I'm glad you mentioned the people who tell us not to wear braids with thin edges. As you said, if done right, there is no tension. I have learned how to braid my edges like this❤️

Any dermatologist will tell you NOT to wear these styles when suffering from traction alopecia. She appears to be in stage 1. I wish I was informed at this stage 😢 I know you’ve never suffered from TA based on your light hearted disclaimer lol but I understand because I was the same way until it was too late. THANKFULLY I caught it before permanent damage was done but I’m still in stage 3. ONLY because I didn’t stop and allow my hair to grow back. Beautiful style, hopefully you take the time to do light research, it’s a ton of videos here on RU-vid. ❤

I'm sure everyone has an opinion about installing braids with thin edges but that's exactly why im here! I have sort of a receding hairline (thanks parents!! 😒🤦‍♀) so my hairline is like an M. I appreciate your video and wish you were near me but I will do my best to self install.
@akairiyahiko2602
@akairiyahiko2602 Год назад
Incorrect. If you continue to put so much tension on your edges, eventually they will never grow back. Traction alopecia is not a joke. I know because I’m a victim of this. No hating here. Just stating facts

Yes and no… I was bald cuz I shaved my hair. Then once my hair grew out i was in braids for 6mos with no casualties… UNTIL!! The last set were I got Senegalese twist! Every other style i left my edges out even with “adult hairs” the swooped swirly hairs to keep my edges safe. They definitely have a place. I did not do that the last time and of course she twisted in every single hair putting twists on little strands that should’ve been in another twist they wouldn’t have even compromised the size. Even if they did it wouldn’t have been noticeable. So I took the perimeter ones out. But it was mostly too late. Now I’m jus babying my edges. I’ve been in a fro for 2weeks only using oil on the hair line and I’ll probably be like this a few mos. But once i go back to braids I’m definitely going back to the dramatic baby hairs. It’s devastating but hey.

How did you ever grow them back ?
@AspenDanyiel
@AspenDanyiel 9 месяцев назад
Exactly, I wish braiders took the time to learn about it. It’s not “thin edges” it’s a medical condition that can lead to PERMANENT BALDNESS if not taken serious.
@akairiyahiko2602
@akairiyahiko2602 9 месяцев назад
@@tgi_anjana2548 at the beginning I was getting micro braids and the my follicles were being pulled on my edges, which look a milky white when pulled from the scalp. They did grow back but i continued to put micro braids in my hair and of course, my edges were getting weaker and the follicles were coming out. After a few more times, where the follicles kept coming out, my hair in those spots never grew back. I have tried everything in the world and I even went to see a dermatologist. They were permanently damaged. It’s been well over 10 years now. Now I just try to protect the remaining hair on my edges the best I can. I’ve learn to embrace my hair and love it more. I neglected my hair back then because I was naive and didn’t put in the time care for it.

@@AspenDanyielare you saying not to braid at all? Even if there is no tension?
@AspenDanyiel
@AspenDanyiel 9 месяцев назад
My hair was fuller than hers mid July, by early September (6 weeks) I was nearly completely bald only peach fuzz lol when the hair follicles are damaged it doesn’t take much to completely ruin them. They’re very timid and fragile. This is why the 1st step to treatment is to STOP wearing the styles & wear your natural hair to heal, step 2 is regrowth. It’s now almost November and with treatment my hair is coming back. I say this to tell you how serious it is, a matter of WEEKS and 1 wrong hair style can change your life forever. It’s worth more than that disclaimer and should be taken more serious especially from a braider. Braiders should take cosmetology for this very reason ❤

Oh my goodness I can not believe the miss information you’re spreading 😢 Traction alopecia is not caused by braids only, it’s caused by friction, traction, & tension. Wigs, weaves, PONYTAILS are the main culprit. Muslim men even get it from the head wraps. I got mine from wearing frontals and ponytails. She absolutely has TA it’s the exact area and shape of hair loss. This is not thin edges this is STAGE 1 TRACTION ALOPECIA. We as consumers trust our stylist to guide us. If you don’t know that’s different but to straight up spread miss information is crazy.

With thinner edges can you still put the braids into buns or will that put too much strain on the edges?
@lala5061

I braid hair, I do knotless because i have thin edges and just thin fine hair period not alot of strands grow out my scalp 😒but I still put mine up in a bun I just be sure to pull the sides out a little (loosen it) so it's not in tight like the rest! It's not heavy if braided properly...

Which is easier on edges? Knotless or box braids?
@fromjastoAHAVA
@fromjastoAHAVA 3 года назад
Knotless because it's less tension. Regular box braids have the knot at the beginning of the braid which creates more weight for your edges to hold thus causing it to be prone to breakage. Whereas with Knotless you have way less tension.
@Empressme222
@Empressme222 2 года назад
Yea I had put box braids on my thin edges before knotless was popular and when I took them down I had a whole small bald spot where my edges was. Your can tell if your edges are prone to break off if there’s a slight pain or tension even after your braids been in a while.
