This group was great but let's not pretend they're super well known these days. Most folks probably can only name We Are Family and would still struggle to tell you their group name. Fame is fleeting. Just focus on enjoying their music so their legacy remains.
In high school all the boys loved nice wholesome girl groups like " Sister Sledge, High Energy, and the Jones Girls. It was 1978 and 1979 and everything felt right in the African-American community. I am now a school teacher in the city of Milwaukee and the girl rappers are anything but wholesome .They rap about "poping thier virginal walls". The girls emulate this behavior our black communities are in total shock. God help us, bring back the wholesome girl groups please.
It's all over the White Communities, also. I'm from Italy and although it is significantly less, and the Italian girls still aspire to be THE most Beautiful women on earth. I'm married to one. She's a tall Black Haired bronze skinned Sicilian. She needs no make up. She just likes the Extended Eye Lashes. This clip was from 1993. The sisters were in the UK at teh time celebrating their 20 years in the industry. Joni had just had a son who is now in college.
2 things stand out to me: first is how classy and beautiful these ladies are, and secondly how this video looks extremely modern like they just performed this in the past 3 to 5 years.

When you think about it, we had the only fun growing up (the 70s). The '60s was a struggle, and the '80s had crack and HIV. I feel blessed to have spent all my teenage years during this era.
Seeing this video makes me happy that I enjoyed these sounds and songs from the beginning, they make / are my life unforgettable great times!! On the other hand the video makes me sad because Joni Sledge who died in March 2017 is sadly missing in this video. So I have to accept life isn't endless!!
This song reminds me of a love affair I had when I was young. In its happiest and most emotional days, I happened to listen to this song, and it became the soundtrack of that loving relationship, which was the most beautiful I ever had. And every time I listen to it, I have the same goosebumps.
The Girls were Totally Amazing. I was so lucky to see them Live when They Toured when Their Hit Frankie came out. Makes me so sad the lead singer 😭😭😭😭😭 passed on . Her voice was uniquely incredible. Love Sister Sledge so much Forever .
Nile Rogers is a genius! He and Bernard are icons. Just think, Kathy was what 14 when she recorded these vocals. I remember 14 well and the pure emotions that came with it. Still on this in 2021. 💋😘🎶
Oh my God,I love Kathy. She's small, very attractive and that voice is heaven sent. This beautiful classic came out in 1979 on the we are family album. I were just about too start kindergarten at the tender age of five.

We love this sisterhood and would beautiful educated and talented women, We would love to see Kathy come back and join her sisters once again for a family reunion and tribute to the beautiful Joni Sledge. One thing these girls did was combines sexy AND classy. Many girl groups since thenhave managed to be one or the other, but none have done both at the same time better than they did. Cathy still looks fab todays and still has that beaming smile.

I love these women I was in the 8th grade whenever this came out they used to play it at the skating rink I them in concert in 1996 and they sounded the same and they were just as beautiful in person 😊😊😊🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️

Beauty, True Style & Class, Femininity and what beautiful voices AND Oh Precious!!! This song brings back many,many sweet & beautiful memories. Sister Sledge did that to your mind, body, and soul. The combined vocals of the sisters were so smooth and just stroked a tender chord in your body. I remember only too well where I was and what I was doing when this great song came out, and hearing it over & over, I am back there and won't wake from that era when all the singers, song writers from the sixties, seventies, & eighties, wrote and sang the chorus lines of our lives. There is very little song writing talent and very few singers today who can match the eras of yesteryear. Those people who say get over it, well I truly feel sorry for their attitude as they will never know the true meaning of Love, Joy, Peace, & Happiness; or what family and friends meant. Music that was written and sung in yesteryear spoke of the very things that really mattered & I have just mentioned them. Music with soul and true meaning. No music today can hold a candle to that. Those times may be gone, but for those like me who grew up in yesteryear; those times will never be forgotten period. :-) :-) True beauty in Kathy, Debbie, Kim, and the beautiful late Joni. Dedicating this to the life of Joni Sledge who died on Friday 10th March 2017, she was found unresponsive by a friend at her home in Phoenix, Arizona, she had not been ill and the cause of death was natural causes.
