Its an amazing country to live and work in but like everywhere their are good and bad companies, or in this case schools to work for.

My first job in South Korea was similar to your first job experience. The job looked good, a lot of promises, totally different once I got there. So I quit after I didn’t get paid my working hours the first pay day, and found a new job. It was a bit unnerving, but an interesting experience. Lessons learned. I’m flying to Taiwan in three weeks to start teaching there. Thanks for making the video! Cheers!

Yes every day is a learning curve, it’s great you’re coming to Taiwan. Hit me up when you arrive or if you need any info 👍

Great video, very informative. Is it true you need a batchelors degree? Ive been an artist all my life and taught in Uni without any qualifications, just many yrs of experience. I also taught private classes. Teaching abroad there really does interest me. Im in the UK btw 👍🏻☺️

Thanks for the good info. Have you noticed if there are many part time roles offering an arc or most cram schools prefer you to work full time hours?

Most will prefer you to work full time but it is possible to negotiate part time with arc. The best thing to do is reach out to the schools and ask this. They will most likely bite your hand off as they are so desperate for teachers. There are also agencies that can help you with this. If you like I can pass an agencies details onto you but they will move very quickly and probably have a job for you within 24 hours. Things tend to move very quickly here.

@@KevLaa101 sound's promising, I've visited Taiwan several times and really enjoyed it. I plan on moving there end of May so might try the the walk-in approach as well, nothing like seeing first hand what you're getting into 🙂

Hi thanks for the great info in your video. You mentioned in the comments that you're interviewing with a public school. Does that type of school really require a teaching license from your home country (rather than a TEFL or CELTA)?
@KevLaa101
@KevLaa101 3 месяца назад
The teaching license comes from the Taiwan government but you need to prove you’ve got QTS - Qualified Teacher Status. Which means your teacher training was performed under the supervision of a senior teacher in a school environment. However , private schools or cram schools are desperately needing teachers and they only require a tefl. Some more higher paid private schools require a CELTA or trinity cert tesol. It just depends what kind of environment you want to work in and what kind of hours you want to work. As cram schools are usually 12 - 9pm five days a week. Where as private school or public schools are 8 or 9am till 4pm.

Sounds like you got buxibaned. You got a job at a cram school and not a public or international school? They do the same thing in South Korea and everywhere else.

Yes I learned a valuable lesson 🙈, more videos to come as I have an interview tomorrow with a public school 😎
