I've been looking at several brands...boy there not cheap...but at 64 sure would be nice to stay off the floor...I have an old classic elcomino I like to tear apart and put back together...
Hi, great video! What is the height of your garage ceiling... can you lift your car all the way up or are you limited (8 ft ceiling height) etc.? Thanks
I think it's 10ft. I can't raise it all the way but enough so that I can sit on a stool under the car. I can't fit another car under. Would need another couple of feet for that.
